Ustinov Studio- Theatre Royal Bath Review

Intimate theatre space for smaller scale productions. More hits than misses.

I love the Ustinov. It has such interesting plays, and feels so very personal.

Cramped and uncomfortable. Seating that makes a budget ryan air flight look generous by comparison

Had a great time lovely old building friendly and welcoming staff

The Women in Black was AMAZING, went to see it with my Drama Class, and everyone got the Chills !

It wasn't that good, the play we have been seen. It's was chaotic

Nice atmosphere in a small theatre. Front row seats and was inches away from the performers. Good value for the right show which this was (saw "the mentor")

A Lovely Theatre. I have enjoyed every production here. A magical space and such an eclectic choice of plays.

The best theatre in Bath. Affordable and intimate setting showing some interesting plays. Many more original dramas than the usual safe productions at its big sister, the theatre royal.

A wonderful contemporary space for new and bold shows.

I love this little theatre - over the past few years, I have seen some great performances and plays.

My wife and I have seen many productions here, and we prefer it to the main house as the productions are usually more interesting and it is cheaper. The main issue is the seats are over cosy and the legroom is not generous, but I can put up with this for a chance to see great productions, often with big name actors (most recently Robert Lindsay) who are so close it seems like you can reach out and touch them. I don't, of course.

Very intimate performance, great location, busy bar before performance. One idiot in the audience left his phone on and decided it was ok for a call to interrupt everyone's enjoyment of the show. Well done to the performers for not calling him out and managing to professionally continue.

Good little theatre, nice small bar at the entrance

Small theatre but staff very friendly, polite and helpful.

Very intimate little studio, with reasonably comfortable double seating for a 2-hour performance. Seating rows are closed of by a wall, so not easy to reach your seat if near the wall. Very good acoustics, and perfect visibility of the performers.

Innovative and challenging in contrast to the Conservative Theatre Royal.

Being a small, intimate theatre, the performances (of which have all been high quality) seem much more personal and engrossing. The programme is always full of interesting shows with great value for money.

Only thing to note is that it can be hard to find if you go to Bath Theatre Royal's front entrance, because the Ustinov is completely round the back of the theatre, with a totally separate entrance

Intimate theatre, good sightlines. Double seats a bit odd for singles :-)

First time there, bit disconcerted as my seat (A1) was practically on the stage! Small stage but very enjoyable, the play was wonderful "Crimes on the Nile".

Great original productions. Amazing to see how they continue to transform the stage every time.

I have always had a great night here. Intimate venue, showing a range of different productions. A great night out for the price of the tickets. Be aware, there is only a little counter with some snacks, water, tea, wine.. so perhaps have dinner first!
