A museum of depression. Take the son to visit again. From the rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party to the destruction of millions of Jews, to the liberation of Europe, the permanent museum arranges exhibitions in chronological order, and there are many death camps. Visually impactful, some image data is not suitable for young people to watch. The visit is still very challenging, and the thought-provoking and shocking information is not suitable for people with weak hearts. There are other exhibits that can also be visited. Very concerned about the plight of the Jews.

Could have had more exhibits,. Alot of empty space. Very emotional going through the museum. Hard to imagine what the people went through,. From the ghettos, to the train rides in cattle cars( stuffed),. To the concentration camps. ( Tragedy )!

The most moving and impactful museum ever conceived. The exhibits find an excellent way to portray something horrific without sensationalizing the subject. You can leave the museum without a heavy heart.

There is an excellent Children's Exhibit for kids around 6-12 depending on their individual maturity. The Permanent Exhibit (maybe 13 and up) is the best you can see without going to Europe. I was very happy with the gift shop!

Visiting here is a very moving experience. The displays are very well put together. They grab your attention and hold it. The cruelty that was inflicted upon so many different people's is beyond imagining. It really makes one wonder how humans can possibly be so unfeeling. This museum shows the worst (the unimaginable horrors) and the best ( the courage and fortitude of the imprisoned, and those who tried to help them) of humankind.

An excellent and important museum. The part about Hitler's Germany is really strong. It takes at least 3 hours for the information-rich museum. The experience is powerful. As a Jew, I was thrilled to see the masses of visitors there. In my opinion, a must-see museum for anyone coming to Washington DC. By the way, the cafeteria is good, friendly and delicious.

I'm not really into museum. And I don't like when they try to be emotional because it's usually lame.
But this museum is great. The effort put into the architecture and its meaning is impressive and really interesting. Really good experience that I recommend.

I think everyone should go here to make sure that we do not repeat our past. It is definitely tough going through here but very worth it. It is free but you need tickets so come here first to get a ticket and then come back when it is your turn. This helps prevent having large crowds inside and keeps things flowing.

What a sobering experience. It was heart breaking to walk through and see the horrible treatment of many people during the Holocaust. I'm glad we made time for it during our visit to Washington DC.

It is quite crowded, but I just didn't let other people push me along and faster than I wanted to go.

It's emotionally heavy, so be prepared for that. It also takes about 2-3 hours to really enjoy the museum. Getting tickets isn't bad as long as you plan ahead. They also have same day tickets that go on sale first thing in the morning (like 6 AM) if you forget to get them ahead of time.

Sad but needed. Beautifully done. Everyone needs to remember. I wish there was no cost like many of the other museums in DC so no one has an excuse not to go. Some people say it was a hoax. You definitely can't once there. The horror. My husband is only 6% but if his ancestors didn't make it, he would not be here. A must see!

I definitely think everyone should visit this place. It s free like every other museum in D.C.. You only need tickets from March - September any other time you just walk in. Make sure to get there early though. It s usually very crowded! Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours here. There is a lot to stop and see/read and a lot of audio stops that are worth taking the time on. Be prepared to fell every emotion you hate to feel; anger, sadness, broken hearted. It s not easy. To get through, but so worth it.

If you are a person who likes history. This place you must won't miss when you come to visit D.C. If you don't want to pay for the permanent exhibition, don't worry, most of exhibitions are free but the quality are still excellent.

Learning about this in school a few years back di...

Learning about this in school a few years back didn t really make it seem important... after visiting here... everything came together. One cannot walk through here without crying. At certain points you walk on a bridge and your just surrounded by the Jewish people who lost their life to this horrific event in history. This is so powerful.. I wouldn t recommend taking younger kids... at least 12 years old but make sure they are ready to be respectful and quiet. It is so emotional. Seeing the artifacts what they had to go through... just everything about it. This is something you don t want to rush through. Prepare a good 5 hours of just walking through.. reading and taking everything in. The staff here are so incredible. I m completely speechless after this visit. I now know the truth behind a topic that so many try to forget... it s a sad and horrific part of our history.. but we should never forget it. With forget comes regret when this is pushed so far away that it s just told as a horror story. We can never let that happen. We can never let this happen again.... everyone is human... we all have faults.. but we all have lives and families. No one deserves to get deprived of living because of what they believed.

This is so emotionally draining and so powerful. I would recommend doing this for sure... there s just so much to learn it s hard not to do it on your visit. I will always remember everything from here.

Amazing experience. I ran out of time the first day so went back for a 2nd day. I had planned to visit at least one Smithsonian but didn't get to it on my last day in DC. No regrets. Highly recommended!

God weeps. We so soon forget the cruelty of small men led by those lusting for power. The power of this place takes one's voice. Try to see the talks by holocaust survivors. Take your time to wander inside and see the evidence.

This museum is a must if you ever visit DC. It will give you a vastly different perspective of the well-known events that took place in Europe during the war. I would say that it's breathtaking.

Very well done museum but as you can imagine very intense. Most instructional to those not well versed in history. Not for immature children. And please don't take any babies in who might start fussing. That would be very uncomfortable.
