It's nice, but you will be hard-pressed to find a place where there is absolute quiet, which for me is distracting
Doheny certainly impresses, but I wouldn't study here. Browse the stacks, borrow your books, and get out. Then go study at Leavey.
Too quiet, too austere. No opportunity to talk. Not the place to come with friends, and it's hard to focus given the lack of white noise, of distractions.
I only spent considerable time here once, and it was to do research. This is really more of a place for Ph.D. students who've lost any passion for school or life, and just want to get some work done. Not the right place for freshman.
I give Doheny credit for the entrancing bookstacks. They feel like the 1950s, and they have everything. Lots of stuff you didn't expect, and you can walk out with half a dozen books to use in your research paper.
The front has also been host to various special occasions, ranging from commencement addresses to presidential speaking engagements. I was fortunate enough to see President Obama speak here - an extraordinary experience.
too old + smells weird + uncomfortable seats + inefficient use of space + lack of big computer labs. looks nice but does not provide you anything of substance. there are a lot of hidden places in dehoney - > good for adventuring
Adam, the library manager at Doheny, is knowledgeable, service-oriented, and kind.
I had a car one semester in Los Angeles at USA undergrad. I got a library card in Los Angeles and I went to this library to check it out and check out some books. It is located downtown and it's special.
Beautiful and quiet place to study. When I am in town for work, this is one of the places I go to get work done.
A beautiful, historic library with thousands upon thousands of books. Check this place out!
Use to study here often. Real nice ambience. Can get crowded but still a nice place to study. Also, nice place to pictures.
