Usaction: Building Grassroots Power for Change

Usaction is a national network of state and local grassroots power-building organizations that are dedicated to building the power of poor and working people in rural, suburban, and urban areas. The organization aims to win change through issue campaigns and elections.

The mission of Usaction is to empower people who have been marginalized by society. The organization believes that everyone deserves a voice in the decisions that affect their lives, regardless of their income or social status. By building grassroots power, Usaction seeks to create a more just and equitable society where everyone has access to basic human rights such as healthcare, education, housing, and employment.

Usaction was founded in 2016 as an extension of People's Action Network (PAN), which was established in 1972. PAN was created by community organizers who believed that poor people needed a voice in politics. Over the years, PAN grew into a national network with over one million members across the country.

Today, Usaction continues this legacy by organizing communities around issues such as climate justice, racial justice, economic justice, healthcare reform, immigration reform and voting rights. The organization works with local leaders to develop campaigns that address these issues at both the state and federal levels.

One example of Usaction's work is its campaign for Medicare for All. This campaign seeks to ensure that every American has access to quality healthcare regardless of their income or social status. Through grassroots organizing efforts such as phone banking events and door-to-door canvassing drives across the country; Usaction has been able to build support for this issue among policymakers at all levels.

Another example is its work on climate justice issues like stopping pipelines from being built on indigenous lands or fighting against fracking operations near residential areas where it can cause health problems like asthma attacks or cancer rates increase due exposure toxic chemicals released during drilling process . Through its Climate Justice Campaigns ,UsAction works with local communities affected by climate change to develop solutions that address the root causes of environmental degradation.
