National monument. The Groot Handelsgebouw is a monument and hotspot at the same time. The building was built in the early 1950s as one of the first buildings after the bombings of Rotterdam in the Second World War, on the site of the old Rotterdam Zoo. The grandeur of the Groot Handelsgebouw became a symbol of the new relationships of the city: this is how the 'new' Rotterdam should look. The building was officially opened by Queen Juliana on June 3, 1953. The Groot Handelsgebouw was the largest building in Europe when it opened and is the largest multi-company building in the Netherlands.

Beautiful architecture and fantastic roof terrace. Try to hit the stairs to the roof before the 20th of June 2016, as they will be gone after. If you are not able to, have a cocktail in the evening at The Suicide Club at the top floor of the building. Wonderful Skyline view over the city :)

We took the Thalys to Paris at 6:58 am for a week's holiday in Provence. Because we had missed the tram in Barendrecht, but by car to CS. Put there in the garage of the Groothandelsgebouw. Train caught on time! Called the garage reception and asked if one of our sons could pick up the car with a photo of the exit card. No problem, he was able to report to the reception, tell the story, pay and take the car with him. No sooner said than done. Very good service! Praise to the employees of the Groothandelsgebouw / garage.

Great building with great history. The CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center) is located on the 4th floor. A top spot for start-ups and adult companies. Multicultural, transparent, hip, playful, fantastic meeting facilities and every Thursday afternoon a networking drink that is well used.

Nice building on the outside. Inside it is a collective building for all kinds of different companies. In this building is also located restaurant English. Now quite dated, but still a household name in Rotterdam

An icon of reconstruction, but also an icon of a young and constantly changing Rotterdam! The Groot Handelsgebouw manages to keep itself relevant in a refreshing way, through collaborations with Motel Mozaique, and the accommodation of Kleinhandel and CIC. And housing some of the trendiest places in Rotterdam; Suicide Club, Lebkov, Always in the Neighborhood, etc. Top to work and to visit on weekends for relaxation.
