The Urban Arts Space is a nice little out reach of OSU's art department. Keep an eye on it for regular gallery changes, art + craft classes for all ages (which are often free), and other events.

Cozy and publicly available when student work is displayedn; rentable venue space between shows
OSU arts shows... Parking is rough, but it's Downtown, so you gotta expect that.
Walk up has a 50s deco feel. Student's art exhibit in a interesting space.
exciting and engaging atmosphere with immersive exhibition spaces
The art exhibit's change based on what's going on and time of year
Nice art by students when I last visited. Nice exhibit space as well.
Urban Art Space features works from a diverse art community. Also offers tours to rooftop garden. Admission is free. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Great free space for interesting and unconventional artworks!
A noteworthy space for art, often overlooked. Don't judge by the OSU in its name; their programming is far beyond the typical student shows you might expect.
Excellent free outreach prigrams for the public, including monthly Art Explorations class for 4-11 year olds.
This is a nice gallery, the exhibition they had this time was nice. From a black artist, very colorful and pretty. I do recommend the place.
I attended a session of the monthly Crafternoon series the UAS puts on for free. This is a free event for adults (nothing adult themed, just an outlet to do artsy projects with other grownups without little ones interrupting) that provides instructions and supplies to complete various crafts (usually incorporating themes of reuse/upcycling). It was fun as always with both great instructors and instructees in attendance.
I just love the art that they had up and the employees were so nice and helpful. I would go back.
More people of Columbus should be aware of the Urban Arts space.
Walking out of the Columbus Commons and across the street, I had a difficult time finding the location, but once you begin passing the windows which shine down into the lower level of the space proper it becomes easily discoverable.
Located in a nicely covered entryway, the arts space itself hosts functions, student work, and other artistic events throughout the year. Keep an eye out for emerging artists, museum pieces, special events, and more - all brought together by the various art related disciplines at The Ohio State University.
This place showed MY art, so it might not be THAT great- but 4.875 stars isn't an option. That the only time I ever questioned their curatorial prowess.
My visit was in July of 2019, the space itself is small, but it was free so it is understandable.
My friends and I spent around 20-30 minutes walking through the gallery.
Some art was... Meh. But there is a considerable portion that is well worth your time. I can't say if that will always be the case, but it was when I went.
Overall, enjoyable experience. Go if you have the time.
Awesome art space. There is usually much variety of artwork which I appreciate. Parking along Front St seemed to be a good option. Consider visiting the Scioto Mile to make an event out of a visit
I often visit the OSU Urban Arts Space when I am in downtown Columbus.
Located in the former East Basement of the former Lazarus Building, the OSU Urban Arts Space features high-quality art exhibits that have been curated by The Ohio State University College of the Arts.
It is wonderful to be able to view such high-quality and innovative art in downtown Columbus. In addition to being open much of the time during the day [except on Sundays and Mondays] the OSU Urban Arts Space hosts special events such as opening receptions and other events.
The bathrooms for the OSU Urban Arts Space are located off of the entrance hallway [halfway between the gallery and the alley]; staff members who are working at the entrance desk are always happy to unlock that bathroom when necessary.
Great shows, always free. A wonderful place in Columbus
Refuses to show work confronting structural and systemic racism in Columbus. Disappointed but not surprised.
I admire all of the talent that is showcased. They do change the art/ inventions around, but it just depends. Really cool seeing such creative and brilliant ideas.
Quality visual and performing arts space that displays student work from OSU as well as professional artists.
went to see santa and it was beautiful...had fun lil events for the kids...had a great time
If you haven't checked out their exhibitions or taken advantage of their crafternoons I would do so right away.
Visited for our nephew's industrial design exhibit. It is a great exhibit space.
Minimalist with wonderful collections, a must-visit part of downtown when around Columbus commons
Fun, funky and free art gallery. Visit the free Reif Gallery on High as well.
