roommate is disabled vet, got illegally evicted during corona even though filled out cdc paperwork and sent it to landlord and lawyer, usps proof they received even though landlord refused to accept delivery, still logged in by usps because certified mail w/ receipt 10th, even though effective 1st and printed 4th eviction moratorium. Landlord during this time also refused to accept community action offer to pay rent arrears then next refused to accept own lawyer's agreement to accent payment of any kind then again refused to accept followup community action offer to accept rent payments in full again, and on 11th with sheriff illegally evicted disabled veteran and legally blind roommate getting over stroke.
He went to United Way and priority veteran for help/assistance, and community action agency, and was told that CA would pay for first months rent and deposit BUT we had to find the rental, which unable to do because illegally evicted and even though in middle of pandemic, it is already on his record so is unable to find anyone who will rent to him, and his roommate was illegally purposely not put on lease even though adult but has no income at current time because waiting on soc sec but that is backlogged because of the virus.
United Way told him they would pay for hotel rooms, to keep all the receipts and have scanned at library along with his intake information, and they would bet back to him asap. A week and half later, they finally did, and said second intake was to actually provide service, and after another week or so, finally got call from case worker, who again claimed help asap, then claimed later had been sick so had not called him nor returned any of his calls for additional week on to of the other time already. It has now been from sept 11th though all of october into november today being 12th, and still no return calls and still no payments for all the hotel rooms, and now has borrowed from friend all they can spare, and room mate is homeless while vet was admitted to psych ward at local hospital, which means United Way and veterans first LITERALLY THANKS FOR LESS THAN NOTHING, you both are bloody USELESS
