The Capitol is large, beautiful, surrounded by parks, fountains, tourists and the police. But the whole thing is friendly and monumental at the same time. :)

Great tour guides kids got to ask questions and guide was very patient and explained so they could understand very helpful and informative.
Some people do stuff here that are trying to "make America great again"
It is a great place to go if you are interested in the history of our country. The tour guide was friendly and helpful. There is lots of security which can be expected at a place like this. It is a nice place to go if you are into photography. Be sure to check out the library of Congress as well. Be prepared to walk for a while and for lots of people.
A Brief History of United States packed into a very informative 45 minute tour of the Capitol. Starts off with a movie before the tour begins. The tour guides are extremely thorough and know pretty much everything there is to know about every statue and painting.
The Library of Congress is adjacent to the Capitol and connected by an underground passage. Best to visit it after the tour.
Loved the film and the tour. Wish we could have seen more! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Don t miss it. Restorative experience.
Very beautiful and historic. It really makes us reflect how important this nation is and how hard it was founded
Must visit place if you are in Washington. Morning is better time to visit from photography perspective.
One of the best places to visit. Every time you look at this beautiful place, you will find something new. Every season of the year this is marvelous and stunning place has something different to offer. Please do visit this place during day and night. I can not get over by looking at any time during the day, month and year.
Well recommended tour if you are in Washington, fascinating to see how Congress works
This was worth the trip, we contacted our state rep before hand for this and avoided a big hassle to get in. It's a guided tour so you get the whole history behind it. I thought it was a better stop than the White House but that's just me.
Impressive to see .... if you want a guided tour you should inform yourself in advance to find a possibility .... In any case an impressive and powerful building.
Tours are free and very good! Just enter the new visitor center.
Well worth the wait. Amazing interiors. One of a kind.
With some planning and asking, you can observe a House of Representatives or Senate meeting.
The tour guides are excellent-at least, ours was. Her name is Alison, and she did a bang-up job. Including dealing with smart and vocal 6-year old with aplomb. He and we had a good time.
We really enjoyed our extended tour of the Capitol. We contacted our Congressman's office in advance, and they arranged the tour. We sat in on a session of the Senate (you can watch from the seats at the top, above the floor), toured all the main halls, and even the back halls and tunnels of Capitol Hill. It really was a great tour, and exceeded my expectations.
A grandiose building in classical style, located on the hill called Capitol Hill, it is home to the US House and Senate, which occupy its north and south wings. It can be visited, but only with a guided tour, at fixed hours. If you respect the access times you can attend a real session either in the Chamber or in the Senate. Obviously there are strict security measures. From the beautiful panorama staircase.
Where the fat cats scratch one another's backs. Meh.
Come during the weekdays so that you can get into the chambers.
The Capitol (in English United States Capitol) is the official seat of the two branches of the United States of America Congress. The building is located in Washington DC, on Capitol Hill on the eastern edge of the National Mall.
Although not in the geographic center of the District of Columbia, the Capitol is the focal point that divides the territory of the federal capital into quadrants. Officially the east and west sides of the Capitol are defined as facades, although originally the east facade was one side of the building, designed to welcome visitors and dignitaries.
The Capitol is an example of neoclassical style. The current building is the result of the work of numerous architects. The original design is due to William Thornton, but was later modified by Stephen Hallet, Benjamin Latrobe and, finally, by Charles Bulfinch. Thomas U. Walter and August Schoenborn designed the current dome and buildings that house the House of Representatives and the Senate, whose construction was supervised by Edward Clark. The building is characterized by the huge central dome that rises on a rotunda, connecting two lateral wings that house the two branches of the Congress. The north wing is occupied by the senate, the south wing by the chamber of representatives. The dome is topped with a bronze statue of Liberty.
Only walked outside, didn't go round capitol as it was late at night. Still worth going to have a walk round.
There were so many hidden facts about US history that I didn't know and they revealed to me.
Beautiful history enshrined in this building. Much of the Godly influence of historical leaders are remembered - and forgotten - here.
Enjoyed the tour and the building but don't like how you can bring food or drink but I understand why you cant
The building is quite beautiful but it is a little bit removed from the others
Stay with your tourists, or you will get kick out by the Police!
I went on a weekday in the off season so it was not very busy. The building is beautiful and the tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable.
I love the state capital building it always looks cool to see!!! I love the monuments
These photos were taken during the preparation work for the first Inauguration of President Barack Obama in January 2009. A rare glimpse behind the scenes of what it takes to get this type of event off the ground and to be a part of the inauguration was an extreme honor.
Building is pretty cool and the view of Early morning is awesome.
#Greatplace #historicalplace
Washington DC has a couple of things that really stick out. The Washington Monument for sure, and second is the Capitol. The Capitol and its dome represent so much history it is overwhelming to think that one could describe it in a simple review. To see it at night with the lighting is awe inspiring, and in the day the flow of people in and out and all around give a small hint as to our nation and its background. For some a walk around the building is enjoyble, for all a trip to the visitor center and the tours are just more than the mind can take. Take a docent led tour for so many tidbits one might not ordinarily know, and item one just might walk by.
Write you congress person a few month in advance and get a tour, we did and it was beyond amazing,
You should be there the earlier time the better. Impressive is all I can say!
You can't miss if you're visiting Washington DC! It's amazing to see building itself and standing for over 200 years. Museum also good. The museum is large but not too great.
Impressive building; beautiful example of American Neoclassicism and hard to believe it was built some 200 years ago! It's a pity we couldn't make it to any of the tours due to time constraints.
This is the most beautiful building I have ever stepped foot in. We went on a tour by our local Congressman, and because we were a school group, got to see things that are not normally available to the public. This beautiful, and the history behind it is astounding!
seems like no one getting work done here fighting Obama every step of the way!!!they get one star wasting tax payer money on there salaries they all should be voted out of office..smh
Beautiful architecture all around! Even if there is only time to walk around the outside of the the U.S. Capitol, still an amazing sight! The area is
SO walkable! Skip the cab!
A must-see if you visit Washington, D.C. It contains the United States Congress.
Definitely worth visiting. A guided tour is the best option. There are so many interesting stories to hear about the building itself and the people who have served there. I like the clear days. The Capitol building looks stunning in the sunlight.
They wouldn't let me go in certain rooms, I couldn't go in the best government bathroom I basically payed for that with my taxes
best was our tour guide from Senator Corkers office ! thank you!
A must see place on your visit to our nation's capital.
This location is in business as a National Parliament or Legislature.
It is good for its purpose, as it has meeting rooms of different sizes, including at least three in a classic hemicycle pattern; there may be more. Much of the building is of mid-nineteenth-century vintage, and it shows - there are plenty of Victorian floor tiles all over the place. The artwork in this building may be of better quality than most National Parliaments and/or Legislatures.
I base this analysis on what I see online. Many of the newer Parliaments/ Legislatures are of mid-20th-century or later origin and are quite spartan or "functional", at least in their central meeting rooms. This National Legislature actually has some artwork along with its functionality.
Poor service, employees just sit around and argue all day. Requested my money back but no one even looked Into my complaints. Will not use again.
We LOVED everything we were able to see and do, but you cannot access all parts of the Capitol without obtaining special tickets from either a Senator or Congressman.
A place full of American republican history and culture, without a doubt it is a place that should be visited if you walk around whashigton D.C.
So much history. If you get a chance write to your Congress representative to get a tour. So much more history than just the signage there. Thanks Tim Walberg!
So the beautiful building, perhaps mostly because of its white color, is certainly one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Maybe one day I visit the city and see the beauty, and evaluate if it is the most beautiful in the city as it seems now. If you were to represent the whole globe to someone, I think this particular building should be pictured in the background, if you understand me;)
The most impressive building of the capital is dominated by the edge of the park. Just a few moments from photography. Unfortunately, we were shutdown.
The Capitol was isolated for renovations. Even so we managed to take good pictures.
Staff was uncooperative, food was mediocre. Too many paintings of old folks. Worst BNB ive ever been to.
I am from Syria, from Aleppo in Syria. I was lying from Syria
Nice history lesson to walk through. Love the architecture. Dont love the workers! lol
Contact your state senator or representative's office and get a private tour.
Not only is this one of the best spots/tours in the city, but also one that is easier for tourists to get tickets to (Simply walk into your Representative's office and ask for tickets and an intern tour guide). If you don't get tickets, you can still visit the relatively new visitor's center to get a history lesson of one of America's most recognizable buildings. If you get a tour through your Rep, the tour becomes interactive as you walk through the building's chambers and even the dome. It's truly one of the most beautiful buildings in the US. If you have tickets, be sure to get additional tickets to witness Congress in session. It's a bit boring, but the novelty of witnessing it will keep your interest for at least 5-10 minutes.
Impressive the view, the green area of the whole area allows you to take spectacular photos. It is best to come on Sundays, since parking is free ... in my case, I went on a holiday and it was difficult to get where to stop. I tell you that you forget when you go through all the monuments!

From here the largest democracy in the world was born.
What's outside is beautiful. The things inside are a differnet story.
