Horrible university. Take months to respond to emails IF they even respond. Wait for more than an hour on the phone to speak to someone. Study material takes forever to be sent and they send it with a rubbish courier company (skynet) that takes forever to deliver your parcel.

My experience, 2014:
I have been waiting with anticipation for November to arrive because I need to see what modules comprise the different Honours Degrees in Psychology- so that I can make an informed decision. It is now November 6 and the curriculum is still not available on the UNISA website.

In addition to this, the UNISA website has been largely unavailable in the last two days as their server is down! I presume the server is over-loaded. UNISA has grown in its number of students and accomodation should have been made to carry the load so the server does not crash!

The option to telephone the Pretoria (main) campus was taken away years ago so students can no longer use that method of communication. In short, the service levels at UNISA are becoming more and more abysmal.

If you want to verify the level of discontent about service delivery, all you have to do is read the Facebook comments when UNISA posts on Facebook.

It's a disconcerting, frustrating and disappointing experience to try and obtain feedback- or communicate effectively- with UNISA. A correspondence university that has such poor levels of service is bound to lose many customers. And, that is what we students are, customers.

The trainee assistants have no damn clue of what's going on. When you physically go into the regional centre everybody there is virduh....you can never get any proper answers it's so hard.... playing with people's careers and life is cruel... As long as you pay they just give you your study material - there's study material missing - when you ask who to have sort all questions and problems out you get shoved around.... is it worth study at a university where people don't know how to help you - all I want is to complete my studies - I don't have time for incompetent people that are to rude to even help...

By far the worst organised University in the country. The quality of their education is appalling. They provide no support to students. They expect students tp do everything, they can't even send the students their resources they need.

Iv been with Unisa for 3 years and throughout these years I got nothing but stress and frustrations. It's suppose to be a distance learning but it really doesn't cater for that cos u will never reach them telephonically or with e-mail. If you are lucky enough to reach them then you will be send from pillar to post. Right now I am paying for their stupidity as I cannot access my exam results.

Administration staff are totally useless, they never respond or answer the phone. oh and good luck getting all your study material . I could develop a better website on the tablets the ten commandments were written on

Incompetent people. Most of the staff don't know what they are doing. Some of the staff members cannot even read properly. It is surprising that this is called a university. Worst experience I've had with any institution.

I don't know why but they don't pick up their phones. Somtimes you'll wait for 45 mins. Neither do they answer to your email. I'm frustrated.

One of the best distance learning institution in the world. Although there are some challenges like any other university but Unisa has done a lot for many students.

I applied for admission in April 2014. After a week of the online applications being offline, I submitted my application, I have since not received a rejection/acceptance letter. When I phone information they respond with "it is in progress". They give me contact numbers that are not working, and when sending e-mails I get a reply, after 3 weeks of waiting for a response, with irrelevant information copied from their website? I have wasted two days, taking time off from work but no one at the Florida campus was able to help me. Registration open tomorrow and I still do not know whether or not I am accepted.

Would never recommend this institution to anyone. My experience has been nothing but horrible. Phones aren't answered, emails aren't replied to. Exams take forever to be marked. Nonsense.

They don't even deserve this one star. Their service is straight up BS. Waited an hour and half trying to get assistance but nothing. Tried the email route which just leads to automated responses.

Teaching and learning is fantastic at unisa, their support structures are good. They just need to attend to queries in a more efficient manner.

They will never respond to your calls or emails its frustrating .What kind of support are they offering?

UNISA is absolutely the best University by far. No wonder it's has massive number of people wanting to enrol. I'm a 2019 graduate and already employed given the status of being a UNISA student..Love MyUNISA

They don't answer the phones and never reply on the emails, if they reply it will take six months and the problem won;t be fixed. Even when I went on campus I still could not get assistance, poor security guard tried assisting me as she saw that I was stressed. It a year later and I'm still trying to call the university but no one bothers to answer the calls. I regret ever taking the decision to go and study there. They act as if we don't pay fees.

Can't get hold of anyone at unisa, even via email, it sucks, but it's the university of South Africa . It does not deserve my one star. It's registration day, not one office phone is ringing and the website is down and the toll free number says registration is closed and you must wait for a consultant for one hour

Most pathetic University!! Just pushing through my last year and will never recommend UNISA to anyone!! Useless service, impossible to get hold of and lecturers couldn't care about the students!

Would give 0 stars if possible. I registered and they just didn't ever reply. They say it's still in review on the site but, the registration date already closed. I gave my money for nothing and now they don't respond to any of my emails.

Very dissapointed at this university and it took me months to get my study material so am proud to say i de-registered and am admitted at UP for 2021

Great place and university. Their ability to accommodate multiple people from diverse educational backgrounds is commendable.

Higher qualifications from Masters level are a definite yes; supervisors work tirelessly and the quality of work is out there.

However, lower qualifications are a definite no no here especially in studies requiring practical knowledge. Most employers might feel that distance learning does not sufficiently equip individuals with much needed skills in their first degree.

My son applied the enrol at Unisa and was informed that he will know by the end of May whether his application has been successful. Since the end of May we have been battling to get through to somebody at the University. Registrations close on 10 July 2015 and we have no idea whether his application has been successful or not.

Don't even try UNISA they are nothing but USELESS, UNPROFESSIONAL and just simply put TIME WASTERS ... Its a JOKE to even try and enroll

Unisa is a mega university with 350 000+ students, local and international. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I have tried to get my money back from this institution for almost a year now

Spent 400 bucks on a stupid matric exemption coz of not finishing matric OK cool then i apply and then they reject my application I mean really now I don't see the logic of these fools

If you are seventh day adventist don't study here they will make your write on a satureday or defer you unless you take action.
This university does not care about their students. They do not care about the stress they cause. They do not accommodate different religious groups and never respond to emails. I am still waiting for my registration to be processed for second semester while others have already received their study material despite my fees being up to date. Lecturers don't care and are lazy to even offer assistance. This is the worst university in South Africa.

Is the place where community get education and develop themselves. The service here is very good

been having a problem now for 3 months trying to sort out a username and password as the one they send is not working. finally went in and got that sorted then stood in a line for almost 2 hours to first hear that my documents did not go throught correctly and then that even thow i got an honours in learners support and B.Ed in math and EGD as well as a few other degrees. id probably not be allowed to study cause of math marks i got in matric was to low. must say thats the worst excuse ive heard for i have it your graded upon your last marks obtained and not your matric marks when youve already completed a few degrees and an honours. Worst service ive ever had from any universaty thus far.

I have tried calling every number on your site and none of them work. They either go dead straight away or I hold on for 20mins without getting put through to some. Absolutely shocking service from an institution this size!!

THE WORST UNIVERSITY. One of my worst choices I have made was to study my LLB through Unisa. There is nobody to assist with anything! No phones get answered, no email you send ever get a reply. On the odd chance that a lecturer DOES decide to reply to an email, they are incredibly arrogant and treat students like they are five-year-olds...ain't that right Professor Spies.Yes I will name and shame you!

I have been with them for over 2 years now. There has been numerous problems with my registration which resulted me to go into the college to wait in unendless rows. Each year there is a problem with my online registration and it requires me to go into the centre which I definitely don't want to do. Most of their listed numbers on their website don't work and the ones that do will never be answered. Also, don't try to email them, because they won't respond. Also, the website is so slow sometimes and there has been numerous problems when we wanted to upload assignments. The e-tutors are so bad, they basically never respond. A part from all of this the system works and I have managed to received good results. The content provided by the subject is great and provide great support.

I regret the day I registered with this useless institution and waste my hard earned money... poor services .. pire disgusting

The telephone number on this page that shows 'call' does not exist. Is this a legit university or what? If admin this bad, what is the rest of the university like. Appalled!!

Warm professional partnership with UNISA leadership.

It's an exercise I might say, especially when you walk from Kgorong Building passing OR Tambo heading to the library. Haha it's really an awesome place and very big, you got to know where you're going.

The stuff is really friendly I must add, except for one lady I came across, she's something else in a good way though. But professionally, it's up to standard. I mean, its main UniSA campus after all #wink

If it were possible to give a negative rating, I would do it in a heartbeat. UNISA's lackadaisical approach to its students is now affecting my career prospects. I require printed academic records to secure a job placement abroad for 2021. I have emailed dozens of people, been redirected countless times to other people and thus far no one has helped me. I know other UNISA students who have been able to get their academic records printed. All I am told is that due to Covid, everyone is working from home. QUESTION, how can people work from home when they apparently cannot do anything?

how do we get in touch with unisa if you not answering any number and others numbers are non existent on a current web page. Mara who can hear our complains? this is poor horrible frustrating service, you email and dololo no reply mara why Unisa. then out source your public and communication services to another company because clearly you paying these student advisors for nothing. this is highly unacceptable am highly annoyed at this institution, its 2017 not 1017 answer ours damn calls. what could possible go wrong? than why bother offer distance learning if you cant use the communicating tool properly and being transparent? #UNISA MUST ANSWER OUR CALLS AND EMAILS. You deserve -5 stars.

I tried calling them every day for two weeks. No answer on any phone number. Was on hold three times for 45 minutes then they kill the line. It's a joke to even call them an institution. It's a bunch of incompetent idiots

Worst experience. I would much rather go to SARS while being on the phone with a Telkom help desk that try to get proper information from Unisa. Their customer service is poor to say the least. So much potential to make a difference in this country through them, but they are missing the mark at this stage.

Attended challenging programs for M&D research proposal.

It is now alert level 1 and The minister of higher Education has approved all students to return to campus 100%,, Studying from home is a nightmare especially when I lack resources like internet,,, I do researches,, and sometimes I can't even do my researches using the internet,, Studying on campus make life easy because resource are available... When will UNISA open,,, we need to succeed by the end of this year.... This is painful when will the doors of UNISA open so we can all do well by the end of this year....

Pathetic and useless! I applied in August, it is the 23rd of December today, and my application is still pending. They do not answer their phones and do not respond to emails.

I applied on the 9th of October this year and even paid the minimum fee on the same day so that my application can proceed but they haven't responded, im still waiting for confirmation plz help

Your call centre is non existing. Yet you ask for students to call if any help is required... just reading all the other reviews on this site makes me even more dissappointed

I dont have any personal experience with the institution but what I would to clarify is that the public entrance is on the eastern side of Preller street. The best way to get there in from Steve Biko Street

I would give zero stars if there was an option. For months I have been trying to contact the university to assist me with my application and the staff consistently gives me incorrect information. Besides the terrible service I received, the last phone call with university which took me 4 hours ended with a staff member giving me attitude and being rude over the phone. I really suggest staying away from this university, I am actually happy that they dont have the man power to process a simple file so that I dont jave to deal with them for another 5 years.

I was seriously surprised that I was able to get in and out in less than 5 mins and get the documents that I needed as I has been struggling online and via the call center for over a month. Even the security guards were super helpful which helped to speed up the process.

This is so sad, what s happening with unisa emails. No one is responding to our problems. I haven t written any exams because been having trouble with myunisa log in. I tried getting help but nothing. Even closing dates of assignments are passing me coz I m failing to submit online.

I have been trying to get in touch with someone to help me with registration for 2 weeks now and still no luck, all the numbers that are available there is no one answering these numbers, I have mailed a couple of times and still no luck . I can not see how A Big University can run like this.
