Union Depot Review

Wonder why there are funny boards in the Green Line waiting room, asking for an Amtrak or Jefferson/mega bus ticket, when metro green line passengers wait here. Is this the real place or a place out of a history book? There is a typical lack of diversity here and in dire contrast to Mall Of America or the Red Line stations or North Star Station, there are no electrical outlets and people are chased away by security forces! Wonder how the government can afford so many employees?
Did you also know, there are actual condos and lofts here, you can lease or purchase? Someday I will publish footage from them too?

Union Depot is a great place for large events. We had a great experience having our TCWEP event in their great space. All the details were immaculate and perfect. The history in this venue is incredible. Was fun to experience this event and even hear my dad's story about coming into this Union Depot on a train from California while on leave after the Vietnam War in the US Navy in the '60's.

Pretty station. I've used it for Amtrak stops, Megabus, and local transport (buses and the green line) and have always been happy. It's too bad there isn't a bit more going on, but that's inevitable in a country that does not prioritize public and rail transport. One fun bonus is the live cameras! You can watch your family's train arrive and leave.

Amazing architecture, gorgeous marble, and so clean. Awesome step back in time- had to remind myself it was a real train depot. We should be proud of it as a MN landmark and use it more as an event venue to bring attention to it.

Lady Travelers Be aware of a potentially homeless man with olive skin and brown eyes in the age range of 40 s-60 s that likes to hang around there, especially by the bathroom he tried to follow me and my mum around, but luckily two security/police guys escorted him away The security staff said they were tired of seeing him hang around there and I m sure they had to deal with this character before! I feel bad they have to deal with questionable folks!

The security staff did a good job at protecting the public, but ladies please be very wary, I think homeless people and questionable characters, like to hang around the station, keep your belongings in a safe place or invest in theft proof bags !

We were very fortunate security was there to take the potentially homeless man away to the shelter before he could do anything potentially sketchy or dangerous.

Travel in groups or with people you know, You never know who you ll run into at depots be very careful and on guard at all times! Best advice Do not travel by yourself or your likely to get hassled by some stranger off the street!

Also Don t be afraid to ask staff for help they will help you! The staff are patrolling the place well. The depot is a beautiful building that s well maintained and cleaned ! I was impressed by how clean they kept it ! Don t be afraid to yell if your in trouble the security team is on top of things Here !

We recently took Amtrak from here to Chicago. The Union Depot has been beautifully restored. It's very clean with ample seating. This is a great location for events and I see they actually have events here. The seats also had electric outlets for charging phones and devices. Parking is covered and very reasonable. There were plenty of parking spaces available.

My only gripe is that there is no coffee cart or coffee shop here. I was actually quite surprised by this. I saw a coffee shop in Union Depot, but it was closed. We were here at 8:00am on a Friday, so I'm not sure if it's ever open. A restaurant would definitely make this a much better depot!

Security always harassing people telling them they can't sit in certain places coming outside and harassing the people waiting for the green line. It's a nice building but I would avoid security unless you want to be harassed for no reason.
