The underground was sold to an investment company, so most if not all of the leases are not being renewed once they expire. It feels empty and not as busy. I am excited about the new transformation and hopeful for our city that we will enjoy a new and better experiences downtown at and around the underground location.

We actually went to The Masquerade for a concert. It had been years since I had been and did not realize the location had moved. It was not a problem to find with Google's walking directions. The venue was extremely clean on the inside, amazingly clean. The staff who were all working there were extremely nice and pleasant to talk to. Every single person was welcoming. I would go back just because of the people who work there. The acoustics on the inside are perfect for a concert. I would absolutely add this as one of my favorite concert locations, with the exception of the fact that it is in Underground Atlanta... there is just not much to do in that area unless you go a few blocks away, but that is no fault of The Masquerade. I loved it and would definitely go back. The restrooms were also exceptionally clean.

I visited Underground ATL recently for the first time in several years. I was very disappointed, it was not what I remember it being. There are no good shops, it has a very dismal appeal and it is mostly vendor carts selling crummy trinkets. We also felt very unsafe there as there was a large number of sketchy people and groups of shady looking teens.

I hear that it's changed ownership since my last visit. It's no longer owned by the City of Atlanta. The quality of the complex took a nosedive under their care. Hopefully, the new owner can restore it to what.it once was.

The Underground is not the same as it once was. Now there are fewer vendors, shops, and places to dine. Hopefully, the Underground will get it's spark back sometime soon. Keeping my fingers crossed

I don't know what's supposed to be there, exactly, but we found not much. Paid $20 to park and go look at... nothing. There is a very large building there that is closed to the public. I think the stores we wanted to visit were in there. Perhaps Underground Atlanta is under renovations. Of so, the city should put notices up. Giving two stars because the guys running the Foot Locker were super nice. But it was super cold in there, and it had way less inventory than a regular Foot Locker.

Its not what it use to be but still has nice things! I m a around the world shopper from LA garment district to New York China Town and this is still one of the many on my list. There isn t a lot of women s clothing but they still have the Heel store with all varieties plus lovely sandals for wide calves to skinny calves also some clothing not a ton but a few things! They have mostly men s clothes and sneaker joints! And let s face it we all know a exclusive shoes. I love there journeys and the crystal oils are totally worth it! If looking for a gold front grill made the day it s paid it s on the side streets in the market. But women I would refer you to the other popular malls not just Lennox square

Probably one of my best study spots yet! I can really appreciate a coffee shop that goes out of its way to provide a great experience for its customers, not only in terms of the beverages but space and facilities as well. WiFi is great, noise levels are low, and prices are fair.

I had no idea it was closed. Very disappointing. Even worse, as we were walking back to the parking garage there were a family of rats in the bushes going into the garage. We didn't venture out much more after that

I had been asking the locals about Underground Atlanta and none of them were ever excited to talk about it. An Uber driver even told me, "it's not what it used to be." I was unimpressed when I finally stepped foot in UA. I was disappointed because I did not see lots of shops - many stores were vacant. Not really sure why this shows up on "Things to do in Atlanta" lists.

This place is kind of sad, because it's so lonely and quiet. I've been here a handful of times and each time I go it seems even more deserted before. Very few shops open and almost no people. It just doesn't seem to attract a lot of business, which is too bad, because it's in a cool location and there are some cool little kiosk shops there. It's a 90s-hot-spot-turned-ghost-town.

This is a nice tourist spot. When I first visited Atlanta this place was recommended by a friend. We walked around and there are nice shops to visit and restaurants to grab a snack and a bite or a drink around there. It is usually pretty crowded but that is to be expected with a popular tourist spot. Not that we live in ATL I still visit every now and then. It will always be a special place for our family. Go during the day time and you may see some popular people. I once saw Usher Raymond there. That was cool.

About Underground Atlanta

Underground Atlanta: A Historic Transformation

Underground Atlanta is a historic landmark located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The four-block radius was once a bustling hub for retail and entertainment, but over time it fell into disrepair. However, with the help of visionary developers and community leaders, Underground is undergoing a transformation that will revitalize the area and create a sustainable community where people can live, work, create, and explore.

The History of Underground Atlanta

Underground Atlanta has a rich history that dates back to the 1800s. Originally known as Terminus, it was founded as the end of the Western & Atlantic Railroad line. As more railroads were built in the area, Terminus grew into a thriving transportation hub.

In 1864 during the Civil War Battle of Atlanta, much of Terminus was destroyed by Union troops. After the war ended and reconstruction began in earnest in 1865-66 many businesses moved to other parts of town leaving behind empty buildings which became storage spaces for goods such as cotton bales.

In 1969 businessman R.H. Macy purchased several blocks around Alabama Street with plans to build an underground shopping mall similar to one he had seen in Montreal Canada called Place Ville Marie . The project took years longer than expected due to financial difficulties but finally opened its doors on April 8th ,1969 with great fanfare.

For many years after its opening Underground thrived as an entertainment destination featuring restaurants like Dante's Down The Hatch (a fondue restaurant), bars like Churchill Grounds (a jazz club), shops selling everything from clothing to souvenirs ,and even an indoor amusement park called Fun Junction .

However by late 1990s Underground had fallen on hard times due to competition from suburban malls and changing consumer habits . Many businesses closed their doors or moved elsewhere leaving behind empty storefronts which attracted vagrants and crime .

The Transformation Begins

In recent years there has been renewed interest in revitalizing Underground Atlanta thanks largely due efforts by WRS Inc., who purchased most of property surrounding Five Points MARTA station including former Macy's building at Peachtree Street NE & Alabama St SW intersection which they plan convert into mixed-use development featuring apartments/condos offices retail space restaurants etc..

They also plan on adding new residential units so people can live within walking distance from work shopping dining entertainment venues all while being connected via transit options like MARTA trains buses streetcars bike lanes pedestrian walkways etc..

One key aspect WRS Inc.'s redevelopment plan is sustainability . They are committed reducing carbon footprint through use renewable energy sources green roofs rainwater harvesting systems recycling programs etc.. This commitment not only benefits environment but also helps attract younger generations who value eco-friendly living options when choosing where they want call home .
