When I first toured UMKC, they boasted a bookstore with the cheapest prices available. As a current student, I can assure you to not drink the Kool-Aid. They have an online tool that you can use to compare prices, but they leave out so many websites and even many listings on Amazon. I expected what they told me to be the truth, so I ended up spending over $500 for my first semester books. Luckily now I have learned my lesson and was able to buy my books online for second semester. For example, my Spanish 315 textbook was $135 used here, but I was able to purchase it for only $39 online. Only buy your books here unless you absolutely have to.

The bookstore itself is clean and fully stocked. T-shirt s are reasonably priced, but do not expect to buy a pack of pencils for typical retail price. They sell fashionable clothing on a random rack on the store. If you don t have a car and desperately need a cute outfit, I guess this could be helpful. Students work at the store, so they are understanding and informative. If you are looking at buying a new MacBook, the Bookstore has them in store at education pricing. Be sure to take advantage of tax-free weekend in August!

Staff is always nice and relaxed, yet prices, as could be expected, are heavily inflated. Never buy any textbook here if you can help it. Clothing options are decent, but nothing entirely special.

The people working at the bookstore were very helpful when trying to find books for particular graduate classes, and were equally helpful in helping me find a backpack that would fit my 17" laptop, which is fully returnable and comes with a 3 year manufacturer's warranty. Not too shabby.

Highly over priced with very strict return rules. If your family comes in from out of country and gets you the wrong gift expect that you need to find something else to use that money - even if you don't need anything. Staff is friendly enough for a university store lol. Don't expect amazing at all, mediocre at best.

Clean store, well organized. Mark ups are sadly the same as large, national for profit bookstores like Follet, and they claim the missouri system created them to get us stuff at fair prices.

The service was impeccable. A young lady found, what I could not find, by looking harder than I did.
More inventory items would be great, but selections were still pretty good. Personally, I wish there were more alumni items.
My wife matriculated at the Katz School of Pharmacy. I earned my MBA from the Bloch School of Business. We are eternally grateful for this fine college. We liked it so much that we still live within a mile from UMKC, in Brookside.
I really wish I could remember the name of the young lady that assisted me, because she was outstanding! I was there about 11am today, 9.25.18.

Very overpriced. They gave me a quote estimate of $1200 to rent all 7 of my books. And I ended up renting 5 books and even buying 2 of them off Amazon for $193 total. Avoid This bookstore at all costs. Only use it when absolutely necessary due to time constraints. But If you ever do use it, It has pretty much everything you need.

Books are very competitively priced! No I don't work for the bookstore either. The prices for all the books I have researched are very competitive. I can't speak to the price of other things. in general, many of the professors are conscious of the cost of the textbooks they select, which I appreciate.
