Weirdest sheet of ice I have ever seen, Most say its "Olympic Ice" well its not.. Its 197 ft x 135 ft, its a 1/3 Olympic Speed skating rink, and not in any way an olympic ice hockey sheet. its just weird. They should buy a set of boards to run down the one side at 85 ft, Then then can fix the lines and the circles.. But have also heard they are getting a new facility..

This is a neat older building to play hockey in. For the most part it is very accessible inside. Parking on u of I campus can be a hassle. Inside they have tried to update without losing the character of the old arena. It's a larger ice rink to so lots of ground for skaters to cover. The snack bar has s nice selection including hot foods. For an ice rink it's not terribly cold but if you get chilled easily and are a spectator bring a blanket. I look forward to coming back if our team gets the chance.

Great place for public ice skating. Check their site for hours, but if you're a student, you only save 1 dollar by going on the "free skate night". It's way more crowded then, so would not recommend on that night.

We are from out of state and used the website it says they are open from 130 to 4 pm. We traveled to go there and a tiny sign is taped to the door saying they are closed till August for repair. This should be prominently posted on the web page to not waste peoples time and meter money. Just rude Illinois

Wonderful place to be went to the Valentine's day skate with a date. It was such a blast and very affordable for those college kids. P.S. apparently this is also where they do blind dates we seen that while we were there.

Please open soon. I need to play hockey to keep my sanity on the campus. I live right next door and the closed ice rink taunts me every single day. I know ice arenas are open in other parts of Illinois. For example, All Seasons, Rocket Ice arena... etc. I seriously miss playing and I will work there if it means being able to even step foot in there. Please, UI Ice Arena open soon.

Love this place. For fun, for romance, for special events anything. Their prices are great, the place isn't ever super crowded, at least everytime I go it's easy to skate without running into other people. The rental skates aren't expensive and don't stink. The staff is friendly and hard working. Everytime I go it's always hard to leave. They sell some decent food, nothing fancy fries, hot dogs, soft drinks, candy, pretzels, and stuff like that.

Cold.

The place is fun for the family. It was an absolute ghost town went we took the kids. They have little walkers your kids can use to stay balanced. Perfect for my 5 year old. My 2 year old I had to bunch over and scoot along the ice. Will definitely be going back for some fun ice skating antics.

Fun enough, but don't put on website that there are accessibility sleds for public use if the person at the counter can only give it to you if you "aren't walking". Invisible disabilities and other health issues are a thing and it was upsetting to be told the sleds can only be used if you come in in a wheelchair... Had an issue getting one last time too and was only able to get one when my friend with cerebral palsy asked for one for me because she was in a wheelchair.

My friends and I went there this afternoon. It is a great place although a little bit crowded during the weekends. We took a picture together with the decoration there. It was a great time for all of us. If you are a UI student, you only need to pay $ 2 skate rental fee. Some other payment plans are available for family and big parties. We will definitely go there again.

My friend and I went here this afternoon and it was really a great place although it was a bit crowded on weekends. We took a photo with the Christmas decorations that were there and it was really a wonderful time. If you are a UIUC student, you only need to pay $ 2 for renting shoes. In addition, there are different payment standards for family gatherings and large groups. In short, we will definitely come back again!

Reduced price skate first Wednesday of the month from 7:30pm to 9:30 pm. Lots of fun, especially with family and children! Beginner skaters welcome as well. Lockers to rent, bring quarters, meter parking around side, also permit parking only enforced until 5 pm, so check the signs, you may be allowed to park depending on the time you are there. Snack bar takes some time to get the food out to you. Also there are chairs and benches available for people who are not ice skating.
