The store itself is fine, it's the parking situation that's a hassle.
Lot of cool college stuff and gear, expensive books though.
Super big, lots of things, the medicine part downstairs is especially interesting
Very high prices, souvenirs are average and many items can be found elsewhere.
Kind of pricey but hey I got some cool mini language books. Cant wait to dive in.
Great bookstore with friendly, but sparse staff. Everything is overpriced though.
The male employee who helped me out was incredibly helpful and facilitated me dropping off my returns.
People are kind and ready to do favors to customers.
Worst shopping experience ever.. purchased an iPad, and I have to go to book store three times for staff s mistake. 1st time they forgot to have my student discount and they gave me a unveiled iPad, second time they forgot to set my apple care on my iPad though they charged me.
And they are unfriendly at all to their costumers.
Mac price cuts, minus 150. There are also tax-free days between the three and five, which can save a lot of money.
Nice combo of bookstore and souvenir store. Lots of fun medical school souvenirs.
Knowledgeable staff, quiet place, but probably the most expensive place to buy text books.
Everything you could possibly need as a student can be found here.
I also found that the Amazon store is a very convenient location for students and anyone living in the University City area who want to have a close Prime pick up location, or a place to return/refund online purchases.
Break out the lube before purchasing... I know the professors need more money... But come on!
The items are kinda overpriced but they do have almost everything, from basic dorm supplies to art supplies. They are pretty much the only place that you can buy ucsd gear from. The bottom floor is text books and technology and the top floor is supplies and clothes and a little bit of everyting else.
Their selection of sweatshirt brands is poor. I tried multiple UCSD sweatshirts in the same size, brand, and color and they were cut completely differently. One was tight on the arms. The other tall and skinny and the other boxy. With a different sweatshirt, the medium was small and tight and the large was HUGE. Be careful to try on their apparel before choosing your typical size.
They do have a good selection of pens and notebooks.
Terrific campus that is continuously improving. Clean, quiet, and safe
Your typical University bookstore with course books but also A well-stocked collection of reading material from a variety of different disciplines. On top of that, lots of knick knacks and school spirit clothing but nothing terribly out of the ordinary. If you're a student, you can get good prices on software and computer systems.
Vast choice of UA merch, beautiful interior, perfect shelter for hot summer days. Last summer this store had reading weekend events for kids with many craft projects. It was fun. The only minus the staff at the main counter were not friendly, it happens at least 5 times with me. The rest of the associates inside the store are nice.
My family and I love shopping here since I'm am alumni and now staff at UCSD. Definitely not cheap but no university bookstore is and they have a large selection of not just school supplies and books but clothes, dorm supplies, calendars, and even a cafe inside now. Several floors and huge as they keep adding on so easy to get lost and overwhelmed.
You can find everything you need for your life in campus besides it's not a very expensive place
Pretty good stocked up store but too pricey, I think it's sad that it's that pricey for students whom already are paying so much in tuition.
Helpful staff, UCSD branded stuff didn't seem too terribly overpriced.
As much as I don't like the prices, I do enjoy wandering through the store looking at new things I shouldn't be buying from there.
Easy to access location for UCSD students with good customer support. Prices are fairly high mostly for last minute purchasers. Recently Amazon opened a location inside so you can order from Amazon to pick up.
I'm a UCSD paraphernalia addict. The store has a wonderful selection of merchandise and necessities for students and families alike.
I am an alumnist, I loved my time here. It was good to see all the old Hangouts and all the new campus facilities.
So much more than a bookstore. It is fun to go in there. You won't leave without buying something.
Great Book Store for drop-off..but No parking for the Regular Public.
As a high school student visiting the College campus, was pretty fun experience made me feel home being able to walk around feeling safe. The Campus Stores are well cleaned and have lots of things which you would expect to find at a Local Walmart and Best Buy or Staples.
Standard university bookstore. The food court is really clean and has a lot of options though!
It was a surprise to know that the prices of many of the items, especially the electronic ones, are cheaper than in some specialized stores.
Everything you could want and Amazon pick up center is great
After bookstore hours Amazon access through the back lower level.
UCSD is a great campus. Lots of items in the bookstore.
Really horrible collegiate licensed hat collection. No fitted hats. No flex fits.
It has everything you need but it is very over priced and certain things are of poor quality. I bought 3 pairs of ear buds. Two broke within a day of purchase and one came broken. They were all different brands.
Very organized and they carry a lot of supplies and clothing you might need. Just know what you need exactly because students don't know everything and they will be just as lost as you are. They don't carry Doritos just some healthy version of chips.
A nice place to get a cup of coffee and brows through books.
What can I say, its a university bookstore. 95% of the merchandise here is either intended to fleece undergrads of their parents money or garnish their dorms. Considering the price of text books I would suggest pirating them online or finding them used second hand from alumni.
Conversely there is a decent tech store on the ground floor which was very helpful and knowledgeable when I went to by a dell XPS. As a computer science major I appreciated that the staff had a working knowledge of the computers that they stocked. I also noticed them giving some good advice to general consumers using lame mans terms which is typically the sign of a good tech store (nice job!).
You can also order Amazon packages to the basement which is super convenient. I bought a pencil there once as well and it still works. Overall I would say this meets the minimum standard of a bookstore.
The best feature is that you can find a broad selection of items at a reasonable price.
As far as art supplies, they are constantly out of foam core, poster boards, etc. They need more balsa wood options. Everything else is way over priced. In general, the whole place has gone downhill since the remodel. I hate to go in there to buy anything but sometimes you need something right away and you just need to hope and pray that they have it in stock.
Strongly advise don't buy #4125928 Summerland Classmate Basic University of California San Diego Backpack-Navy. It is waste of money ($45) because of the very poor quality shoulder straps that hang stiff and uselessly off the body. Online ordering and the return after emailing customer service went smoothly.
Don't buy a computer from here if you can help it. Better deals online. Same with the books.
The best supplies resource for students, plenty of cute souvenirs for guests, and a convenient pickup location for Amazon.
Pretty nice and clean place to get textbooks, electronics, and just anything ucsd! The people who work there are pretty cool and helpful.
This is my favorite location of brainstorming in UCSD, quiet and comfortable interior setting.
Just a fun place to explore for supplies and books. They have a computer store as well, both PC and Mac. And they have my favorite composition books (Roaring Spring's Enivronotes line) for a lower price than online.
Lots of stuff and the staff smiled and greeted you!
Unfortunately, the price is too expensive!
Great selection, but it tends to be a bit overpriced (maybe $5 or $10 more)
Most of the time, you can get some money back at the end of the quarter, but it's less than half of what you paid.
Shop around first!
Book store had clothing and SD items. The parking to actually shop is a nightmare.
Nice caps. Great athletic wear. Less than friendly cashier. Otherwise great vibe and well stocked w travel sized items.
Best placed in the university took get books, computers abv other school related materials.
Lots of choices, but be ready to pay extra for the UCSD logo.
Amazing place, awesome staff, kickass book collection between the main store and the annex (could easily get lost there for hours). Can't wait until they open again (when we're ready to).
I bought an Olympus camera waterproof up to some feet at this bookstore. They also used to sell Silicon Graphics SGI and Sun Microsystems computers in the 1990s. The quality of books for sale is good. I bought a book illustrated in watercolor by Ted Lewin about a boy whose family runs a Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn. There are funny household items on the top floor. The merchandise is different than what you can find in most stores in the area.
Big Amazon book store and the location is very good.
A place for shopping for students and complete and good souvenirs
