Horrible office assistance. When you call, one of the students that work there will pick up and inform you about acquiring a housing contract through the school. As an incoming freshman, I was ill informed by these office students, despite driving 7 hours down there twice for two different visits and actually going into the office for information about how to get my contract. The inexperienced students didn t know a single answer to my questions and had to ask, and their hearsay from their bosses was typically confusing. They told me to check my email every few days to a week, which I did, without telling me (despite the visits and several phone calls) that there s a 24 hour period from the time the email enters your inbox to sign the contract. So I missed it by following their prescribed plan of checking once a week. And now I m back on the waitlist. And now they can t give me even a rough estimate when I ll get a new contract, and NOW just tell me after the dozen they call that these contracts can be given out AFTER the school year starts. It s a horrible system if they re given four and a half months to house the students and still do it through the school year. What a way to start at UCSB.
