Very disappointing. I sent an application for Ph.D. Program there, and no decision has been made until today. Admission office is being a little disrespectful and irresponsible to those applicants like me who is willing to dedicate their lives in academics.

I will summaries the one page review i had for this school with one sentence. It is a public school. It has high quality education with qualified teachers. However, the administration is ran like the wild west with absolute no regards or any level of caring for the students.

It was a wonderful University. All the students who want students to sign up had so much enthusiasm for their clubs. The staff are so kind and generous. I can't wait to attend Riverside for my freshman year

A great campus. Lots of resources provided for the student. If you are a student and a commuter, there are only 3 parking lots available unless you pay more for extra parking lots AND they are quite far away from the main campus.

Went here 6 years ago and when I ask for transcripts requiring a registrar seal (not through their 3rd party website) they gave me the hardest time, and took almost 4 weeks to place a registrar seal on a page and send it to NY for a professional license I want. Spent $120,000 in tuition for nothing. They delayed my licensure application by a whole month! The whole ordeal took about 20 emails to finally get in contact with a great person who finally completed this.

As a PhD student, I love its high quality research programs, state-of-the-art equipment, highly passionate and hard-working professors. Adding more, I would mention its very happy atmosphere all over the campus, amazing party stuffs plus the helpful staffs. Thanks to the huge diversity in UCR, I was able to make many friends from almost everywhere. Honestly, here you can always find a reason to have fun! :)

Very nice UC campus. There is an interesting clock tower in the center of the campus. Some buildings look old. There is a decent food court. Campus is well maintained. Dorms were decent size and reasonably well maintained.

I recently came here for a tour of the campus, and enjoyed what I saw, it was a beautiful area, with lots of bustling activity and appeared as though the students enrolled were content. The food court was large, and designed for high capacity. the informational lecture I received was also very informative.

Recently an agent contacted my husband offering him a english course. My husband never agreed on anything. Several weeks later an agent called him demanding him to pay 940$ or he would be facing federal charges and that he woyld have to pay 10,000 and would be facing deportion. My husband is not here illegaly!! Just because his english is not polished and wants to get a better education; does not give anyone the right to threaten him or anyone for that matter. The money he was suppose to sent was through western union ta an account in Peru lima! Please be aware that no one should pay for services that were nevet rendered. You have every right to say no thanks without being punished!!

I've spent a total of two weeks in the span of two years at UCR for a residential program. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had! The school is amazing, as well as its students and staff. This may definately be one of my choices as I reach my decision on where to attend college.

School is underrated. The area of riverside does suck. However, the academics and research that comes out of this school should be respected to say the least. Great, social environment. Student body is very caring. And professors do actually give a s***. Don't let the reputation deceive you. This school is by far one of the best schools out there. Lives up to the UC name as it should. Compared to anywhere else, other than other UCs, this school is awesome

Graduated in 2010, diverse campus with small classroom sizes, once specialized. Numerous resources to take advantage of while enrolled, fun campus events. Worked for The Office of Strategic Communications (UCR Web team) for a few years, great group of people!

If you come and there's a long ass line I guarantee your meal is worth the 10-15 minute wait. Share this with UCR students and you're insta-famous!

(Update: this review is meant for the Raising Canes in Riverside. I mean the food here at UCR is nice too lol)

A great campus with a slew of resources. There is a program for everything you can need. Resources are also a plenty and always available to help. Make sure you do not slack off and that you are always on top of your reading and homework because finals and midterms are always around the corner and so are those big projects.

Fantastic university, lower acceptance rate (around 50 percent) but all the same benifits of going to a school in the University of California system. If you re currently in high school, don t listen to the stigma, go here and actually look at the school and judge for yourself.

Going to Riverside makes me think of all the stupid jokes about the "inbred empire" a fellow yelper makes all the time.....(if you are a violent Riverside gang member/Yelper shoot me a PM)

When I first came to visit UCR one of the first things I saw on the bus over (I decided to take the train for some reason I thought that was a fun idea) was a pig being cooked by two other cartoon pigs.

SIGH.

As a campus UCR isn't too bad. The whole surrounded by citrus groves thing is odd but maybe it shields it from gang attacks or something...

Dorms are crazy small. Like not walk in closet small.

They have a coffee shop and last time I was there they also had a store that sold cigarettes (I thought that was funny for some reason)

Theres a lot of wannabe be gangbangers hanging around campus. I am not sure if they were students or not....maybe UCR is the "hip" place to be in Riverside.

Honestly if you can swing it and you have the money UCI is SO much nicer.

Walking around the campus is a relaxing experience...

Walking around the campus is a relaxing experience. There are 1,000 acres of citrus groves surrounding the school, a testament to the dedication to agriculture. There are around 24,000 students, and growing, with most classes numbering around 300 students and up to 500. However, less popular majors like engineering will fill at only 40 students in more specialized classes. The two impacted majors are business and psychology. In addition, there are good food options like the Habit and Panda Express available. Clubs are also popular, every Wednesday there is a showcase where the clubs can sell did and recruit members in a nice outdoor grass area.

This is a great university with students from all around the world, very beautiful buildings, gardens and sport facilities. It was a fantastic experience to study there for an year and enjoy such a nice atmosphere. Just be aware that you need a car to travel in weekends, for Riverside itself does not have many attractions, though it's a cozy city.

Always willing to take from the community and never give anything back. More students than can park. Makes sure anything in the community that is distracting to students is shut down. Doesn't educate students enough how to treat their new community as anything other than a trash can. Always willing to do whatever they can to insure traffic in the community is as bad as it can be by ridding themselves of their own service roads.

It's a beautiful school with a lot to offer educational wise. However, it doesn't offer many scholarships, grants or any help financially besides financial aid for students who are non residents of California.

This university disgraces the world of medicine, they even go as far as to put a bad name on Science, they use animal experimentation, specifically on a young monkey named Bridges by sewing his eyes shut and a sonar strapped forcefully onto his face. They claimed it was a experiment into what it was like to be blind. They deprived him of his sight, his mother he developed severe spasaming and continually touching his skin. Any school that deems this all well and good, I would never support nor attend. Shame on them.

(Please keep in mind, we have our differences. These are my personal observations and opinions from over the years I have been here. So, our opinions do not have to be the same. If you disagree, it is fine by me; it does not offend me. I hope the notes below are helpful for those who need it. I can only explain so much; as for you would have to experience it. Enjoy (or not). Hahaha xDD )

Yes, "[i]t's an UC." It has a good amount of resources and the access you need to complete your papers and researches.

The PROFESSORS--the majority of them are superb at lecturing, extremely helpful, understanding, and eager to assist struggling students (if you talk to them). Some professors seem to have trouble lecturing their course to students. Some professors think that if the class is doing well, then the exams are not difficult enough; so, these professors would make their exams more difficult. Then, these professors would think that if the majority of the students would get C's, these few professors are doing well. --.--"/ (Hahah oh, the many ways of interpretating.)

The ACADEMIC ADVISORS (in mostly all departments), SUCK! Even if you are on their toes, they still cannot assist you. Just hope you get an advisor who cares.
Although, (now) the History Department and Advisors are Awesome! They are prompt to answer emails and assist you with your academic issues.

The UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS--yes, they are undergraduates, they are "new to college, new to college life"--Um, okay... No excuses! They must have learned some common sense and respect, at least once, before. Undergraduates need to be more respectful. (This applies to the majority of the academic advisors, some graduate students, a few professors, and people in Riverside, in general.)

GRADUATE STUDENTS, who are teachers' assistants for courses, are indeed respectful, knowledgeable of the course materials (for some graduate students, they learn the materials with undergraduate students and can still be) helpful if you ask them. Graduate students, on campus are nice.

FOOD--you have what you need to survive--especially with the help of R'Pantry that has been created a few months ago to help starving students. HUB Dine-In have: pastas, salads, pizzas, Panda Express' sushi and poke bowl, burritos, breakfast platters (similar to McD's), Panda Express. Burgers, Fries, and finger foods at Latitude 55. As well as, a small coffee shop for your sweet-caffeinated cravings. Northeast of campus, there is Starbucks and Glenmor Market, where it carries similar menus to the HUB Dining Area. Along with that, the Barn always is known to have the best food on campus (burgers, burritos, salads, etc.). The convenience stores on campus and near dorms (dorms' restaurants) have snacks and small necessities. The prices for the foods and drinks...overpriced. I mean, what do you expect? Hahah

The CLASSROOMS--the buildings really need to be upgraded. Some classrooms are literally falling apart. The ceilings get damped when it pours. Some class chairs/desks are broken and many are worn out.

The SPORTS--the spirt for sports is pretty dead; but, the spirit for concerts is crazy (we can see how a small portion of society has become). The Intramural (IM) sports, clubs, recreational classes are amazing and FUN! If you are seeking for sports-spirit join or go watch and cheer for IM sports, sports clubs, and recreational classes.

UCR has been getting too overcrowded. It is getting harder to get into the classes you need to graduate. Be persistent! Hang in there! You will eventually graduate, if not academically, but you will grow as an individual.

So, why only 2 stars?
- 1) UCR have some stupendous professors who care about your academic and will take the initiative to do something to help you. (Yes, one star for the outstanding professors.)
- 2) The IM sports, sports clubs, and recreational classes are superb! You meet more considerate people there. (Yes, another star for the more spirited part of the UCR.)
- 3) The majority of the academic advisors fail to help you.
