Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) is a political subdivision of the State of Utah that provides comprehensive wholesale electric-energy, transmission, and other energy services. UAMPS was established in 1980 as a joint action agency to provide reliable and affordable power to its members. Today, UAMPS serves over 50 members across six western states.

The organization achieves this by owning and operating a diverse portfolio of generation resources that includes coal-fired, natural gas-fired, hydroelectric, wind-powered facilities. Additionally, UAMPS has invested in renewable energy projects such as solar farms and geothermal plants.
One of the key benefits of being a member of UAMPS is access to its transmission system. The organization owns over 1,500 miles of high-voltage transmission lines that connect its generation resources to its members' distribution systems. This allows for efficient delivery of power across multiple states.
In addition to providing wholesale electric-energy services, UAMPS offers other energy-related services such as energy efficiency programs and consulting services. These programs help members reduce their overall energy consumption while maintaining or improving their level of service.
UAMPS also plays an important role in promoting innovation within the industry through research and development initiatives. One example is the Carbon-Free Power Project (CFPP), which aims to develop small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) as an alternative source for carbon-free electricity generation.
Overall, UAMPS is dedicated to serving its members by providing reliable and affordable power while promoting innovation within the industry through research initiatives like CFPP project mentioned above.
