HIGHLY recommend you visit this museum if you have the opportunity!
Great air museum. Had a great time with our family while visiting from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Very clean and staff was courteous and always available.
Spent 5 hours here and still didn't see everything. We plan on going back again soon to see the rest.
Love this place! Can t believe it s free!
There is so much history here. Great place to visit!
The cafe & gift shop is also reasonably priced.
WoW, very impressive to see what man has accomplished since the dawn of flight.
Excellent For the whole family. Hours of great education and fun. Planes Rockets and more.
Outstanding.....Needed 2 days so stayed at the base campground which is a bit difficult to find. Gate guards weren't much help.
Start in the last building and work you way out and carry an umbrella if it threatens rain as the parking was a long walk from the entrance.
Again - Outstanding...
Wonderful museum!!! I loved the part where you can go into the past president's planes!! Completely wonderful.
What a wonderful free museum. All the volunteers seem excited to be there and are knowledgeable about the exhibits. There was more than I could look at in the three hours I had available, I will definitely come again someday to see the rest.
If you live in driving distance you should go at least once. They have plenty of interactive content for kids. Do be aware that you will be doing a lot of walking but there are plenty of places to sit throughout.
It's FREE! The experience was a lot better than I expected. Lots of great history but the ultimate highlight was being able to walk into all the retired Air Force One planes. Did I mention it was FREE! Please make sure and leave a donation so more people can enjoy this great museum.
We had been many times before but we went again to see the Memphis Belle. It was beautiful!
Epic place, we spent 5 hours here and barely made it around everything!
It's a great place to visit. I'm not a plane enthusiast by any means, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. I drive a 77' semi and trailer and I had no issues parking.
Admission is free, and I was able to walk through the first building with a guided tour. The tour guide was very professional, was able to clearly hear his words and he was very knowledgeable of plane history and exhibits in the Hangar. I recommend that everyone should go at least once.
This place is absolutely amazing! If you haven t been here you need to go! There s so much aviation and great history there. We ve made the 5 hour trip there 4 times now, I m not even super into airplanes, but it s just that good! Hands down the best museum we ve been too.
Not too often that you get to see a bunch of retired planes, including those of presidents past. Seeing such detailed history and engineering is worth whatever they charge at the gate, and worth the necessary security measures. Absolutely worth your time to go and see.
Plan ahead. No bottles, No water, No food, No backpacks. If you're traveling with a family make sure to eat at the picnic tables before going in.
Wonderful place, free admission! Wish I had more time to spend checking out the awesome place.
The best exhibit for airplane and to learn the history
Just amazing! My hubby and I are history lovers, we took a friends with us and all of us had a great time walking through so much history. If you go through and look at everything available, you could be there for days!
Have been here so many times, enjoyed every visit. Leaves me in awe of the technological advances that took place in the 60s, 70s and the 80s...
Amazing. Buy a map at the entrance for a suggested $5 donation and this way you will know to find each plane in the building. Take your time because this place is massive
The place is nice and you can see many type of planes here. The people were very courteous towards any query. This town is also where Wright brothers were born.
You can see some shows also but you must reach before 3pm I believe.
You can check timings online.
It is good place if you have interest in history of planes. Kids may also like it.
I've been to a ton of museums over the years and this one is always among the top each time. Each hangar is perfectly curated and offers a lot of cool history tid bits and short films. The Presidential section are like perfect time capsules. Always clean and filled with professional staff, this has always been an amazing stop for me.
One of my favorite museums to see. I live in Columbus and this is well worth the drive. I've been here 6 times and every time I have a great trip. Plenty of planes to see as well as a good deal of history. Cafeteria isn't to pricey which is a common issue with museums. Oh yeah, it is completely free. Anyone in the central Ohio area should visit here.
It was great to walk through the planes especially the president's plane
I have to agree with all the other reviews of this museaum. One if the coolest, most interesting museaums I have been to. Wear good walking shoes and enjoy!
Possibly the best free admission museum in the country. Name a plane from you childhood... they have one!
Much to see as it is definitely the largest of all. Everything inside, but some areas don't have A/C. Would recommend eating before hand cause the cafe upstairs is rather pricey. Had a great visit though for there was much to learn and see.
Absolutely love this place. You can take all day or just go through it quickly! I definitely recommend the former. There are some SERIOUSLY bada** stories in there about some bada** heroes.
A must see! It's free and the quality of the museum, airplanes, and exhibits is very impressive. I can spend the whole day perusing aviation history, under the wings of my favorite aircraft!
I took my younger children here and we had a fun 3 hours of learning about aviation from past to modern day. I used to take my older boys here almost every year 20 years ago and we always enjoyed our visit to this location. Plus what is great about it and just about every person I have asked never knew anything about it and they were surprized to hear it was a free adventure for the whole family to enjoy. So if you and the family are into aviation and want to learn more about our history in all the different war era you really need to go here you will not be disappointed.
Best airplane museum in the world - and free! Always take out of town guests here for a day.
This was incredible experience for all of us! We went to Air-force museum for first time thinking that we will be done in two hours, well...that didn t prove to be right, We spent almost 5 hours. Would definitely go there again as I didn t finish a lot, It was really interesting to see how we have advanced in technology in 100 years, Museum had the first aircraft model invented in 1903 and the latest( probably not that latest) aircraft next to each other!! Great experience! If you like history and science, you will definitely enjoy here!
An awesome place to visit if you have interest in aviation and air force
Awesome aviation museum, paid by your taxes. Go see it!
Free admission to see any plane you could imagine! AWESOME!
Took my great- grandson!! I was so excited to see Memphis Belle!! We truly enjoyed every minute!! Fabulous family outing!!
So many plans to see. Give your self a full day to see everything. Plus you can eat there too.
A must see!!
As good as the air and space museum in Washington.
Best to see in wintertime.. it's overcrowded in summer, especially during holidays...
Wow people from all over the world , good thing I have friends who studied in college
Scott Murphy gave a great tour of the first building and involved all the group. He had a good knowledge of the history of the the exhibits
Great place to take your family or your self. Free admission and parking. Too much to see and do in one day. Preplan your trip. If you intend to cover everything you will be there from beyond open to close. Everything is in chronological order arrayed in four buildings. If you want to go on guided tours or see the movies or VR experience you won't have time. A really special place for aeronautical engineering enthusiasts.
They made my day....was a memorable one....I need to bring my kids here too.
Very educational...kids and adults loved learning about history!
Probably the best aviation museum in the country, and entry is free! New aircraft are added as they are restored and space allows. It easily takes at least a day to get through the museum (without reading all the placards).
I still cannot believe that this incredible resource is in our backyards! Truly is a Smithsonian-class museum, and not just some place to take Air Force fans. Incredible history, presented in a way that is accessible for anyone. Be prepared to spend at least one solid day here. And you can't beat the price!
Great place to go for a relaxing walk surrounded by amazing history.
So much history. All the planes are in impeccable shape. There's are multiple restrooms and places to get food as well as a gift shop. They have a beautiful memorial garden as well with gazebos. Great for a picnic lunch.
Out standing the biggest assortment of aircraft I've ever seen take several days to see all the Different hangars
Great for kids and adults alike! I'm always amazed with the aircraft they have and even more so that it's free!
Great place to see historic planes, rockets, missiles, and other artifacts from around the world featuring those from the United States Air Force.
Incredible museum to visit. Bring the history of aviation to an incredible level. Best aviation museum in the US !
I went there for a school trip. My teacher pretty well summed it up when he said that it could take any where from 1 hour to the rest of time, depending on level of interest. i loved it, and will be returning soon.
Very interesting and a great deal of information noticed the there was a lot of technology in the 50's and 60's.
Cafeteria could use more selection (I like food) lol, and was quite pricey. Fantastic museum, even had a space shuttle mockup. Can tour previous Air Force One's and some cargo planes. Free parking and admission. Great place to see some of our nation's Air Force history!
Great place to visit while your in the Dayton OH area. The museum has lots of history and the best part its free to walk around . There are activities you can do for a fee. Worth a trip
This is amazing! Totally cool for all ages. My kids had a great time
Very cool place. Neat stuff everywhere. Be prepared to walk, and leave yourself several hours to see it all
A first rate one of a kind aircraft museum. Right here in Dayton, the premier museum for aircraft from the hot air balloons to space flight. Plan to spend at least a full day, maybe two.
Great place with a very friendly & knowledgeable staff. Brought my service dog-in-training there and she was treated great and welcomed with open arms. One of the best museums in the entire country!
The best experience you can get for free if you ask me. Get there early, as making your way through the multiple buildings and hangars will take some time. The displays are separated by era, from the beginning of flight, commissions of some experiments by the military, and through each war and military campaign. The even have rockets and satellites, including a replica of Sputnik.
Wow! What a museum!! If you are at all interested in anything related to aviation or the USAF, this place is a can't miss. Four huge hangars filled with hundreds of airplanes - many of them of significant historical importance.
The organization is by era, although it's not too rigid. There are also interesting dioramas and displays that help fill out the picture in various ways.
This place is so big and interesting that you should plan on multiple days or you'll get overwhelmed. The best news is that there are no entrance or parking fees. So go!
Beautiful, very interesting. A must see. Make sure you have at least 4 hours to see everything
This place is Awesome! Best display of aircraft that I have ever seen. We only had 2 hours, which is a shame. You need to spend a few days in order to get it all in. We are going back!
This museum is incredible! We spent two hours there and only made it through two hangars. More historic aircraft than I've ever seen plus fascinating exhibits about service men and women, lots of personal memorabilia. My kids loved it too.
Shared with friends from out of town very impressive
Had a ton of fun. It was a great place to see the growth of aviation as well as the military use of it.
Fantastic. Free. Something for everyone. Great volunteer staff helps guide you thru the massive displays. Please visit, you won't be disappointed.
Amazing collection of 360 planes..great exhibit s.. volunteers who shared interesting facts about exhibits..and free.. despite a huge marathon with 12000 participants, smooth drive in..good directiona
This place is truly a wonder. It is free and great for all ages. I got the opportunity to go several months back and have come back 3 additional times. Whether you're a history buff or simply just want to see the vast quantity of aircraft this place has to offer, then this place is perfect. Its kid friendly and perfect for families or even solo. The first time we spent 5 hours trying to read every fact and plaque on display. It is truly captivating to be able to walk the halls of history and see planes, helicopters, or even space shuttles. This place has it all. I cant wait to see any future additions to the museum!
History, History, History what a great place. We took our granddaughter who loves planes. She was very impressed (12 years old)
This place was so amazing! I could spend all day there! All there displays we really well maintained and super excellent reading material. The people who work/volunteer there are very friendly and helpful. Definitely a place to check out if you like aircraft or space.
Herein lies the heritage of the great power of America, a nation that solves problems by blowing them up or shooting at them with ever larger guns. There is tradition here. They revere these dread machines of war and either in awe of the unmitigated horror they might one day unleash. For the perfect peace in their minds necessarily takes the form of the perfect weapon. And for all their mad bent toward destruction, they treasure their liberty; even though it'll likely go up in smoke by virtue of their own hands
