From Michael Douglas to Justus Hanna to the next eager mind that's ready to matriculate in the fall, know now that this is going to be the place for you! Even if you don't know it yet mark my words with whatever it is that this generation uses to put marks on stuff and get to going at it because mark my words again I'm right. And you'll know what I mean the first morning you wake up from.....

Actually I'll stop there and leave it up to you to fill in the rest.

Great place to learn and live!

UCSB is a spin master school and a subset of the l...

UCSB is a spin master school and a subset of the larger university of california,
whose graduates and leaders have done more to promote the complete and utter environmental ruination and undoing of what once was the most beautiful place: California. It has served to destroy freedom, civil rights, ethics and morality, replacing it with their handbook of policies that protect their personal business interests that seek to advantage a minuscule population at the expense of millions. They will try to take your life, number you, tell you what to do, where to do it, when you should do it. Track you, undermine you, spy on you, break into your housing units, and terrorize you. They will arrest you for skateboarding. Steal your bike if you don t lock it. Falsely accuse you of anything they want to if they feel like it.

University dining and housing is corrupt. This is what happens when unintelligent uncaring mean people are given power and position who don t believe in the rights of man, only in narrowly defined policies that undermine U.S. Constitutional law. Unlawful entry into dorm rooms and university apartments by staff is common. Intentional detonating of fire alarms in university buildings used to harass the population. Random unlawful searches. Over-billing practices-phone, barc accounts, dining accounts. Roving band of undercover employees narcs, spies, and watches. Executive leadership overpaid and incompetent. Lottery-style housing, financing, and life gives random success based on nothing but chance instead of work effort. Affirmative action policies giving high level supervisorial positions to unqualifieds, who use the positions and money to attempt to reverse educate and qualify themselves. An administration of me instead of service. Overfunded athletics. An unserious school that takes being absolutely incompetent seriously. Spend days and months disputing bills. Have your student account blocked.

A world class university situated on 708 acres (main campus) located on the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the 10 school University of California system and was founded in 1944. The original campus is located on a former Marine Corps base. Some of the original marine corps buildings are still in use today. It is one of the few Universities in the United States that has it own beach.

Great school for engineering and sciences!

Great school for engineering and sciences!
I wasn t forced to take many GE classes as an engineer but the diversity course requirement forces just about every student to receive exposure to the ______ studies departments which are categorically anti-American, progressive trash. I would not send my children here to pursue any nontechnical degree.

The physical location and quality of the campus are incredible.

Yes, the weather is great most of the year, and being located right next to the beach, are all great selling points to students, but this is also a great academic university. It's the place local tech companies are looking to grab great young talent.

It is almost as difficult getting a job here as it applying to be a student. Positions are covered and always competitive. I applied to almost 30 jobs before I was able to even get an interview. Well worth it.

I absolutely adore UCSB! This place has the perfect combination of excellent academics and a gorgeous location right on the beach! Don't believe the stereotype that UCSB is a "party school". Within the last 5-10 years the party scene has greatly dissipated due to increased competition for admission and an extreme emphasis on superior education.

Beautiful campus with it's own beach and views from the cliff. Around UCSB are a couple small family owned fast food restaurants. Sometimes I wish I would've moved here for the university years instead of staying in the cold dread winters of the Midwest ;)

What a wonderful place to come visit. I was so impressed with the high quality of education here, and also, the wonderful location, the entire spirit and vibe of this school.
I had taught summers at UCLA for 10+ years, but never ventured down here before, so I was very pleasantly surprised.
I will definitely be back to do a whole tour and check this school out. I love that it is in such a pretty Cali location, if you are looking for a school that is away from the crazy LA life, this is it.
Congratulations to all the wonderful grads I met, and especially, our darling Amanda .

I graduated 6 years ago. I love UCSB but I also see the pros and cons of attending this gorgeous campus.
Pros:
Top notch professors, including noble prize holders. Gorgeous campus right on the beach. Perfect weather. Academically challenging. Top research school in California and in the nation. Nationally recognized. Part of the prestigious UC system. Great value for a quality education.

Cons:
You will feel like a number, one in a million. At times you will feel lost in a sea of students. My first class was a psychology course with 900 students. Yes, 900. Professors won't know your name. There is little diversity. Your morals and values will be challenged daily living in a college town lol. You might end up graduating with a drinking problem and know several people who will too. You will be fixated on your weight and become very weight conscious.

All that being said, I absolutely love UCSB and don't regret living there for 4 years. I had the worst time of my life and the best time of my life there. UCSB is not for everyone and I know a couple of people who transferred out. Most of them to UC Santa Cruz because that was more their scene. UCSB is a party school and everything you hear about that is true. Yet you're surrounded by very intelligent people who care about their academics and most of them put school first. I was admitted into a competitive grad program for my MBA at a smaller private school, and I absolutely recommend going the smaller school route. I really enjoyed it coming from a school of tens of thousands. Although I wouldn't trade my UCSB experience, I would never allow my 8 month old daughter to attend UCSB when she's older. It's much too liberal.

Recent campus review\ visit day. Nice local and campus... not at all great. Overpriced and little or no help for top out of state students. Oh well ND, Michigan, Havard etc. here I come. I can always move to Cali after I graduate but without 200 grand in debt.

I studied at UCSB for two quarters as an exchange student last year. A+ campus and friendly students with good vibes! With fine weather all year round and located right by the beach with beautiful coastlines, UCSB is every student's dream school. And I especially appreciate the industriousness of their students! Yes they party, but they study harder! (This I witnessed!) I'm now in the States again and will go back to UCSB this weekend to give my favourite university a visit. Go Gauchos!

Graduated YEARS ago but still visit several times a year because I have serious withdrawals. I am the luckiest mom on earth though because now my daughter attends UCSB. Now I have a built in excuse to visit ! The combination of the breathtaking location, perfect weather, laidback physical environment, stimulating academic environment, and friendly people cannot be topped at any world-class university. I just flat-out LOVED it there. My daughter is already hooked as well.

The best years of my college career were at UCSB. One of the best UC campuses around - located just a couple minutes from the beach by foot, with mountain views as well. Strong reputable academic programs with Nobel laureates to show. Challenging coursework but in a collaborative environment. Definitely would recommend.

Worst school ever for me, the professors in some sectors are a joke...Also, watch out for the school misc. expenses for they will wipe you clean if you let them. The financial dept. messed my whole school life up because of the misinformation that many people from many depts. gave me. So, carefully watch your billing statement every quarter while attending here. For e.g. they force you to have their health insurance which costs over $800 a quarter (and the insurance is horrible) along with many other insane fees they will tag you with. I am relieved to be done with this place. Yeah it's a pretty view, but it also smells like sewer and some of the class rooms (that they never show you on tour) are absolutely horrible.
