Both visits the doctor spent 30-45 minutes actually assessing and evaluating. Follow up, additional testing & screening seem appropriate. Comfortable feeling in the facility. Good environment for healing & serious issue treatment.

My very first ER visit to this facility. As I waited to see a physician, a tick was crawling on the floor, and I left. This was very disturbing to see. I suggest the hospital contract highly reputable pest control services! When I informed the front desk nurse of the tick, he stated "we have bugs all over the hospital. " Totally unprofessional response! I will NEVER set foot in this place again! Thank God I have other options for healthcare providers.

Normally get good service at Tuomey but not this weekend:
Spent Friday and Saturday in ER after back spasmed (over 7 hours each day-guess it was a bad weekend). Pain down right leg with numbness in foot, loss of strength in ankle, and could not lift toes or move ankle to the right. My PCM sent me there on Friday then nurse advice sent me back on Saturday after I reported conditions wore getting worse and ER dr at Friday s visit said I needed an MRI but did not do one. ER Dr on Saturday also said I needed an MRI but They were not allowed to call techs in outside of normal hours to do it. Said it had to be scheduled during normal operational hours. Since got there at 3:00pm on Friday, too bad it took over 4 hours just to be seen. He said he thought they did do them for the ER s at McLeod, Richland, and/or Lexington. Wish they had told me that on Friday, might have called and endured the pain of the drive on Saturday instead of returning to them. Sad that Techs time off is more important than the patient health care. Assume it is $ related. It is not like they don t have the equipment right there in the hospital. At least now I know.

I just got my second COVID shot and they were so organized! Everyone there is very helpful and kind. The minute I walked in the
door, Nijah greeted me. They were all wonderful. Thank you all for your hard work and for making what I thought was going to be a stressful experience not stressful at all!

Absolutely worst healthcare I ever received. No answers but plenty of very poor care. Rude uncaring attitude towards me. Best use for the building is to knock the walls out and turn it into a parking ramp. I survived because I got sick of the nastiness and signed out and walked across town to get my vehicle. Nothing I am saying is a exaggeration

I had the best of care while I was in and out of surgery. All of the nurses were great very easy to talk to and very thorough. I want to especially Thank my OR nurse Jennifer. She has a nice approach when she walks in to talk to you. She was very professional and sweet all at the same time. Every surgery I have ever had has been at that hospital. I have a lot of fun respect for the staff and the hospital. Thank you all for the great care. God bless you all. Angela Baker

I was in Sumter recently on a brief visit when I landed up in the emergency room of Tuomey hospital. It was a Sunday morning around 5am when I woke to extreme pains in my stomach. I knew what it was, I was having a small bowel obstruction. I hadn't had one in over four years, but those pains I endured never left my mind. I asked my lady where the closest hospital was. She said in Sumter, there was only one hospital and that wad Tuomey. Since I was from out of town, I went online to check the reviews of the hospital. It was very disheartening to see such poor reviews of this hospital. By this time it's now 6am and my pains are intolerable. My lady asked if I wanted for her to drive an hour to Columbia to get to a better hospital. I didn't have any options, I was in horrendous pain, I said take me to Tuomey. When I first walked in the ER, I was very skeptical....ok, the truth.....I was wondering, "Dear lord what am I doing here??" Well.....the almighty heard my prayer and sent me the staff of Tuomey hospital Everyone was courteous and that was not a Southern hospitality thing....it was we are here to help you get well thing. The staff of the 3rd floor, those ladies were on point and provided great service because they actually cared about their patients. Because of my line of work I notice operations and protocols of the places I work and frequent. This hospital was maintained, well staffed and operated in an efficient manner. I didn't plan on checking into the hospital when I landed there 2 weeks ago, but I am glad that I was treated and taken care of so tremendously well when I had to. People of Sumter, you have a great hospital.
