Triad Stage: Bringing the Magic of Theater to North Carolina
Triad Stage is a regional professional theater company that has been entertaining audiences in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina for over 20 years. Founded in 2002 by Preston Lane and Richard Whittington, Triad Stage has become a beloved cultural institution in the region, known for its high-quality productions, innovative staging, and commitment to community engagement.
At Triad Stage, the mission is simple: to create extraordinary theatrical experiences that enrich the lives of our audiences. We believe that theater has the power to inspire, challenge, and transform people's lives. That's why we strive to produce plays that are both entertaining and thought-provoking - works that explore important social issues while also celebrating the human spirit.
Over the years, Triad Stage has produced a wide range of plays - from classic dramas like Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire" and Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" to contemporary works like Lynn Nottage's "Sweat" and Quiara Alegría Hudes' "Water by the Spoonful." We've also commissioned new plays from some of today's most exciting playwrights - including Preston Lane himself.
One thing that sets Triad Stage apart from other theaters is our commitment to community engagement. We believe that theater should be accessible to everyone - regardless of their background or financial situation. That's why we offer a variety of programs designed to make our productions more accessible - including discounted tickets for students and seniors, pay-what-you-can performances on select dates, and free post-show discussions with members of our artistic team.
We also work closely with local schools and community organizations through our education programs. These programs include student matinees (where we bring school groups into our theaters for special daytime performances), workshops led by professional actors and directors (where students can learn about acting techniques or stagecraft), as well as residencies where we work with teachers over an extended period of time to integrate theater into their curriculum.
In addition to producing plays at our two mainstage theaters (the Pyrle Theater in Greensboro and Hanesbrands Theatre in Winston-Salem), Triad Stage also hosts a variety of special events throughout the year. These events include concerts featuring local musicians or touring acts (like jazz legend Wynton Marsalis), staged readings of new plays-in-progress (where audiences can get an early look at works still in development), as well as holiday-themed shows like "A Christmas Carol."
If you're looking for an unforgettable night out at the theater - whether you're a seasoned theatergoer or someone who's never been before - then look no further than Triad Stage.
