Travancore Titanium Products Limited (TTPL) is one of the oldest factories in the Capital City of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala State. It was set up in the mid forties in the then Kingdom of Travancore for producing Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) from the Ilmenite Ore found in plenty in the Beaches of South Kerala. At that point of time it was a monopoly undertaking with the product, Titanium Dioxide, being sold to all major Paint Manufacturers of the country. The Company, which became a Public Sector Undertaking after India's Independence, was making huge profits for many decades. With increasing global competition and inefficient operations, its profitability has taken a nose dive since the beginning of the 21st Century.

Also the continuous discharge of acidic effluents into the Arabian Sea, has been giving TTPL a bad name. Still, the Company continues to be a leading employer of Trivandrum City

It is a company dealing with production of titanium dioxide at a very large scale.I worked there as an intern and studies the working. Titanium dioxide Tio2 is a substance which is used for whitening purposes. For example, it is used in Colgate for whitening. Also used in paints. But now the company is running at huge loses.

This is one of the factory situated in between vettucaud and kochuveli. It was started from a long years ago. There is a lot of job opportunities available here. ITI passed students can apply here for job. The only demerit of this factory is that they pump the waste water to the sea and that will pollute the sea
