Cosy place full of locals, read the reviews which stated that there could be a long queue or turned away at the door. But we were brought straight in after a short wait. The owner explained to us the menu since it was in full Italian, describing how each dish was made. Excellent experience and great food. Will come back again!

Special place, high level dishes, normal price. Especially for those who are leaving from central Bologna and have an hour of waiting I highly recommend it, if only for the proximity to the station and the kindness of the staff.

The Restaurant Owner is a competent person and obviously in love with his work, he passionately explains every single course. Dishes inspired by the Bolognese culinary tradition, prepared with good raw materials. The courses are not particularly abundant, even if cured. The gramigna with sausage ragout is good, I don't think pasta with asparagus and pecorino is exceptional. The "tasting" of cheeses (12 euros) was a bit tight. The restaurant is nice as it is a trattoria, but the bill is a bit salty: 2 first courses, water, 1 cheese tasting (for 1 person) and 2 desserts, 50 Euro.

Located in a strategic position, 5 minutes from the train station and 10 from the center. Friendly staff and prepared, cozy and quiet, genuine dishes at competitive prices, I really enjoyed the service of the dishes. It is my intention to return with a little more calm

What a magical place!!!

What a magical place!!!

This small local restaurant does only one lunch and one dinner seating but it s so worth it.

The owner is so welcoming (provided you have reservation or are very lucky) as restaurant only sits 35 people. He speaks Italian and English and explains the menu in full. Origins of all ingredients, types of cooking, specials of the day.

The menu only has 4 starters, 4 pasta dishes and 3 mains, with daily specials in each category too.

We left around 55 per person for an absolute feast here including wine.

The fame is absolutely deserved, we really enjoyed it.
Cozy place with well-kept furnishings, small tables but correctly spaced.

Small menu but with very interesting proposals, even of the day; it is "told" in detail when ordering: this is also taking care of the customer.

- Appetizer with potato cream and sprinkling of black truffle: pleasant, even if the perfume is not very incisive.

- Sliced sirloin tasty and cooked at the right point, good baked potatoes.
- Closing with a good English soup, as per tradition.
- Bottled wine (excellent advice from the owner), water and coffee.

Account of 97 euros: I would say absolutely appropriate to the meal.

Reservation is strongly recommended.

Beautiful experience! Very efficient and prepared service, never intrusive! The food is really delicious ... I put 4 stars instead of 5 for the winery that I think I found a little poor, I was expecting a nice wine list. But otherwise welcome, food, service, 5-star rating!

Wide expectations only partially confirmed. Local certainly genuine with very friendly owner and staff. Good but not exceptional tagliatelle. Best dish certainly tasted the bacon coated rabbit. Sauvignon of the house extremely weak and not at a good price. Value for money in my opinion to the limit.

Small, very local restaurant with fantastic dishes and attentive staff. Would love to be able to enjoy this venue whenever we want, but living in US doesn't allow for it. If you are in Bologna, make a reservation (required) and have the traditional Bolognese fare and see that it will change your outlook on Italian dishes.

It was the first time that I had the opportunity to go and eat there .. Very nice the environment and also hospitable as the owner..The service polite and can do their job..The place is not very large as soon as you enter there is the coffee counter plus two large rooms can accommodate 30 people ?? .. Maybe they are too many ... Anyway, the decor is informal and makes you feel at home .. the most important thing is that you eat well . above all the ricotta tortelloni are number 1 the good cut. .green guitar spaghetti with porcini mushrooms ... The ricotta dessert is excellent .. A little high prices.

My favorite restaurant in Bologna. Not only is the good incredibly good (try the tortellini) but the staff makes the extra effort to make you feel at home. They even take the time to explain the entire menu in both Italian and English. Will come back anytime.
It s essential to book in advance.

Modenese cuisine, strictly in the hills of Bologna. Outstanding quality. Raw material of excellence. It offers rare dishes, sweetbreads like I haven't tasted in years. The tortelli stuffed with ricotta of white cows go beyond adjectives, all the proposals, however, deserve a taste. Homemade pasta is homemade.

In the dining room the service is excellent and the explanation of the dishes and the method with which they cook them is fantastic. You can see there is passion in the air! Highly recommended

Interesting place and not far from the center like other famous ones (Meloncello, giggina), courteous staff, excellent food and quite varied (compared to the usual tortellini in broth and green lasagna). It seems they are working hard to get organic products, if someone considers it a positive note. Old style homemade pasta and dishes explained personally one by one. High price, but in the average of Bologna: 30/35 per person for two courses covered wine and water.

Primo piatti were taglitelli Bolognese and tortellini in bro do featuring a delicious capon broth.Mains were delicious meatballs and porcini in a light sauce and a roasted guinea fowl stuffed with olives, mushroom and stuffing. The skin on that was crispy and delicious...the inside meat moist and tender.

Fresh pasta, interesting and delicious combinations, and friendly and welcoming service make this a wonderful dining experience in Bologna. The pasta is home made and light, so even after stuffing yourself (which you will want to do!) you will leave satisfied and comfortable. Make sure to save room for the tasty cheesecake!! Highly recommend.

Good food, friendly service, good value and cute ambience. Only negatives: beyond the house wine no wines by the glass was offered and this strange service charge that was added called "copperto". The latter which was at 2 euros per diner, came out of the tip we'd have otherwise left. This is the only place we've been levied such a fee in Italy so far.

My wife and I walked 25 minutes in this cold and we pitch up and they tell us we need to make a reservation.

Don't care a bit for us visitors from South Africa taking the time and effort to eat at their restaurant.

Edit: I am not sure how to respond to the owners reply, but if he has even half a brain, he would know that he's website has no English version so how must we smell that we needed to make a reservation.

The pure arrogance from his reply and evidently no care attitude is obvious and people should stay away from these type of restaurants. Common decency trumps good food any day. Even a McDonald fast "junk" food will have higher ethics and morals from their owners.

Perhaps the best surprise that Bologna has given me. Very kind staff, friendly, clean and climate with a very peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. But this is not the best part, the best part, as it should always be for a restaurant, is undoubtedly the food. Excellent dishes, abundantly brought at the most honest prices, pay no more than the undisputed quality of the products. Finally, the non-ultra-ultra, practically impossible to describe in words, the dessert "chocolate cake". A cake without yeast or dark chocolate milk that literally melts in your mouth. One of the best desserts I've ever tasted and one of the best places I've ever been. To say the least recommended!

My favorite. Discovered by chance one evening this "trattoria" remained in my heart. The owner, the chef, and all the staff are incredible. The dishes are revisited and always special ... all taken care of with passion and love ... I already want to go back!

"Trattoria di Via Serra is just a simple trattoria", we know it's not like that. From the simplicity of the dishes offered by the Bolognese cuisine, it is incredible how a modern reinterpretation of flavors mix tradition with revolution. Unique and original flavors, from first courses to desserts, exclusively explained by thread and by sign at the table before ordering.
The environment is really comfortable, never before have I felt so at home during a dinner outing. Staff really nice, kind, and helpful.
At least once in your life, it's worth going!

Via Serra a guarantee. Returned several times and never disappointed. Excellent and tasty dishes, never banal. Spectacular staff for sympathy, efficiency and competence. Proposed prices. Difficult to find a place if not booking well in advance ... for obvious reasons.
