Cute museum for about a 2 hour visit. We have two small children and the loved it but they aren't actually so open to kids running around (cause ya know falling off the platform and such) but it's fairly kid friendly.

A fascinating walk through the history of New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority, paying tribute to the workers from the original sandhogs and construction workers to the dispatchers who controlled the system during 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy, and up to the modern day. Absolutely worth it.

Fun exhibits, especially the vintage subway cars, but getting in is very MTA: super annoying and slow. The free Wifi is a highlight of red tape nonsense: you need a sponsor, and to provide your first born / dna to get a bit of internet. ridiculous.

Very cool place!

Very cool place!

A story you can touch.
A lot of interesting things from an engineering point of view.

There are children's entertainment and educational activities.
A subway-style toilet (much cleaner and better than real subway toilets) and a drinker.

Price - $ 10 per adult, counting hours at 2 minimum.

Great interesting museum, perfect if you're into trains, subway and New York history. It's not that big. The best part for me was resting in old cars looking at vintage ads. There was extreme amount of yelling kids and soon I got tied. If you're not a fan of loud kids, bring your fave oldie style music and earphones :)

Incredible history of New York trains and buses, the building of the tunnels and train stations, historical maps, and actual old subway cars with the original advertisements! What a walk through the past. They even have the front cans of two old buses.

Great museum about the history of the metro. Of course, topics such as the construction of the subway under New York, 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy should not be missing. The Unbahn wagons on display at $ 10 per adult were also not too expensive. It's probably too boring for kids. But otherwise very exciting

I ve been to some unique train museums, so believe me when I say that this one has got to be one of the most interesting I ve seen. How many major cities of the world can boast a museum of this caliber within their borders? Not many, I can tell you. With the selection they have at the museum, you can spend quite a long time here

The New York Museum of Transportation is a museum for curious babies. In the 60,000-square-foot pavilion, you will be able to explore the city's urban layout and railway system and witness the city's development. P.s The scene in the compartment is retro-minded in minutes!

Very interesting museum. I was for the first time in this museum before 2 week and I find out very interesting things. I am sure that if you have free time you can check it out and find something that can impress you. A lot of cool locations around this location if you get hungry or if you want a drink.

If you love trains, this is an oasis. You can walk through many different model subway cars (and even see the old advertisements!) If you don't like trains, you can either learn to love them by visiting this museum, or you can stay at home and miss out.

Very nice museum of the subways and buses of. New York City. We had a group tour with a conductor, he pointed out differences in cars over years and recounted the history of the subway system.

Fun Museum Experience for Adults AND Children. Must-see for any New Yorker or visitor who enjoys history of transportation, or anyone who uses mass transit. Sitting in the retired, century old train cars was awesome!

This museum is not as notable as other museums in NYC. It's definitely a must see and by far my favorite. So much history. There's every turnstile used in NYC. There's even vintage trains and buses you can board. I come here everytime I'm in NYC.

Great reminder of how fortunate we are to have such an extensive public transportation system! Love the vintage trains, old maps and gift shop. Residents should use the library's culture pass to get free tickets

Interesting enough to make it worth a trip, but won't blow you away. I mean, they have a huge section on turnstiles. The rebuild after Sandy and the response to 9/11 were the highlights. Make sure to go downstairs to see all the different train cars. It's really neat.

Anyone who has ever ridden the NYC subway has to visit this museum! Such great history of the subway system in here. The museum is set in a 1937 subway station, and there are trains that you can explore dating back to the 40's. Gift shop offers plenty of great gifts for the subway lover or the casual city goer. A must visit gem in the city.

This museum is great for all ages. Children to adults alike. I've worked on transit projects which probably added to the appeal, but it was extremely informative and unique. Friendly staff as well. Highly recommend

A unique experiance from the old trains and other equipment to the history of the subways and other mass transit systems in NYC. Worth it if you even have a shred of interest in trains, mass transit, or even history.

It was a nice experience. Bigger than I expected and had a lot of informative exhibits. However, they were all very specific to the subway. I was hoping to find something about the LIRR but, aside from a photo or two, there was nothing. Disappointing in that regard. Otherwise, it's quite cool. There is also a party room and a cafeteria. Be aware that people tend to bring their kids and, although some of the exhibits are kid friendly, it means that the place will be more hectic than you'd expect. Aside from that, the vintage train carts downstairs are fantastic and worth a visit.

The concept of this museum is really cool and to see the artifacts is a neat experience. I left with more questions than answers...I'm still curious to know *how* the subway operates (the network, how the train cars are steered, the role of the conductors, etc.) Despite that, small enough museum that it's manageable to get through in an hour or so and fee was reasonable.

It's actually an abandoned subway station connected to the A line. They have a gift shop, old turnstiles, maps, buses, subway trains, exhibits related to the entire New York transportation system, and a nice staff. The fan trips are a bit high priced, but if you're a train or bus buff, check it out. The old trains are worth the visit. You can walk through them and even sit. Great indoor excursion for a rainy day.
