6th April 2019 5.07pm. The male triage nurse/ patient assessment in the ER is awful. He's abrupt, and snappy and you can tell he takes joy in putting patients in the waiting room. What shocks me the most are the other bad reviews about triage nurses behaviour and lack of courtesy.
You know what's even more hilarious, we donate money to these guys every year. That obviously stops happening right now.

After a phone call to the QEH at 1:00am on Christmas morning, and in acute pain, I was encouraged to attend the ER. Triage was efficient and friendly, everyone knew what they were doing, tests were carried out and I was admitted. I missed Christmas day with the family, but knew that I was better off in hospital. Thank you to all personnel who cared for me.

Knee Replacements: It is had to believe that any Australian Hospital Can have a 6 year wait to be seen not operated on when you require a knee replacement. Beware when they tell you to have your doctor upgrade the urgency of your replacement. Apparently urgent requests together with Ct scan information can get over looked or even lost. God Bless SA health .

I had the unfortunate experience of finding myself in Emergency on Friday 6th March 2015. I have to say the staff were all marvelous. While they were professional at all times, they were also very compassionate and even light hearted when appropriate. I don't remember a lot of names, but to Daniel and Steve and others, Thankyou.

I was admitted and went to North1A where again the staff were very nice and also very professional. Tracy, Melody, Dr Raj I thank you and hope this is seen by you.

There were many others involved with my care but I didn't get your names. I thank you all.

A despicable hospital. A most horrible experience!...

A despicable hospital. A most horrible experience!!!!

The moment I arrived staff were snickering about me to other staff.
Reception staff giggled at patients in waiting room from behing their tinted enclosure.
Upon noticing my glare, several of the females hid behind their computers. They slowly peeked out, as if it were a hidey-seek Game. I caught them laughing, just like it were a thrill to share their "joke" with other staff members.

Schoolgirls maybe more mature.

After a while I was taken to ED cubicle. Finally saw a Dr. Long waits in between. A male nurse was kindly toward me. Most were rash and unendearing.

Despite considerable pain and being unable to walk without aid, the night Guard informed me "they think you're just putting it on". She disclosed that she hates the way staff here treat clients, stating she think it's "wrong". She advised me I should have gone to Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) for allover better treatment.

Other people similarly advised going RAH, or Flinders Medical Centre for professional Care.

Attending this pathtic, poorly run hospital was Huge mistake. I was not properly assessed or treated for my hip problem causing limp, pain and fevers for 11 full months.

The head nurse addressed me in condesceding tones, more like she was addressing a naughty girl not a genuine patient.

Subsequently lectured her staff on treating me equally as disdainfully.

I received no food, bar one sandwich, since I arrived at around 6 pm on Tue, til around 11 am on Wed.

I was given an unstable walking frame. Standing by counter waiting for a staff member, I felt weak and my leg was giving in. I stopped myself from falling heavily by leaning against Counter allowing me to slide to ground without hurting myself.

Head nurse saw this. When a staff member came to my aid she told them not to help me, adding 'it was slow and controlled'.

I was weak and lyed down on floor. I'd been trying to ask for food. Two to three hours earlier I'd been told I'd be given something soon. It didn't happen.

Instead of helping me Security were called. l felt overwhelmingly tired and needed to lye down. The matronIARC snapped "get off the floor". When I asked for help she ignore my plea and marched off telling staff to call Police

I recall fading in and out of consciousness. No food plus overwhelming tiredness and fatigue from pain and distress were all factors these unprofessional QEH staff simply don't qualify to recognise.

They are biased, predjudiced, derogatory, disrespectful, snickering delinquents who severely lack basic understanding skills and human decency.

What a shame such infantiles are allowed to work in public relations sectors.

I sincerely hope this review serves as a warning to all considering going QEH . It may just save you the patronising, prejudice and demeaning treatment this place appears to freely dish its patients.

If you genuinely care for yourself, please heed wholesome advice....Avoid this nasty place like the plague..... Seek genuine, professional Medical Care from a renowned, reputable Hospital or Medical Centre.

Take care. Your life is too precious to toy with. Save yourself an injustice and avoid game players at QEH.

The worst hospital I have used in my life, I waited at the reception for more than 5 hours without the slightest attention and respect, I was feeling a lot of pain but the reception staff think they are more important than the queen. When I was finally seen, they didn't have an after hours ultrasound to perform my diagnosis. With a swollen leg, I had to wait two days to find a place to perform the exam. Go away from this place if you need help.

I was in high dependency for 24 hours after surgery and I can not speak more highly of nurses Davey and Angela in the orthopaedic ward. Patient, skilled and caring, not only with me but other patients as well, no matter how demanding. Other areas of the hospital are lacking but as with all customer service- some people are better at it than others.

Have just spent 2 nights and have absolutely no complaints . Staff were so lovely, nothing to much trouble and always polite and courteous. From admission to discharge I have no issues . My only whinge was the food but not unusual in any hospital. I am pleased to say that the reputation it has was so wrong in my instance. Wouldn't hesitate to return if the need arose.

Absolutely appalling triage nurse and reception staff. The triage nurse thought she knew better than a doctor. I had a letter from the doctor with everything the hospital needed to know. The triage nurse disregarded what the doctor had written and said I had something completely unrelated. She also had no respect for privacy as she shouted through the window for the people in line to hear behind me. There was a man behind the counter at reception who barely acknowledged me, I had to leave and go to the next closest hospital so I knew I would be taken care of thoroughly and in a humane manner. I will never recommend anyone to go here.

I wish to thank all involved with my unexpected minor surgical procedure.
From the initial reception through to recovery, every person was professional and polite. Although I had a long wait due to other emergencies at the time, the outcome was most positive. Even the porters and cleaners were diligent and friendly. I was also impressed with the way everything was repeatedly cleaned making me feel reassured.
I don't know how the nurses can have the energy to keep up with the constant demands on their services.
Bouquets to everyone.

On all admissions found the Nurses excellent. Caring, competent and professional, from the ER to the wards. All staff very polite and helpful. Friendly and dedicated.Great dieticians, physios and pharmacists also. Medical staff very thorough. The only critcism being that perhaps the Medicos need to communicate with the patient's carers/ families to keep them in the loop when the patients themselves find info given on ward rounds difficult to understand or remember. Otherwise well done QEH.( lovely cafeteria staff. Great coffee but cakes not as good after the recent change over. )

I have just had a Bi-lateral mastectomy at the QEH, and I wanted to say that I have had the best surgery, Nurses and Doctors that I could possibly have ever hoped for. I am nothing but so very thankful and grateful for their compassion and help through what is a difficult time for most women, but they made it so that I will never look back upon my experience there as nothing but that which I am so very appreciative. I just wish I could go back to each and every one of the individuals that cared for me from the admissions to the discharge and thank them all one by one. They will always have a huge warm spot in my heart.

Be very careful at this hospital. Do not take any doctor or nurse for granted. Ask twice before you intend to trust. I have been present at sexual assualt and a death. The hospital assaulted drugged and left a man to die in a room alone with no help. No nurse or doctor was charged over the assault and death. In fact it seems they blamed the victim rather than their own actions. Please look out for your family and friends if they enter this hospital try not to leave them alone.

Let my partner's appendix rupture as detailed the surgery for so long. A week later, I got sent home from the emergency department despite suffering chest pains and shortness of breath. I was bullied into thinking I either had the coronavirus (I tested negative, obviously) or I was just making it up. Since this time, I have continued to experience pain, and now also deep depression, stress, and anxiety, having lost my last confidence in medical staff. You're so much better off staying at home than going to this disgusting place.

I was recently discharged from the Queen Elizabeth...

I was recently discharged from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after spending one week inside with a fractured tibia and unfortunately would have to say it was a rather horrible experience.

I entered through the emergency entrance, and didn t receive any pain relief for almost 4 hours, which was quite concerning due to the amount of pain I was in, that was the only unsatisfactory trait I found in the emergency department, apart from that the staff were really friendly, helpful and caring. It was also nice to see how well everyone communicated.

Unfortunately when I was admitted into the actual hospital, the traits I mentioned before did not seem to carry over. I found that most of the staff were quiet forceful and rude and I felt if I had something to say it was overlooked. I was being told all sorts of different things by the doctors and different nurses about times of surgery to what pain refeif I was allowed to be taking. By the end of my stay I felt as though I couldn t believe anything anyone said because as soon as I had a new nurse everything would change. In the one week I was there I missed 3 meals and when enquied about them I was told that all i could get was a sandwich which I couldn t keep down due to the medication I was taking. So the level of care just wasn t there.

I would definitely recommend getting private health insurance, because you do not want to be stuck there for a week, realising no one really cares what happens to you or how you might be feeling.

Rude triage nurse who used unnecessary and condescending tone when speaking to you. Went into the ER with my partner who was sent to the hospital from work as he was worried about getting chest pains. Not only was she rude to the elderly gentleman in front of us but throughout my partners evaluation she made us feel like we were silly to have even come into the ER for this. When I asked her to simply (please) stop speaking to us like we were silly we were met with further rude comments that continued until the evaluation was over. So disappointing.

Took my elderly relative to have a sleep study test. My first impression of the QEH was that it was a bit rundown, a lot of the old buildings had gone. & plenry of carparks now stand where buildings used to be. The front entrance looks like it do with a huge facelift, it looks depressing almost derelict, especially at 7pm & at 7am. Its like a ghost town. Upon getting to the 4th floor, there seemed to be a urine smell in the hallway/waiting area. The sleep studies technichians/staff were fantastic & were very helpful. Its just a pity the other hospitals don't have designated sleep study areas & facilities, as it woukd be a huge hike for people in the northern, southern or country areas

The worst hospital I've been to in SA where normal people and meth junkies get treated alike. Some of the older triage nurses and staff need to be retrained in reasonable behaviour and common courtesies. It's also possible I was being subjected to racial discrimination while the rest get on fine. Either way, my experience was terrible. Out of the 4 or 5 people I interacted with 3 were quite rude and 1 yelled at me when I told her not to touch my swollen ankle since it hurt too much. She did not bother wearing gloves before touching my ankle either.

On Saturday December 22 sustained a fall injury and attended the Emergency Department at the QEH.
I arrived around 1 in the afternoon and left at 9 in the evening. Throughout this period a most comprehensive range tests were carried out including heart analysis, Xrays, ultra sound, blood tests and CT scans, nothing was overlooked or left to chance.
I can only say the service was excellent and exceeded my expectations, more importantly from a patient's point of view was the positive and caring attitude of the staff. I would like to name the staff but can only remember a few names and fear I would neglect to include all concerned with welfare.
My heartfelt thanks to all from reception to discharge.

I have been spending a lot of time at the QEH late...

I have been spending a lot of time at the QEH lately as my best friend is still in there, she has been there for 2 months or more and at times she was being very difficult to the nurses and every time they would speak to her with respect and a smile. When you have seen patients screaming and throwing stuff at the nurses and staff it makes me wonder where they get there patients from as I couldn't put up with the abuse that they get. I also have been having to take my dad to the hospital for his appointments and my mum also spent some time in the QEH. My mum's Dr called me to let me know what the test results where that he had done on mum and he was concerned about one of the results so he told me to get her to the hospital for a blood test as it was night time and he was concerned about her heart and kidney, so I got mum to the QEH and they rerun the test and they decided to keep her in and do x-ray and scans to make sure everything was alright, in the end mum spent a week in there because of a blockage in her kidney and they had to do a little procedure to relieve the pain mum was in they then let her come home until they could operate . That took a week or two and the hole time she was there she got the best of care like mum and dad have always had at the QEH mum is now home and feeling good. Last year I broke my ankle and ended up in the emergency department of the QEH and I got the same respect from everyone that works in emergency from the triage nurse to the Dr's. The QEH is a great hospital and we would be lost without it.

July 30! ! Influenza A complicated by bacterial infection effectively causing pneumonia; Lack of oxygen drawing ability!!

Thanks to SA Ambulance! !

The hospital had me in Emergency for a while though I was feeling more confident because I was under their annexe. I was soon up in Intensive care, Had a broncoscopy, revealing trouble, and so began my care in intensive care. It was inspirational; and I begin to cry knowing they saved my life.
The nurses from all over the world including one from Afghanistan whom then lived in Iran, and others, that my heart went out to. The two male nurses that cared for me the first of which gave me my blood thinner injection not in my stomach but in my right shoulder (Wayne) :) v/; and Albert.

Then into the High dependency ward, where I met all the wonderful nurses each 12 hours; including Alice; like out of Alice in wonderland; a wonderful person literally.

Then onto the ward S1; Just Thankyou The food was terrific. The oxygen gave ease. All was appropriately taken care of well, and professionally and humanely.

It seems to Me, The combination of the professionalism, and the down-to-earthedness of the Adelaide Western Suburbs heart, is well balanced, for proper, humane professional real treatment, care, and cure.

I seem to have busted my lung sacks at rear on my right side incredibly which is still sore and similarly to the front! ? ?

Today is day 13 since I realized I was in trouble.

I'm at home now. The beds are free or otherwize occupied at the hospital.

It's a bad year for air-born diseases in this constant cold of Adelaide this year. The weather iz gradually improving as we get closer to Spring; but coping in all conditions Keeping one's self well and doing all one can to help others is the way to be living. The more we care for others the better we are cared for; Try not to pity, and neglectingly abuse yourself. There are many ways to call for help. And many different intimate situations or conditions.

This I think is all from me. Do take care and live everyone. ?

Malcolm,_Armstrong_

What ever happened to you, never go to Queen Elizabeth Hospital EMERGENCY ROOM.

I was undergo sugery earlier in the same day and experienced excessive bleeding after went home. I rushed back to TQEH arriving at 20:45 with 5 other people in the waiting room on Thursday evening.

I was finally been admitted into the 'EMERGENCY ROOM' at 00:00. I noticed 2 people before me still in there UNTREATED. I decided to went to other Royal Adelaide Hospital's Emergency Room at 01:45 after noticing that none of us were even being attended by the mystrious "DOCTOR".

Please take the distance and go to Royal Adelaide Hospital instead of TQEH EMERGENCY ROOM. They are both public hospital but definately both of their Doctor and nurses quality are tremendously different.

Excellent staff, but failing infrastructure. No car park spaces in main lot, 20 minute bay or temporary area; after laps and waiting for a bay that then was poorly signed as COVID parking only, I parked next to cars aligned alongside other parks out of the way; I thought it was a logical, sensible idea. I went in and dropped my wife off for surgery to return 10 minutes later and find a ticket, $50. I don't think this is ok.
Here are some solutions:
> Put a CAR PARK FULL sign up instead of expecting people to enter a car park or pay for a ticket with no car parks.
> An attendant in the lot or better signage for the covid19 spaces.
> Fines given hourly based on car park rates, rather than a blanket approach.
> Reduce your services allocation or hire an engineer or communications consultant to configure site flow; your infrastructure has failed your input.

l recently had a CSF spinal tap in connection with the Memory Trials Research Centre. Kirsty the co-ordinator is very organised & her chirpy manner helped me to relax. I received Top Notch service in their centre with the CSF being done in the Pain Management unit. Dr Cherie Cross helped me to fully understand the process. Dr S.Ong did the CSF & much to my surprise it's was practically painless. He kept me fully informed throughout the procedure having excellent communication skills & an understanding low key attitude
The staff were all excellent. Linda is very patient focused & empathetic, Michelle is very aware of patient needs. If l need another CSF l know l will be returning here. Thanks to all concerned. The one thing that needs to be improved is the very boring, white bread, plain cheese sandwich you get fed afterwards. Please kitchen, some wholemeal bread, some meat, some tomato, it's a long time to wait for food & tasty food sure helps. I have had a dozen colonoscopies elsewhere & received far superior sandwiches.

Presented tonight with some concerning and unusual symptoms. I had done my research and finally decided to call the SA Health line. They said I should go to hospital in an ambulance, so I did. I was very open and honest about my circumstances. The nurses were wonderful, friendly and non-judgemental. The doctor was great, empathetic, friendly and took on board my own perceptions of what was happening when discussing with the senior clinician. I don t go to hospital unless absolutely necessary and I don t make that call on my own. Ambos were great. Thanks everyone.

I don't know why I didn't do this review year ago, when I was admitted!
I was brought in by ambulance as an emergency , having a heart attack . Not only were the paramedics exemplary and certainly saved my life ( I have commended them separately to the Ambulance service ) but from the moment I was received to the moment I left a few days later, treatment was fast, efficient , good humoured and all that one could wish - well maybe I could have done without one of the heart ward doctors saying "now this is going to hurt" and then going away for 15 minutes before she came back and did the thing , which did indeed hurt . Still, not much to complain about I guess . Down in the 'stent shop' where they first take you, I don't remember much , except that I actually felt safe, despite all the stuff going on, just like the tv!
Up in the ward, great nursing, and doctoring and explanations about damage to heart and drugs and all the sort of stuff you need to leave with .
And afterwards , the Cardiac Rehab programme, absolutely free and very, very good , great gym, lectures and follow up.

I was recently bought into the Emergency Department by ambulance with a sudden cardiac arrhythmia. I could not have asked for a mkr6e friendly, competent, caring and supportive group of Doctors and Nurses. After attempts to regain control using medications and other non invasive manoeuvres I was moved to the resus room for cardioversion. All very dignified and calm.. when I woke my heart was beating normally. Such a scary time which was eased considerably by the care and compassion shown by everyone involved... including the reception and triage staff. A heartfelt thank you to all for their care. I trusted you with my life and you didnt disappoint.

To the nay sayers.. you dont appreciate what you have until it is no longer there. We are so lucky to have this hospital servicing the Western Suburbs.

I have been to this emergency dept a few times. I have been going thru a trauma induced psychosis. I was talking away to myself. The two males nurses along with the patient in the next cubicle ganged up on me and started abusing me. The male nurse said he didn't care coz he had a house full of guns. They moved me to the other end of the ward. The lovely mental health nurses stuck up for me and told the staff I'm not insane. Unfortunately when they left the doctors and the nurses started abusing me. This is the butcher's hospital stay away. There is no duty of care. There's no help in Adelaide for poor people.

To only have the option to go public for an aborti...

To only have the option to go public for an abortion as privately noone does them. Then to be already distraught and anxious about your situation and to be put in a room with all men older ppl and children, people that stink like cigarettes and are quite obviously nothing to do with your situation, it is not the nurturing caring experience that I remember from 10 years ago at the pregnancy centre.
It has been extremely confronting and emotional
If they provided a separate area for women going through abortions I think would be way more nurturing and considerate way to go.
