Superb! Most Massachusetts folk are steered to the likes of La Salette Shrine or Edaville Railroad for their Christmas light viewing. But I must say, Tower Hill Botanical Garden has leapfrogged the genre with a very artistically inspired display - and a copious one at that. Everywhere you go within the gardens, you are bathed in colorful light, cleverly arranged in line, direction and hue. It really does put the typical expression of light strings draped carelessly over random trees to shame.
As you explore the garden paths and light displays, you will encounter a couple of large metal cauldrons. These that have been turned into fire pits, a great and welcome chance to warm your hands as you explore outdoors in the night. Each is tended to by a staff member, there to answer questions and give directions.
Inside, the main building is abuzz with people visiting the gift shop, grabbing a snack at the farm-to-table eatery, imbibing at one of the beverage stands, or just enjoying the temperate flora displays.
On the negative side, while the food on offer from the farm-to-table is healthy and fresh, it is not for those on a budget. Two muffins and two hot chocolates (one with schnapps) topped the $25 mark; we opted to keep it to just a snack. Not worth docking a star for, as the cost is rather subjective. All in all, however, an excellent experience.
