The physician I saw was Dr HackIey. My appointment was for 2:00 I arrived at 1:50. I was taken back at 2:15 and saw the doctor at 3:25. I received a cortisone shot which went well but he never acknowledged my wait though his medical assistant did. She also acknowledged that this was not unusual To see the doctor a hour and 25 minutes after your scheduled time is really disrespectful to a patient. He was then very flippant about what my big exercise plans might be after getting my injection. This was the second time I had seen him and i did not have to wait this length on my first visit. I believe him to be competent but, arrogant.

I am very impressed with the outpatient care from Dr. Dahlstrom and his office. He was on time or early for all my appointments. The only Orthopedic Surgeon to meet this standard in 60 years of seeing Orthopedic Surgeons. Clinically, his care was outstanding.

My overall feel for this office after several visits to a few specialists because of various issues, is that they don't listen to their patients, and they're not thorough. I had a tear in both my wrist and ankle, and neither doctor recommended a treatment program or sent me to PT at first which lead to various other problems down the line. I actually had to ask for PT for my ankle. I had one of my surgeries here, and same story after the surgery. The doctor didn't even leave feedback for me to tell me how the surgery when I was in Post-Op, no follow up call, and then I came to find out that there was a PA there who helped with the procedure which I was never made aware of prior.

Dr. Brown was fantastic from the first visit, and through surgery and follow-up. Very meticulous on the surgical repair of my broken hand, which is now functioning great! He was very concerned about my hand getting hit with luggage during a trip while in recovery, so had me in and got a quick x-ray to show that all was well. Highly recommend him if you need hand surgery.

I saw Dr. Hackley for the 1st time for chronic knee issues in 2014. The day before my appointment, I unfortunately was in a bad horse accident and I showed up at the appt in rough shape - split chin, knocked in teeth, and my dead-looking arm in a sling. Despite being there for the knee, he evaluated my jaw for possible fractures, referred me to an oral surgeon, and also called in the hand/wrist/arm surgeon (who found fractures that the emergency room missed). After that, Dr Hackley evaluated my knee. A few weeks later he performed an arthroscopic clean up of my knee and it's been great since. Note that this was the 3rd surgery in 10 years... this was the only one that fixed the pain. I deal with a 1.5 hour drive and crappy parking to see Hackley because he's great at what he does, and I trust that my treatment will be appropriate and successful. I also like his no-BS way of talking! I'm headed back to deal with my other aching knee soon.

WOW! In the world that is todays health care gauntlet, this is a welcome oasis. Dr Hackley and Shoemaker are excellent. The support staff, Shara in particular, work wonders to make the pain of paperwork and insurance coverage minimal. They are that good!!!

Dr Thunder was incredibly attentive, caring and spoke with me as opposed to over me as some providers do. He was always available for questions and seemed very caring. Not only was Dr. Thunder the type of physician I hold in such high regard but the entire staff (Cedrina!) were all very helpful and warm. Thank you.

After spending hours at UCSD for a friend who needed an MRI on spine, I am beyond grateful for this group of doctors , their staff , their machines in house and the PT group in Del Mar and Scripps over all.

You can t beat the way the office is set up to run smoothly.
So there are a few personality defects and not all take Medicare.
I have seen just about all of them for stenosis, cysts and partial broken hip on a Sunday morning.
I would not trade them for another group and I miss Dr Tom Laughlin, a family friend who passed in his plane accident flying to operate on a skier in Colorado .
He helped found the group and he would be proud to see how it s grown.

Dr. Urband is so OFF THE HOOK AWESOME. Prior to becoming a surgeon he was an engineer, so we hit it off very, very well. He managed my expectations about pain, recovery times, and the entire process, in addition to hauling out this 3D model of my shoulder and taking the extra time to explain the nature of my complicated bone break. We decided to avoid surgery and we really, really hit it off well. The entire experience was great and the paperwork was seamless, which had not been my experience with other organizations. NO DOUBT this is the place to go, and his associates are also well respected. His staff is very professional and easy to deal with- look no further.

Office visit was fine, nothing negative to say, but this review is for their billing department. I was seen in March, now it is September, I received a call from someone (I believe his name was Juan), and cannot believe how rude he was. I had a copay for my insurance (A COPAY), not any large amount, and he acted like I was running out on a bill. Evidently they were sending invoices to my physical address which is not a mailing address. I live in Rancho Santa Fe, and anyone from the area knows you cannot mail things to addresses there. The invoices were returned to them, so they knew I was not getting them. He even said, I know you can't get mail there. SO he knew! He finally called me, which he could have done months earlier, I answered on the first ring, and seeing that it had been 6 months since I had been in, was confused on what this was about. I asked questions and the way he spoke to me was unacceptable. If the office reads this, he needs some seriously customer service training. If I had more time, I would have done something about this. To have someone speak to a patient and insult them the way he did is unacceptable. I told him to send me an invoice (to the correct mailing address) and I called back once I got it and luckily got a female who was very nice. She answered my questions and I paid the bill. Then today I got a letter from Juan that was also unbelievable, stating he was sending me to collections, taking me to small claims court, reporting me, and discharging me from the practice. Quite a lot of paperwork over a COPAY, that he knows I did not receive an invoice for. And which has been paid the second I got it and was able to speak to someone reasonable. I hope the person I spoke with gets the training they need so that no one else has to experience this.

Wow! I wasn't going to post anything BUT after reading the posts I think I must also add that Dr. Thunder is probably excellent at what he does as a surgeon but he has little or no people skills. I felt like I was bothering him when he examined me.

This place is TERRIBLE, go any where else but here! They take advantage of there patients and don't respect anything they say! Never see DR. Thunder. He does absolutly nothing to help. They do not tell you about all there hidden fees and they dont take the time to learn whats wrong with you before putting you in to the XRAY machine. Honestly the front desk was nice. But thats not why I am going to the DR. Im going to get help with a problem and help is nothing I got. They showed me they really dont care about people and there injurys.

My family has been patients for over 10 years. We are active and have seen Dr. Brown for my broken wrist, my son for his broken arm skateboarding, he was caring and excellent with the surgery. Dr. Shoemaker performed surgery on my other son's knee for an ACL and Meniscus repair. He is detailed oriented, great sense of humor, and spends a lot of time with the patients. I would never consider seeing and other Orthopedic office for our care. We live in Carlsbad and have closer orthopedist that we have seen in the past, but they do not compare to this group.

Wow after seeing some negative reviews I had to write this. My daughter is a professional athlete and broke her fibula. Dr. Hackley took care of it and she had a perfect healing process. She is surfing in the woman's long board world championships next week in Tiwan. When I had my own knee problems Dr. Swenson performed a partial knee replacement that also went perfectly. Later because of the great service we received I saw Dr. Thunder for back problems that I thought I had from two previous back surgeries. Dr. Thunder rather than chop me up again diagnosed my problem as a blood flow issue and referred me out to a vascular surgeon who performed a procedure to take care of poor blood flow and again I had a perfect result. I am now seeing Dr. Brown for a carpel tunnel issue and have all the confidence in the world in this group of Doctor's. If your parts are wearing out like mine are you would be fortunate to have any of these guys take care of you.
