I have been to Torey's on a few different occasions at their old location, and now 3 times at their new location. I was hoping that with a change of location maybe their selection and quality of food, along with their service would improve. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Their new location is very open, allowing noise to travel significantly. Tables are in close quarters, and has a bar like atmosphere. The first time I went to their downtown location was on a Tues evening, I was told 45 mins for a wait; then after 50 mins I approached the hostess, and she said another 45 minutes. This was also the same night one waitress was baby-wearing while serving, 2 plates of food were dropped, and they ran out of Pinot Noir (the wine my wife was drinking). It is unfortunate that this is the only "upscale" restaurant in town, and really the only "date night" or "special occasion" place to frequent without a drive.

Torey's is lovely! It has a great atmosphere, great food, and very kind staff! I love the Salmon and the Chocolate Cake! The food is a little more spendy than other restaurants in the area, however it is a whole lot nicer than any of the others! I definitely recommend!

Food is not good. The appetizer Deck Wings are just regular dry small wings in a spicy sauce. Very similar to Buffalo Wild Wings, but with less sauce selection. At the time of this review, they don't know how to cook steak properly. New York strip was very chewy (medium rare) and fillet mignon was burned on the grill. Waitress brought a replacement and it was raw (all red inside). Eventually I gave up on the steak. Mashed potatoes do not come with any type of gravy. The staff and atmosphere are very welcoming and friendly.

Have been here twice for lunch now. Both times I have waited and waited to be greeted/seated as there has never been anyone at the hostess station. I can see employees at the end of the bar or walking around but it doesn't seem to be a priority to get to the front. Service is on the slow side as well. Food was ok but nothing to write home about.

Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was great! Very nice staff also. Will definitely go back. They have a huge selection on their menu to choose from so it will be fun to try something different next time.

Owatonna has always had a special place in my heart. I grew up there and go back every chance I get. Today, I was on a bike trip with 3 friends and our stop over is Owatonna. At Dinner time I suggested Torey's and they did not disappoint. I had the 16 oz ribeye along with one of my friends. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. My friend raved about the stout beer he was enjoying saying quite possibly the best he's ever had (Castle Danger from Duluth). Another friend had the chicken salad and the last had the steak Oscar. We all said it was the best meal out that we have had in a long time. Our server was Bobby and he took care of us very well. Can't say enough good things. I will be making it a must stop every time I come back!

Never disappointed ... Lots of locals so you know it is good. But out of towners will enjoy. Friendly atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Great food.

The owner is visible, checking how things are going. I appreciate that.

We were there yesterday and have been there before. Great food and service. Only problem was. Left a 7.00 cash tip on a 42.00 purchase and noticed this morning that the waitress added another 20% on our bank card. WTH!

They had a sweet potato andouille sausage soup that was very good. Perfect mix of spice for a sweet potato soup. Highly recommend as a starter. I usually hesitate on Italian food Minnesota, but the tortellini with meatballs was perfect! Service was great! One of the best restaurants in Southern MN!

Heard some pretty good things about Torey's but never got the chance to go. Finally did when my family took me out for my birthday. Wow, everything was just great. Food was excellent, top notch staff, and I wondered why I had stayed away so long! Will definitely stop by more often, now! Thank you.

Lamb chops were absolutely perfect , and so were the tenderloin medallions. Quality was top notch, and service was out of this world fast. Appetizer, salads/soups, and meal served within 30 mins! If you are looking for top notch quality, this is the place folks! We will be back for sure! Wish I would have gotten our waitresses name. She was very friendly as well!

Leah is a great staff person. Very challenging these days to keep customers safe and happy. Leah was phenomenal, watching over Toni, Jean and Karen as we saw one another in person for the first time in many months.
Thank you, leah!

This review is for the new Torey's in downtown. My mom and I went at 6:30 pm on a Friday night. We had reservations. My mom has a knee issue so she asked for a booth, which was accommodated even though they had to clean off the table, so that was good. The decor was not very appealing. It's more upscale then most of what you're going to find in Owatonna, but there is nothing really alluring about the space. The tables, chairs and booths are clearly on the cheap side. I saw some pictures of the other location and that looked better. It just has that new, trying to be trendy, but ultimately cheap feel to it.

The first thing we noticed was that it was extremely noisy. We were seated next to the window in an alcove facing the street. This might have made an echo chamber effect. The place was packed, and the people near us were pretty loud. As the evening wore on and people left, it got better, but understand, this place has a huge bar as it's centerpiece and the space itself it pretty small. If you're looking for quiet, make sure you make that very clear and choose your seat wisely. Else, Perkins might be your speed.

I was surprised that the prices seemed reasonable. Pretty much in line with an Applebys in town. Apps for 9-13. Several entres under 20 on the dinner specials. I tried to figure out what makes this place different from Applebys. Probably the biggest thing is the drink selection, mainly the wine list. The menu seemed like pretty standard fare.

Our waitress was friendly, competent and professional. That was good. My mom wanted raspberry iced tea, which they didn't have, but she offered to put some flavoring in a regular iced tea. Fair enough.

We both started with French Onion soup. The soup was executed perfectly, both in terms of taste and presentation. So that started off very nice. The soup made me happy and forget about the noise for a bit.

I had the lamb chops. I was asked how I would like them cooked and I said however the cook thinks they should be done. They came out a little inconsistent. Some were on the verge of medium, some were closing in on rare. But I didn't ask for something specific, so I didn't worry too much about it. They were very good and I enjoyed them. The rice pilaf was good, and there was a bed of greens that was OK. My mom had the jumbo shrimp, battered. They were huge. Her baked potato was lovely. She liked the shrimp a lot. We ended with a Italian lemon cake thing. It was a bit plain, but the whipped cream and drizzle made it pretty enjoyable.

So in short. The decor is so-so, the noise was incredible and the food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The downtown location is a great asset, but it's disappointing that they didn't select a decor that more accentuates the history and feel of the vibe there. It might very well be the best option in Owatonna for a finer dining experience, but it doesn't quite set itself far enough away from an Appleby's experience as it could have, and that is a bit disappointing.

They have really good food here, a selection on the menu for many different tastes. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Semi-cozy with nice booths or tables. It can be noisy when it is busy, but you should go check them out if you have never been there before!

The "add-on upgrade $1.50" house salad was wilted, mushy and not worth the plate it sat on. At this type of restaurant anyone would expect much more quality. Then, the chicken...with the "seafood" cake. We should have gone to Burger King and ordered the chicken sandwich without a bun because it would have been WAY more flavorful than this! Unbelievable for this place! My husband ordered the "featured" bacon wrapped scallops" and received the bacon wrapped shrimp:/. So they comped him the difference in price...but he really wanted the scallops but didn't want to take the TIME to return the meal and wait for a replacement. The bacon around the shrimp...disgusting...not even bacon but a line of FAT. On top of all of this the wall in our booth was spotted with splattered milk or some other white substance and the booth seat was ripped...cheap dineresque...bummer experience.

I just ate at Torey s because it was close to my hotel. I m so glad I did! The staff is super friendly, the selection of beer and wine is outstanding, and the food offerings are quite varied and sophisticated. But most importantly, the meals we had were all very tasty! The Cajun chicken, the petite sirloin, and the house burger were all memorably good, and the overall quality was remarkable considering the extremely reasonable prices! If you re in the area, eat here. You won t be disappointed.

We thought from the reviews that this would be a nice place with good food. It's a very casual atmosphere, kind of like a nice pizza place. To start, the salad was just average. The bread was cool and the butter ice cold. My husband ordered a filet mingon medium well. I ordered the lamb chops less than medium, between medium rare and medium. She said that the cook was "really good with temperature". His steak was medium, very pink in the middle and my lamb chops were totally well done, completely brown all the way through. Since the waitress didn't come back for a very long time, I reluctantly ate my well done lamb, not all of it. She finally came back and I tried to show her but she didn't really care. Also, both entrees were served on a bed of fried onions that tasted old, dry and cold like they came out of a box. I ordered a glass of the suggested wine to be served with my dinner. She completely forgot about it. It's just as well because the lamb chops were not worthy of a glass of wine. We won't be back.

My girlfriend and I went to try something new, neither of us had been to torey's and were rather excited to try it as we had heard they had good food. Unfortunately both of us were very disappointed in the food. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer.... very soggy and no flavor, like it came from the microwave. She ordered a burger and I got pasta. Her burger was not cooked to order and my chicken was very burnt on my pasta. We've always looked forward to going there but with food that doesnt match the prices...sad to say we'll probably never go back

Today was our wedding anniversary. My wife and I went to Torey's Restaurant for dinner. Food was out this world. We were both satisfied and happy. Waitress was AWESOME. Stuffed Salmond was soooooo delicious. My wife loved her petite sirloin. Thank you. I would highly recommend this place to anybody.

Had a group of 35 in for dinner. 13 of which were 11 and 12 year old kids. Torey and his staff did a fabulous job serving us. The food was great and the prices were more than fair. Love the atmosphere of the place and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks to Torey and his staff for a job well done.

$75 for a overcooked sirloin strip and a Halibut dinner. No salad, no drinks, In the bar area. Waaay overpriced and poor service too boot. FYI.... $.50 extra for sour cream on the baked potato.

It doesn't get much better. From their excellent selection of craft beer to their awesome menu. If you like Applebee's but wish they would step up their game, go to torey's. Their prices knock Applebee's out of the park too. I can't complain about a thing.
