Tommy Garner AC&Heating is, by far, the absolute best company to take care of ANY HVAC needs! Whether installing brand new units, or servicing and repairing existing systems- their services will not disappoint.
Their technicians are very knowledgeable and professional, and take special care to ensure customer satisfaction. Their attention to detail is unmatched in the HVAC field.
When my heat wouldn t come on on a very cold morning, the technician responded immediately, arrived quickly, and had the issue diagnosed and repaired in a very short amount of time.
On another occasion, when hearing my elderly, asthmatic mother was having a problem with her AC, a technician was dispatched right away to her home and had cool air flowing within the hour!
Tommy Garner AC&Heating technicians and staff are not only the most knowledgeable and efficient in the industry, they are also compassionate and caring about their customers.

These people are a joke. Installed a carrier infinity ac unit and didn t know you needed a matching furnace?? Sent people out about 5 different times and everyone was clueless! Ended up coming out of our own pocket to figure out the issue!

We've had them service the HVAC for many years now.

I've talked with several of the service technicians. They all like the way he treats them. Good employer. Therefore they treat the customers well.

Recently had to replace the system due to the furnace wearing out. The installers did a great job, removed the old system and installed the new one. No muss, no fuss.

Love the new thermostat. WiFi enabled. Change settings, program from anywhere. It's aware of outside temp and humidity, do it can run the multi-stage A/C longer to reduce moisture in the Spring.

Our AC unit died after hours on the hottest day of the year so far (go figure...) and our house was rapidly heating up. I have a home warranty but I needed a response NOW, not within 24 hours when the heat index is pushing 110. I spoke to Tommy Garner's answering service and within 10 minutes, got a call back from someone. Within another 10 minutes, Colton was ringing my doorbell. As soon as he took off the back panel of our outside unit, he already had it diagnosed and was removing the faulty part. He had our AC running within 20 minutes of his arrival. He was really knowledgable, chatted with us the whole time, and even kept his distance due to COVID. I paid less for this after-hours emergency service than I would have if I had called my warranty company. I went to bed hot but woke up cold! Thank y'all so much for your prompt, professional service.

My 24 year old HVAC failed late on a Friday afternoon during a very cold week in February. Being a senior citizen with health issues, a warm home is an urgent necessity. Fortunately, my young neighbor, Colton, has worked for Tommy Garner Air Conditioning & Heating for several years so I called and he immediately came to my home and diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger which meant carbon monoxide was a concern. He shut the system down completely and contacted Zack Garner who provided a price quote and a new HVAC system was ordered all on a late freezing Friday evening including the offer of Garner s providing space heaters for my comfort. The installers, Austin and Nolan, were professionals who wore masks and shoe coverings .They worked diligently for seven hours to provide me with a warm home again. I am most thankful for the excellent services provided and quick turnaround of this process. This is the third HVAC system for my 50+ year old home and after several weeks of operating, I know it is the best and most efficient. Previous HVAC companies have had to make return trips due to neglected details. Garner s crew attended to every detail! My sincere appreciation and gratitude to the conscientious crew who worked diligently to restore comfort in these difficult pandemic times.

In times when service or repairs were necessary, they have always been prompt, reliable, and honest. I rarely like to recommend businesses to friends because often times your mileage may vary. I called Tommy Garner on Monday due to my AC no longer cooling. I knew that it needed a recharge and scheduled a time for that following Wednesday. Their tech showed up within their stated window, asked me a couple of question to verify what I'd stated and got to work. He found a leak on a connection that he explained to me and quickly fixed. Overall, pretty good experience.

To be honest, when Tommy Garner was first assigned to us, we were over the moon happy! Usually they sent out the cheapest company they can find. However, last year around this time, they came out and diagnosed our ac and found that it needed to be replaced. The warranty company authorizes it after a few weeks of back and fourth, and It was decided that a Carrier Infinity unit (complex but good unit) was to be placed in the house. Great!! After it s installed, it continues to be 77-79 degrees upstairs with the unit running constantly all day. I keep calling and calling, and they do send people out, but everyone is confused and cannot find anything wrong, but they do see that the new unit it running and at the time 79 degrees. We decided that we needed someone else to come out...another company comes out and determines that they put a smart communicating system in that attach to a communicating furnace (you must have both to work). So it s basically just running at a low sped now and unable to cool the house. We contact the warranty company again, and say that is the case, but don t want to use Tommy Garner again since they didn t realize this the whole time after sending multiple people out. The furnace was now replaced by another company to match and it works better. Now, a year later it is still not working up to par, and they didn t install AC correct, so we are having to come out of pocket again 3,000$ for a re-install when they should be coming back out. All of the times they had to come out, I never heard from anyone other than the front desk peoson who handles the warranty jobs. When I call the warranty company again, I find out they are no longer associated with American home shield.

HORRIBLE COMPANY! They replaced a Carrier Infinity Unit and dented a bunch of the fins and the outside casing. They said we are "Out of Zone" now and won't service the unit that they installed in Jan 2018. It hasn't worked in a MONTH. The office staff said they would continue to service our A/C and now they say they won't come out here. It didn't work right when they installed it and they said it was just the different model, but I have a feeling they didn't know what they were doing because we ZERO A/C and our heat didn't work right in the winter either.

There are not enough words to describe how ecstatic I am with the service provided from TG & his team, and 5 stars is not enough! Long story short, I am a first time home buyer and was convinced to take a home warranty in exchange of replacing my HVAC which was from 1990. In January I began the process of trying to have the unit replaced before my warranty expired in May and the hot summer days returned. I battled with the contracting company for 5 months and they dropped the contract 4 days before my warranty expired. After all the stress and anxiety I decided to let the warranty expire and reached out the Garner's. Dave was at my place almost immediately, they were able to find a "unicorn unit" to fit my special situation, and had everything done in less than 2 weeks at an extremely competitive price. I grew up with the Garner's so I already felt at ease having their company take over, but I did not expect them to exceed expectations to that extent. Brandon, Zach and Nolan came to my house to do the change out. They were polite, clean, respectful and all around amazing. They even mopped up my hallway floors when they were done! I will never waste my time working with another HVAC company & will recommend these guys to anyone 100 times over.

Our a/c went out on a Friday of all days. Everyone was super nice and helpful from the beginning. The after-hours technician was very patient and knowledgeable and everyone communicated throughout the entire process. Even though I called last minute, the technician came out pretty quickly and was very honest and up front about repairs vs purchasing a new unit. We never felt pressured and were given all the info we needed to make a decision. We were really nervous about buying a new unit because you hear of so many companies trying to scam people, but we were given fair quotes and given time to do our own research and compare prices. Would definitely recommend Tommy Garner and his team to anyone.

Jamie and another gentleman arrived on time and ready to solve the problem. Our AC was not achieving the temperature that we set it at. Tommy Garner was referred to us by our home warranty company (American Home Shield) and they usually refer a different company and we have had this AC issue with them for the past 5 years so I was glad to have a different company come out. We have had to recharge our AC every summer for the past 5 years with the other company and we kept telling them that there has to be a leak somewhere because our line from the unit freezes over and we have to shut the unit down until it defrosts. We explained this to Jamie and he asked if the unit we have in the attic also is freezing over. My husband had just been up there the day before and did notice that it had indeed frozen over. He said that once the line outside is frozen then the one in the house would be too because the leak comes from inside first. He said that the unit would need to be recharged and that he would also add a sealant to the system that should take care of the leak if it's a small one. I was so glad to hear something other than "your unit needs to be recharged". Now hopefully the sealant took care of the issue and we won't have to "recharge" every summer. Jamie was knowledgeable and explained everything. Hopefully if we have additional AC issues/concerns they will send Tommy Garner back out and hopefully we will get Jamie again.

I was moved to write a review and I NEVER write reviews on any site but the customer service, the quality of service the level of professionalism that I received from this company was just OUTSTANDING This was my first time using them and I didn't know what to expect.and They were on time, they adhered to social distancing and kept a mask on the entire time. I had a man named Colton and his level of Competency and professionalism was excellent. From the office staff to the air conditioner tech they all get 5 stars in my book. It's rare to see this high level of customer service, professionalism and genuine kindness from a company like I experienced today. I would use them again and feel confident about referring them to anyone needing air conditioning and heating service. Honestly, if you really are looking for a good company this really is the company to use.

I would like to give the highest praise to Tommy Garner Air Conditioning and Heating and especially to technician Jamie!!!! I came home last night to a freezing cold house and a "dead" digital thermostat. I called, received the after hours answering service and was told I would receive a call back shortly. I then received a callback almost immediately from Jamie who said he would be right out. He asked me to check a couple of things first so he know what he would need to do upon arrival. Sure enough, he was able to diagnose the situation with me over the phone, the issue of a lose wire was resolved and the furnace was back up and running. I could not be more happy with Jamie's level of professionalism, knowledge, and patience as I followed his instructions. David was our technician this evening. He was on time and professional throughout the visit. I have had 4 other contractors come in to try to find out why the system wasn t blowing the air like it should. All 4 did the same: just take the cover off the furnace, look around, and tell me they couldn t find a problem. Now David went above and beyond and finally found the issue. We even chopped it up about life in general while he worked. No pun intended: David was cool as a fan. My family is appreciative of Tommy Garner for their swift and precise handling of our issue. We look forward to strictly using them in the future!

Would never use them again! Cherry gentleman came out and charged 95.00 for estimate. Said it would be 1 hour of work.. Did not show up to do the work for over a month after several phone calls. Came unprepared, had to go to Lowe's to get more fittings and billed me for three hours two men.

They came out gave me a free estimate. No pressure to buy anything. After about 3 weeks I decided to have them replace my system. I had a heat pump and went with a gas furnace. The 2 guys that came out were nice did a very nice job. Me and my wife are very happy with the service we got.

Since then, when I needed work on my HVAC system, he has responded very quickly with consistently excellent work and reasonable prices. So when the time came to replace the whole system, I received a very competitive quote from David Lemis for the job, and Tommy's team did an outstanding installation, checkout, and startup, all in the same day. I have used Tommy Garner for years for all my HVAC / Boiler needs. The technicians arrive clean, respectful and conduct themselves in a completely professional manner. They are knowledgeable in all aspects od HVAC and Heating. I have never had a technician have to come to my house the second time. It is always done right the first time. In many cases the technicians turn their work in teaching moments explaining what was the problem, why it was a problem and what was done to correct the problem. Nuff said!

For the second time in less than a year, Tommy Garner was out to diagnose, resolve, and fix our issues within eight hours of our call. The first was replacing a hot water heater and the second was diagnosing a frozen unit. The Technicians are professional, offer basic maintenance suggestions, and are fully masked without asking. Highly recommended for both Service and emergency situations. Only complaint is the first tech asked me how I listen to jazz music while I worked and didn t fall asleep. He needs better taste in music.

They cleaned me unit which was very dirty. and they added R22, my total bill was 199.00 which I was very impressed with. Excellent service and technical repair! Mr. Chris Verastek is a superb HVAC field engineer. He was able to repair several issues with the HVAC system to include improvising a repair on insulation blocking the evaporator coil. He explained everything he was doing as he went and provided me with cost-effective options. This is a very good company!

This company charges for the technician's start time based on where he/she begins the drive towards your location. If the tech starts in Virginia Beach, either because he/she is there on another call or getting parts, once they begin the drive to you, the clock is ticking and the customer pays for this cost at over $90.00/hour. Per the office staff, if the technician is stuck in traffic on the way and there is an accident, the customer pays for this time as well. It is NOT absorbed by Tommy Garner, but by the customer at over $90.00/hour. My technician arrived 45 minutes after the start of the 8:00am appointment and after 20 minutes of diagnosing my problem, he told me I was into my second hour. He explained that it took him 45 minutes to get to my house (I was the first call of the day and I live in Newport News, where their shop is located!)

The technician was amazing at his job, I have absolutely no complaints about his work and if the time practice was different, I would love to use him again.

I just don't think it is fair to put the burden on the customer that the technician is stuck in traffic or any other situation beyond the customer's control. The office staff told me it wasn't fair to the technician that they have to cover the cost of travel, I told her it wasn't fair to the customer. I feel Tommy Garner should absorb this cost as a cost of doing business.

I called TommyGarner based on the recommendation of many friends that have used them or know them. I called on Wednesday and two technicians showed up right on time on Friday. I explained I had metal duct work and Insulation was falling off. I wanted the whole thing checked out. The lead technician, Dustin Jastrebsky, and his co-worker came out and explained everything they found. I will note the results were not good! System was separating, filthy, and much insulation was missing. He asked to look at the return and mechanically it was fine, but Dustin recommended replacing it if we were doing the rest. He talked to the office and came back with what I found to be a fair price, though much more than a couple duct trunks I wanted reinsulated :). The three techs started Monday morning with rip out. They got pulled that afternoon and were right back on it Tuesday morning. Job was completely finished by the end of the workday Wednesday. The work quality was excellent ! They guys were steady at it the whole time and very professional. Dustin kept me with everything relating to the job. These guys are Great and I would and have recommend the to anyone.
