My roommate loves sushi so she loves it. They dont have many other options of food that are dairy free and you hate sushi

Pretty average food, service was horrible on this day. Almost two hours for lunch.

My wife and I Love this place! Nothing overly fancy, and that is just fine for us! Food is always great and hav never had bad service. Will keep going back to our favorite place!

Hardly put together food, cold, and honestly gross.

I had the volcano roll and crab rangoon roll. Both were fantastic and the serving size was very fair for the price. The server was attentive and polite. I recommend instead of responding with "no problem" when someone says thank you. Respond with "my pleasure" it's much more professional. Overall the service and food was exceptional and I highly recommend this place.

The warm sake was fantastic as well!

Nice window views. Fast service, although not the best. Good food. I thought the portions were small, but with the miso soup, it was enough. There was no music playing, so it was hard to tune out loud people talking on their phones.

Experience was less than expected. We arrived at 7:10 for a 7:30 pm reservation. We sat at the bar with our two boys and enjoyed ourselves. At 7:30 we are shown to our table, 15 minutes later our drink order was taken, 15 minutes after that we ordered our entree and sushi. Our cook arrived at our cook table, cooked our food, made off the cuff comments about our children being privileged. Our waitress only offered me a drink after ordering and never returned to take my wife s or children s. We were served our cooktop meal and once finished our sushi showed up. For a family meal entertainment experience, it was miserable and less than entertaining for a $100.00 dollar experience.

I make it my business to try something new when Ever I visit and can say without a doubt how good this place is. Love the food & service is good also.

Went in Three Samurai Japanese Restauran for a my father's birthday party and We were so glad I came. My dad and cousin loved Jalapeno Shrimp and Shrimp Fried Rice. I don't typically have that type of vibe but Three Samurai really ups the standard for gastronomically fine cuisine. The chef personally came out and wished my father a great father's day. Great people! Don't hesitate, visit and be wondered.

Best sushi I've ever had! They may appear pricey, but they are almost always having deals or specials. I've taken almost every friend I know here and they all have had only good things to say!! That being said, you will have to be patient because sushi rolling takes a long time-especially when it's busy. But in the end, the food is well worth the wait.

We tried going here for dinner on a Wednesday night at 7:30pm and were promptly sat. After sitting, we watched three servers walk past our table without even being acknowledged or asked for any orders. After 15 minutes without being greeted, we decided to go down the road to get sushi somewhere that would actually greet us. Very frustrating lack of service!

We are from Davenport, Iowa so the trip was about 45 minutes to get here but let me tell ya... Well worth the trip! Great atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff. They were able to guide me through the sushi list to two rolls that we're an amazing match for me. Very tasty! I ordered a steak for the main course and the trend continued with greatness. Perfect cook, and well seasoned. The only negative that prevented me from giving a full 5 stars is the men's restroom. It was rather unclean and very smelly. Good experience overall!

Some of the best sushi in Iowa City, very friendly atmosphere! Moi has a knack with the sushi! I recomend the crab Rangoon roll! A big plus Mondays & Wednesday all rolls 1/2 price !

Haven't been there for awhile but they are my top pick for Japanese cuisine. Not like the rest. Food seemed freshly made.

My favorite sushi spot in Iowa. I've been to places on the west coast that were half as good and twice as expensive. I recommend the tempura salmon roll. Good service and layout too.

Food is good, Treatment of Customers is Horrible. We have eaten here several times, twice in a larger group when a teppanyaki chef cooked for us. The food has always been acceptable but the waits can be excessive, the door host and sometimes the wait staff can be dismissive, and on one occasion I asked for them to prepare a meal to go for a person who was at home recovering from cancer treatment and they refused. I won't ever eat here again.

Food was good, but not exceptional. Not traditional Japanese, or at least we didn't think so. More of a fusion place, sort of. Doubt we'll go back.

It was tasty, but lacked that special something. The menu is well rounded and I can get anything from sushi to delicious soups.

Food was just okay, not sure it was even worth the discounted prices. Appetizer for $3 was an egg roll...meh... I would have been happier paying $1. Iowa sushi is overpriced to begin with.

They offer take out, but only when they want to. Called for a to go order, but was told they didn't want to do it.

Went on a Sunday, not busy at all and we waited over an hour for our food. If you plan on waiting a long time for your food this is the place to go

Was a delicious meal!! Cheif was professional yet great fun. One of the best meals I have had!

I would say that this was the worst place I have been in along time. The sushi took 35 minutes to get. Fine ill deal with it and move on maybe the service and food will make up for it. Well this was far from what happend. Are water was filled once ever 45 minutes. The waitress didn't talk to us at all anytime we asked for anything it was like a drive threw drop it off and leave. Fine maybe she wasn't having a great day I understand more then you guys know. Next a hour and a half later our food finally comes ...... Cold. Well we sit there waiting for the waitress to come again 10 minutes later nothing. So I get up grab another waitress to tell her. She grabs our waitress she says she will make us some new food that's hot. Fine will get fresh warm food. 10 minutes later we get are food back right the same plates heated up in a microwave she drops it off then disappears, doesn't ask if we need anything just leaves. By this time I couldn't take it anymore my girlfriend and her family needed some. More sauce asked 2 times waited 10 mintues. I got up asked to talk to a manager. The waitress came back asked what I needed with an attitude. I said obviously your manager. He came out spoke to Him asked what was wrong explained to him the situation. He asked what he could do looked very nervous and couldn't speak clearly. I said I've had the worst time time ever my family came for good food and service. We didn't get ether of them, he said he would take care of it. Came back with my bill minus 2 entrees. Great you have horrible service cold food and wasted 2 hours of my life ill never return, also ill go out of my way to tell everyone and write reviews so maybe somebody else won't get horrible service.

if you like good food but have time to kill this is a good place. Three samurai is probably the better restaurant in coralville. First you order your appitizer and entree, then you wait. The food easily takes an hour. The service is terrible, they don't give a damn about you, just your tip. I usually order the pho (only place in town that serves it good) and a rainbow roll. The food is good for iowa. Thats why I give it a 3 star.

There was a bit of a wait, but the food was well worth it. The waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient.

Waited an hour and 15 minutes, waiter forgot to put in our order...waited another 10 minutes for sushi. Would not go here again, very dry slow service.

I have had sushi from all over the country and this is my favorite sushi place in the Iowa City area, it stands up to some of the best sushi I've had much closer to the coasts. There are other decent places but every time I come here the sushi is delicious. They also have some of the best entrees I've had at an Asian place in a while. The Matsuzaka entree is one of the best steaks in town and it's only $20. The only negative things I can say is the service is generally not good (waitstaff at least, I've always had good experiences sitting at the sushi bar) and they don't usually do takeout. Still, that's not enough to downgrade a star IMO.

Very disappointed. We got seated and neglected for 45 min. Staff and manager are disrespectful and rude. I was told we can just cancel your order will get my sushi elsewhere from now on

We called ahead on our way here to find out what the wait was and they told me there was a 30 minute wait and that they were getting blasted. So I asked if we could put our name in and arrive in 30 minutes and she told me there was no list started and no I couldn't put my name in and we would have to show up and wait. We arrived there 5 minutes later to no wait at all and they were not blasted as the person on the phone told me.
Very disappointing

Firstly. There is nothing that makes this place anything about samurai. The decor is very generic. The food is mediocre at best. Had the seafood ramen and for 15 bucks. I should have more items than what was in my to go contanier. And whatever kind of wierd cream beoth they are using just kills the simplicity of ramen.
3 stars for how polite our server was. Otherwise. Go somewhere that doesnt make a name after something badass. And then turn out to be sub par.

It's pretty good when you go for lunch, but I was less impressed with dinner. I had the sushi- it looked nice, but tasted like a step above gas station sushi. Also, the service is somewhat spotty, at times they were attentive but other times it took forever to get a drink refill.

The food was very fresh and delicious. They have a nice second story balcony to sit outside and enjoy a beverage on a nice evening.

The young man taking the phone order for me was polite and friendly and got our order correct.

Love you Three Samurai Japanese Restaurant. Prices are super fair and the whole of staff is VERY awesome! I tasted the Shrimps and Pork and Green milk Tea for a relaxing beverage. Both were delicious and fantastic! I will be back to try other things, sure!

The new three samurai is great, it is actually the old one just came back from a couple of bad years. The food quality is great as the old days prices are great tolaly worth every penny, the wait time to get your food much faster but still need some work. The specials are plenty and really great deals considering the quality and the great taste. Glad they came back. If you here in Iowa city or coralville iowa this one of two great sushi/Asian restaurants the other one is Formosa.

When I found out that the restaurant got rid of the hibachi grills, I was disappointed. However, my family still decided to go there on Christmas Eve as is our annual tradition. The food was fantastic! They have a large variety of sushi, along with a variety of other dishes. Every family member got something different; each was delicious. I have been there since and it was still wonderful. 10/10 would recommend.

While Three Samurai used to be a great restaurant, their service had declined in quality in the past year. Inattentive wait staff and long waits for food make this no longer my first choice for sushi.

Great seafood Ramen. Their sushi is ok... I stick with the other appetizers. Service can be slow - so allow for extra time especially during Sunday lunch specials.

Three Samurai has been a great place for years, I believe that It is now under new management and it has gotten even better. Every time my husband and I go in there something is new. The food is delicious. Couldn't ask for more. The best Sushi in Johnson County!

The $10 lunchtime Bento box has to be one of the best lunch deals in the area. Delicious and responsive service.

The cook refused to do any fire show or the food toss which is all we heard about before we went. He told us that the owner had told him that is wasn't allowed anymore. Then he gave the full show to the table behind us. I did tip because the waitress was good at her job, hopefully it went to her. My family and I won't be back.

We wedt in and no one greeted use we waited for 4 minutes and the workers said nothing and didn t serve us. So we just left. Screw thus place

This used to be our favorite until ownership changed. They took out the cooking tables, as well as either changed recipes on sauces etc., or got rid of popular dishes entirely. Why change a good thing?

Great quality fish, top notch rice, and fun chefs. Plus they have specials nights where many menu items are discounted!

They have some good vegetarian options, I wish they served brown rice.

Yesterday we went to dinner with my sisters.. and we ordered a cake for my sister birthday . My surprise was went we see the cake full of mold that was gross . I not going back ...........

I only put 3 stars because the service is great, the management is awesome - the food is excellent.... but I wanted people to check over this and note that the last time I was there (3/1), I walked out.

I was seated at the backbar which was no problem at all. I was alone and happy to do sit wherever. The bartender had a conversation with the friendly hostess at the bar within earshot about why I was seated there. (It was busy Tuesday night and there were a few people accumulating and waiting for tables). I think he was feeling overwhelmed. I work customer service and very much understand this. I offered to move back to the sushi bar if that would help allieviate things - and that was fine - but the gentleman at the bar just placated me - his eyes said "leave" but he kept saying "that's your decision"... rather than just saying something like "Hey, to better serve you, we would like to know if you'd be willing to be seated at the sushi bar?" etc.

I told him I will just go up to the sushi bar. I almost sat down at the sushi bar but decided that I didn't want to spend $25+ after that... so I spent my money elsewhere. I just looked down at my sushi sheet and set it at the desk and walked out. It's the first time I went there and felt like I was a nuisance for just being there. I will go back but I will not get seated at the bar and it's going to be a long time before I do. Sad, because their Matsuzaka Roll is FANTASTIC.

Took over 1.5 hours to get service even with a reservation.

12 dollars for a teryaki meal but most of it is rice and a small side of teryaki. It was take out so I am making it 3 stars but if the was dine in it would be two.

Amazing place cheap sake, great poke bowls and sushi as well next time I'm in town I'll be stopping by.

Good food, but the waits are outages. Server wasn't the best. I have been here at least 10 times. I feel like food is over priced and serviced needs to be be revamped. The sushi is the best in town though. The restaurant wasn't even packed last time we went, so confused by poor service.

This is a VERY SLOW restaurant.
Servers like to make you wait for at least 5 minutes to seat you. The beverages come pretty fast. Then they will make you wait for 10 minutes to take your order and tell you that your favorite dish on the menu is very unlikely available. In some rare cases that your order is available, it may take up to an hour to prepare it, in my case ox tail soup and sushi rolls.

So, please have two hours in your life ready to be wasted before you come here.

Epic. The sushi and sushmi is amazing. They also have a hibachi grill but you to reserve your spot. I wouldn't bring children here as it's tight in-between tables.

Thank you for being in the Iowa City Region. I Love Japanese Food, so I was looking forward to the experience of the night. I was not disappointed. The food was very well prepared and delicious. Also, our server Daphne was courteous and welcoming. I look forward to the next visit.

Please try Aged Tofu! It is served with fried tofu with soba sauce! So tasty and crispy!

Haven't been here since it changed hands and then wasn't as good. But they have gotten their groove back! Delicious!
