Fun place with lots to do. My grand children love to play there.
Fun place with lots to do. My grand children love to play there.
Great place! Earth Wind Inspire exhibit was awesome. It's a bit small but good for little kids.
My kids, 4yrs and 2yr twins, really enjoy the museum. We make use of our membership several times a month. Plus there are tons of other attractions near by: park, pond, Bribery Bakery, and Lick honest ice cream.
Nice children's museum. The kids (5 year old and 7 year old) enjoyed it. It was a bit more crowded for our taste but it was the Labor day weekend. Tip: You get 3 hr free parking validation, so bring your parking ticket with you.
Well worth a visit - not only oodles of fun for the kids in your life, but the staff are wonderfully enthusiastic and friendly to make everyone's experience a true delight.
A great place to take your kids where they can exercise their bodies and minds. There are themed areas for mechanical, light, wind, and water based activities. There is a toddler area upstairs, a recurring story time, and a pretend grocery store. I recommend saving the water area for before you leave because your kids will likely get wet. Well worth a visit or an annual membership which is what I opted for.
It's a great place for kids to play and learn even the adults will have fun. Everyone lime the water experiments
A thinking person's place to take their children! Tons of fun, interactive activities that will excite and engage your little ones.
My family loves going here. We recently went to a birthday party there and my kids really enjoyed the activities and crafts they had planned for the kids.
Very fun for my 4 year old. A little small in size, but packed with awesome activitues/centers. Very crowded on weekends.
This is a great place for children (toddler to pre-teen) and is in a good central location to access other amenities for the entire family. The Thinkery interactive approach to presenting STEM to the customer is praise worthy. I see both children and adults drawn to the exhibits and there is an outside playground so the keys can let loose.
We had my daughter's 2nd birthday party at the Thinkery this past weekend and I just wanted to share our experience and rave about them because they did such a phenomenal job. We booked the "Mini Masterpieces" party for 0-4-year-olds. When we arrived, they had the room set up and ready to go with the exception of any food, party favors, beverages, and cake/cupcakes we wanted to bring. We could have added more decor, but I'm glad that I didn't even worry about it. It wasn't necessary. They provided a cart for us to transfer everything upstairs and helped us with anything we needed.
They had a huge chalkboard down at kid height covered in chalk with bowls of water and paintbrushes for them to "paint" and see what happened to the chalk as children began to arrive. It seems like the simplest activity, but they had so, so much fun and the educator for our party, Elizabeth, sat directly on the floor and helped guide them, talked to them, and drew for them on the chalkboard. She was amazing!
I forget the order that everything happened, but they did two different paintings, story time, and played with a giant parachute in the room. They really kept the activities flowing from one thing to another which meant that the kids' attention was captured and parents could mingle and talk without feeling like they were constantly on the lookout for their kiddos. We had food out for people to graze as they wanted to, did "Happy birthday," and then chose to let the kids have some time to explore and play in the museum. Many of our guests hadn't been there before and I preferred they got to play instead of watching E open her gifts.
The kiddos (2 and up because 2 and under are free) were given a pass to return back to the Thinkery anytime within the next year. It was a fun little bonus to be able to give the parents. I absolutely could not have been more pleased. I'm currently almost 38 weeks pregnant and felt so carefree and not stressed about anything party-related or overwhelmed while I was there.
Great place to take the kiddos, especially to beat the heat indoors. Educational and fun, there are weekly and daily activities like reading time (including bilingual). I got my membership as a gift for Mother's Day and I am excited to use it often!
Excellent place for kids to touch, explore, expand their education in a fun environment
We went to one of their adult events last night and it was a ton of fun! They had plenty of activities and entertainment and it was a great price ($25 for two people). We also walked around and enjoyed their permanent exhibits which were very interesting and I can see how kids would absolutely love it.
Great kids museum! Have been here multiple times, I'm a nanny and this is a fun, safe place to take the kids!
The absolute best thing to do with children in the city.
Went on a school field trip. Good place to take kids for a day of exploring and learning.
Amazing place for kids and the whole family! You're kids will never want to leave this place since there's so much to do! They offer a free day which we took advantage of and I'd highly recommend checking it out!
Our 2-year-old loves it here. So much for the kiddos to do. Great on a rainy day when we're sick of being at home.
Love taking our 5-1/2 & 2-1/2 year old grandsons for a play date when we visit!
My 1 year old had a great time. Lots to explore with your little one
Why we dont have this in DFW? LOL We love bring our kids here.
Great children's activity center. 2 story building plus a patio filled with tons of kinetic activities for kids. My 4 year old loved it and it was a great place to key him blow off some steam on a rainy day during our vacation. Highly recommend for kids.
A great place for young children to explore, investigate, create, and learn.
Amazing place for kids! Park in the parking garage in back of the Thinkery, they will validate.
Not a lot of supervision or guidence from staff as I would like. Not a lot of learning going on either, just a big playplace. Water section was a complete mess with kids running around unsupervised.
This is an AMAZING children's museum. I took 2 of my classes on field trips here and they do a great job keeping the kids interacting and learning. I also made it a point to bring my nephew here when he was in town and absolutely loved it.
Good place to hang out with kids
Advice to all Parents , please take a extra pair of kids cloths as there are water experiments which makes their clothes wet !!
Pretty nice childrens museum. I enjoyed the light room. Went on a field trip with first graders, they enjoyed themselves but it was pretty busy. There were several other schools there at the same time.
Great fun! From blocks to giant light brights, my kids were totally engaged.
My family has been going here for years and have always enjoyed it. They have activities for all ages.
My kids and I really enjoyed the Thinkery. They have so much cool stuff there. They even had a room to nurse which came in handy for that and to regroup, when I felt my babies got over stimulated. We will definitely be going back soon. Next time taking extra clothes though because the water room gets very wet.
The kids like it a lot! Often times there are fun projects to do. There's story time and 2 or the songs are accompanied with sign language which is cool! There are a lot of activities for kids 11 and under. We have the annual membership and it is worthy. The enthusiasm wears off after 4 or 5 visits but once a month seems to be a fair amount of visit and the first 3 hours of parking are covered. The outside activities are also fun. I wish it was bigger sometimes, bit for the price is a no brainier. The pic below is one of our activities in the Light lab.
Sometimes it's crazy and chaotic here but it's always fun for my 4yo. We have annual passes and try to go as often as we can. Through the week is best since the crowd is smaller.
My grandson is 2 and loves it, we have a membership.
Brilliant place for kids all ages. For little ones it's great to help release some steam from their system. For older ones plenty of rooms / sections to learn and play
Fun but small. Wish that Austin had a bigger children's type of museum.
Strongly recommend for small kids. Lots of cool things to do and it keeps the kids learning and active. I would say the Ideal age is 3 - 13 year olds.
Totally packed during the summer. Also check out the free park across the street.
Great place for kids and adults alike. My only gripe is the price. A but steep for a family of six. Should have a better age priced admission cost.
The Thinkery is amazing! I grew up going to the old location so I was sad to see it move but it's great! I go with my friends kids all the time! 24 months and under get in free and an annual pass for 4 is only $95!
Fantastic interactive exhibits for young and young at heart. Particularly fun with a cocktail in hand so look for their various adult evenings to enjoy the fun. Liked- watching people get splashed at the water room, Really liked- watching tipsy people getting stuck on the rope climb on the outside playscape.
Great place to bring your kids! And if you are on SNAP, you can actually visit for free - which is absolutely wonderful of them!!
My son LOVED this place. He couldn't get enough. I definitely recommend people with kids try this.
Fantastic. Brought my 8, 6, and 2 year old there and they all loved it. Lots to do for all the kids. Price is high.
Cool Museum for the kiddos. Learning water to electrical currents, as well as motion using different play areas with golf balls. Power of light with GIANT light bright walls with awesome playground in the court yard. Get the munchies, there is healthy snack and drink vending machines. In the area with family, check it out! $12 per person, 2 yeys n younger free.
My 2 and 3 year old grandsons had a blast. If you bring more than one child have one adult per child. Each kid is going to find there favorite activity and not want to leave it. Parking in the lot is easier than on the street and at only 1 dollar per hour is a deal. But $12 per person is worth it .
a museum? Awesome and wonderful activities club for kids up to age 6, maybe 7. Visitors to Austin with soft children are most recommended to come to the venue. An unforgettable experience of a wide variety of supervised activities. We spent over 3 hours in the place and the Zatts did not want to leave, luckily they were hungry and went out to eat at a nearby complex. On Saturdays there is a nice mature market (9-13) for adults. There is a nice park area with artificial lake, fountains and convenient walking paths. It is highly recommended!
Great space to bring the kids and spend the afternoon
Fun for all kids. Has indoor and outdoor activities.
Great place for children! They also have fun activities for adults every once in a while.
Very cool places for kids and amazing people that work there. I had lost my phone while helping my little sister up the giant playground and when I realized it was gone. We found it in the lost and found, apperciate everyone there. Great place wish I could have spent more time there.
We have been there to attend a birthday party and we loved the place. It s a great place for the kids. They have so many items that the kids will love for sure. They also have a outside play area too.
Loved this place. Baby Bloomer program was great for my son.
nice weekend spot for kids to enjoy and learn.. my kiddo loved their water lab and lights lab and she refused to get out of the roller room
Very disappointed that even though the price of admission is full price, a large portion of the exhibits are closed. Also only allowed to spend 15 in each section and time is limited to about 1 and half hours total time at the thinkery.
Wonderful place with hands on activities for all ages of kids
We love it here. It's a great way to spend an afternoon with the kiddo being physical and exploring. He always goes home worn out.
Cute little kid's science museum/play space. Mid to high quality exhibits including pneumatic rocket launchers, magnetic gear trains, musical water features and an awesome fluid dynamics section. It is a bit small but you can easily spend several hours here with your little one exploring and rolling around
Great place for toddlers and kids to play! We come here almost every Saturday and it keeps our toddler entertained for hours. He especially loves the water feature activity, but there are lots of different things for him to explore.
We have a great time Everytime! We try to go as often as possible. My kids absolutely blossom at the Thinkery. I'm always so impressed by how many ppl are there yet I've never seen a dirty nursing room or bathroom.
Great place to take kids of all ages. Indoor and outdoor activities with lights, sound, water, air, simple machines, electricity. Be prepared to get wet in the water exhibit! Just make sure you follow the parking signs.
I love this place. So much to do for both kids, (toddler and school age). It was certainly crowded, but I expected that given the day we went. Wore both my kids out by the time.we left! Will be going back!
Super friendly and all very beautiful and children learn a lot
Not worth adults paying the high price. Most places have smaller price for adults and parents. Rather fo other places for the kids.
My 2 year old son had a blast here. We spent a few hours and didn't but scratch the surface of what a kid can do here. There appears to be several activities for older kids too.
Hands on fun for kids and adults alike! You can spend an hour or a day here with so many options of things to do and explore!
Fun place for kids and adults that are into science!
Our 18 month old had a great time at Thinkery. There were lots of age appropriate options for him. Definitely worth the visit
My 6 years old enjoyed it so much, she would not leave the place!
We're at the Thinkery around twice a week. We love the changing exhibits, the regular spots (always well maintained) the experiments and education in the room upstairs, the best story time story tellers and the crafts and fiddling with widgets that has filled the air rocket room. We enjoy the visits with our favorite staff members - philosopher Debbie (you can recognize her by the pink shoes she wears), sunny Samantha (who possibly has pink hair .. or maybe blue) Justyn always greets us with questions and always has good ideas. We love Katie, who I suspect is on a path which will lead to being a museum director or head of HR. We were sorry to see Jonathan leave, but having followed his educational path the last few years are exstatic about his internship and graduate degree. The new faces are exceptional. (Don't Worry. We aren't jealous that everyone is treated the same as us, whether it's your first time to visit or if you go regularly like us)
Great place to take children on a rainy day. My daughter is 21 months and absolutely loves it. Highly recommend it. There is also a park directly across the street that is clean and also great for younger children.
Lots of great active learning exhibits. Great for kids from 2-12.
Thinkery: Austin's Home for Science and Family Fun
Thinkery is a unique museum located in Austin, Texas that offers an interactive and educational experience for children and families. Formerly known as the Austin Children's Museum, Thinkery has evolved into a place where science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) come together to inspire curiosity and creativity.
At Thinkery, visitors can explore over 40 hands-on exhibits that encourage learning through play. From the "Spark Shop" where kids can tinker with tools to create their own inventions to the "Kitchen Lab" where they can experiment with food science, there is something for everyone at this innovative museum.
One of the most popular exhibits at Thinkery is the "Currents" exhibit which allows visitors to create their own circuits using wires and batteries. This exhibit teaches children about electricity in a fun and engaging way. Another favorite exhibit is "Innovators' Workshop" which encourages creativity by providing materials such as cardboard boxes, tape, scissors etc., allowing kids to build whatever they imagine.
In addition to its permanent exhibits, Thinkery also hosts special events throughout the year such as summer camps for kids of all ages. These camps offer hands-on activities that focus on STEAM subjects like robotics or coding.
Thinkery also offers programs specifically designed for toddlers called “Little Thinkers”. These programs are designed to introduce young children (ages 0-3) to STEAM concepts through play-based activities like sensory exploration or music-making.
The museum’s mission is not only about providing fun experiences but also about promoting education in STEAM fields. The staff at Thinkery believes that by exposing children early on in life to these subjects it will help them develop critical thinking skills necessary for success later on in life.
Thinkery has received numerous awards including being named one of Forbes’ Top 12 Children’s Museums in America. It has also been recognized by local publications such as Austin Monthly who named it “Best Place To Take Kids” multiple times.
Overall, if you're looking for a fun-filled day out with your family while learning something new along the way then look no further than Thinkery! With its interactive exhibits and engaging programs catering from toddlers up until teenagers - there's truly something here for everyone!
