Great performances! I recently saw my fourth TUTS show. It is consistently great quality entertainment with some stunning talent. It's the neatest venue with surprisingly comfortable seating. It's such fun to sit outside and see the performance.

We have not been to this venue for many years. It was every bit as good as we remembered, and better. The show was wonderfully put on, the staff are organized and professional, and it could not have been a better experience. Be prepared for cooler evening weather, as you will be out late. Definitely go again.
Great singing and acting, lovely set design. The entrance is cute and they sell hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and even alcohol. If you're a student and haven't bought your ticket yet, bring your student ID and get yours discounted. The hill the "on the hill" tickets are referring to is a low hill and to the side so do not expect to have a centre view. You will not be able to see their faces from the hill and only sometimes it will be a little hard to hear them talk. They sell seat cushions by donation. If you have a hill seat, you should bring your own blanket to sit on.
Great little areas in Stanley park that I didnt even know existed. I watched 42nd Street in late August and it definitely cooled down at night. If you go, make sure you bring coats and blankets. You will thank me later! That 1.5hr show will feel like 5hr if you're cold.
Saw the show newsies. Was pretty good for amateurs. Dancing and chorus pretty good singing a little off. Parking at lot very expensive 3.5 hrs 13.60 (there was a .20 cent service fee??? )
Love it.... beautiful experience. We go there every year....go early and have a family picnic in the park then watch the play. The great staff and the play are amazing!!!
Theater Under the Stars is located in Stanley Park Vancouver at the Malkin Bowl. It is very fun. As I know every summer there will be 2 shows playing once a night.
I come every year, it's not Broadway, but it's always a great time. The performances are put on with a lot of effort by amateurs, they are always well rehearsed but sometimes the actual performances can be a bit light, other times they'll blow you away.
This is a summer option only. Theater outdoors in the middle of Stanley park. A fun and entertaining night with great performances. Assigned seating with option of lawn seating as well.
Great performance in comfortable seats on a pleasant summer evening. Very good visibility of the stage from every seat. A very VANCOUVER thing to do. Don't miss it!!
Mama Mia was spectacular! Purchased from Costco 2 sets of the 2 ticket packages for $80/set, booking through Tickets Tonight. Had to leave a message but they called back twice and though it was late July we still managed to get row 8 right-side for Aug 4th. Seats were hard so the cushion rental (by donation) is a good suggestion. Parking at the lot was no problem arriving at 7:30 pm (show at 8 pm). Forgot to pay but used the phone app instead while in line for a drink. All the actors were good singers and the background cast were very cute opening doors and windows to sing backup to the main cast. The stage production is quite similar to the movie. Lots of young actors basically volunteering to be in this show every other night is quite amazing, wish they could be paid a bit more. Support the arts! :)
Always excellent productions and the venue is just so special - to be truly under the stars at night. There s nothing like it. Seat cushions and programs are by donation.
Wonderful production with excellent acoustic. We saw "The Beauty and the Beast" last week and are going to "West Side Story" during the next upcoming week. If you are visiting Vancouver during summer, try to buy tickets and you won't regret it. Awesome experience for everyone regardless age.
We really enjoyed our time watching Mama Mia! This summer. We purchased a bit late (a week in advance) and got center, back row seats (row Z). Seats were actually still fantastic and we could still see and enjoy the show perfectly. The actors/actresses, set, and production were amazing - the quality bar was much higher than we expected!
I've gone to TUTS for many years now but it is always been a beautiful night. However, that change this year and both shows I saw, it poured rain. I had no idea that the TUTS group handed out Panchos. They even stop the production so that we can all put our ponchos on. It was fantastic, as we're both shows
My girlfriend's family has been coming to theatre under the stars for many years, ever since they were quite young. It's a yearly tradition for us and we look forward to it every year. The shows are always amazing. The pricing is great, and what better way to spend a day then to wander through Stanley park, have a wonderful outdoor dinner, and then topping it off with an amazing performance. This year's 42nd Street was truly phenomenal.
TUTS is truly a wonderful experience l hope everyone tries.....An affordable way for the whole family to enjoy top-notch musicals in a beautiful setting!
TUTS is a long time family favourite summer event in Vancouver. There is almost always someone in the cast or crew that someone in your group will know, went to school with, or taught. The shows are always a big musical spectacle, with lots of singing and dancing. Local amateur talent is augmented by professionals if the director sees the need. The performances are always with loads of energy, and sometimes it's more apparent than other times these are amateur productions. Most of the production work is of a professional(or nearly) calibre. This is always a good night out. Bring bug spray for your ankles, and a shirt or light coat for the evening damp that sets in. The concession includes wine, beer, hot chocolate, etc. And there is a cantina for meals too. Nearby the rose gardens and playground you can picnic before the show. And you can eat at the restaurant there, too- it might be called Seymour's(?). It is just outside the front entrance of the Malkin Bowl.
Go see Mama Mia is you can!! It is a treat every minute!! What an amazing cast! So very pro!! The rocking ladies that play Donna, Rosie and Tanya are some of the best talent I have seen in Vancouver. Serious Chops!! The whole cast is high energy and makes this show an absolute blast to watch!! A real treat!!
Our son had a fantastic time at TUTS Jul 16-20/18 theatre camp and we really enjoyed the performance on the last day. Hope to do it again next year. Thank you to all acting coaches and assistants you are doing an amazing job.
A great venue under the stars. Food and drink available. At least at the show we attended. Sound is great. Can see the stage from any angle. And ATM on site but they take cash or cards. A great date night idea, too.
We saw a great production of Beauty and the Beast, there was a great atmosphere in the crowds, the set was amazing for an outdoor set and the acting was awesome. I recommend that everyone should attend.
Momma Mia was a Wonderful show with great energy and awesome set. Beautiful venue and comfortable new chairs. They little girls in front of us were enjoying as much as we did. Great for the whole family.
Mary Poppins was a complete waste of money. It was the show that would not end. I noticed several people leaving at the intermission. During the second act a man yelled out, "oh come on!" When the show kept on going on and on. I was so bored with the mediocre acting and amateur singing I literally fell asleep. Even after the big finally, the show went on. Most surprisingly, after boring the audience for what seemed like five hours, the cast stood up and pleaded for donations. Honestly! You people stole my $50, how can you possibly ask for more. TUTS your time has come to an end. IT'S BEEN A GOOD RUN.......
