My husband and I visited the Woods Inn to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, and we loved it! It's a beautiful location, and a gorgeous historic building. The restaurant's food was delicious, and the tavern downstairs had a great atmosphere and live music. We would highly recommend it to anyone who likes quieter, relaxed places that really get you into relax mode. The customer service was amazing and every staff member we encountered was beyond friendly. We hope to go back someday!

Clean room, great view of the lake from our room, bathroom was large and clean. Bed post was sitting on a brick to level out the bed. Fan did not work at the time of arrival, but a working fan was quickly placed in our room.

Lovely food in a lovely setting. The staff were very attentive and we we're lucky enough to meet and chat to the wonderful owners. Afterwards, we strolled out on the beautiful dock as the sun set. Prices were very reasonable and competitive with much lower scale local competition.

If you re into snowmobiling, this is the place for you! Great access to the trails, lively tavern, and food onsite.

If you re looking for a quiet room to relax and stretch out in, I wouldn t recommend this option. While the Inn has a great location on the lake, the rooms are pretty noisy. The restaurant was directly below our room and the tavern a floor below that - both were pretty loud + we could hear everything happening with the guests staying in the room above us.

The owner, who has a dog, has decided that there are no longer pets allowed on the premises, including service dogs, according to Travelocity. We were forced to leave 2 hours early because I was unhappy A) because of the fact that she tried to speak to my children about this issue rather than myself or my husband, B) she never bothered to address the "many complaints about my dog barking" even though he was with us most of the day to myself or my husband, and C) my husband observed her outside after 1030pm drinking with others, long after my children and dogs were asleep. Since no pets are allowed, I'm not sure what she'll do with hers. Also, you're not allowed to legally ask if your animal is a service animal.

Do NOT have your wedding here! Rudest owner in the...

Do NOT have your wedding here! Rudest owner in the entire ADK region!

While you will hear a lot about a rustic Adirondack lakeside beauty in each reply from the owner to his critics on TripAdvisor or Facebook or possibly on here, as an avid Adirondacks enthusiast I can attest that is true for literally ANY hotel in the region. However, that fails to overcome the owner's horrible attitude and demeanor towards paying guests nor does this offset the absolutely despicable behavior for which our wedding group was subjected.

For starters, the owner would uncomfortably nitpick and micromanage every aspect of our group's behavior. As family members prepared our rented boat for an afternoon in the sun, each person was rudely interrogated by the owner for bringing coolers containing our afternoon lunch and lakeside snacks onto the watercraft.

Despite the fact that each paying guest had already spent an absurd amount of money on multiple bar-purchased cocktails, we were verbally assaulted for preparing our coolers and accused by the owner of circumventing his established bar. When informed that we were all holding drinks from his venue and coolers full of food, even showing him the contents (why should we have to do that?) we were threatened and told to move our coolers to our bedrooms.

At first, this was thought to be a minor annoyance of an ill-suited manager who lacks solid customer service experience, a situation we have all dealt with and could easily shrug off. However, the behavior not only continued it worsened!

Those guests who wished to enjoy a cigarette or cigar were routinely talked down to and asked to leave despite standing in the sanctioned smoking areas.

The guests who chose to swim or eat on the dock, were consistently approached with a hostile attitude and at many points even a terse and on some accounts raised voice by the owner for their style of dress (whether shirtless or shoeless), or their food or drinks (and interrogated on whether or not they paid the bloated prices at the ill-equipped restaurant and bar).

To make matters worse, the owner interrupted multiple segments of the wedding ceremony to complain, verbally assault and victimize guests who would question this micromanagement of our affairs, or to adhere to the strict requirements down to the second.

To give you a specific example, while guests were saying goodbye or planning their after-wedding events at the close of the ceremony the owner unplugged all of the lights in the reception hall because the clock had exactly struck 11PM! Leaving the guests in the dark, literally, confused and uncomfortable as he walked the floor to demand that guests leave immediately and go inside! If it weren't for all our friends and family being avid Adirondack-lovers who crave the outdoors, the experience would have been ruined. Literally any other hotel in the region would have offered the same "rustic Adirondack beauty" that the owner mentions in every reply to every critical review while taking no accountability for his behavior and lack of customer service.

It is an old hotel, so no AC, no TV, blah blah blah. When you are in the ADK that does not matter. However, if you want to be treated like a customer and valued while having a wonderful wedding experience -- GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! We very nearly had a horrible experience due to all of this. Again, if it were not for the fact that our company of friends and family is so well connected and share a love of the outdoors this wedding would have been horrible. It was wonderful in spite of the owner. I could not recommend this location any less.

To the owner: do not host weddings! You are clearly not suited for this line of work. To put it in similar words you oft reply to your critics: I suppose a fun, uplifting and enjoyable experience is not for everyone.

Hubby and I enjoyed our stay at the Woods Inn. The building and rooms are beautiful. We really like the old fashioned bead board in our room. We had dinner on the side porch that over looks the lake. The food was delicious. And the tin ceiling in the main dining room is gorgeous.
The only thing that really bothered us was the lack of deep cleaning in our room.. There were dust bunnies and a soda cap under the bed. The bed frame had a discarded lollipop stick and dust. There was cigarette ashes on a windowsill and an empty beer bottle right outside the window.
Other than that we had a really great time there. We hope to come back in the summer. I bet its super pretty then.

This was our second year staying in one of the Field Tents, and had a great experience both times. There is a great view from the dock at the Woods Inn for drinks in the evening. Great location with the ability to walk to other restaurants/shops/bars in Inlet.

Several gluten free options. The fish tacos were delicious. The wings were very tasty and cooked/ grilled perfectly! Cozy place, will definitely be back!!

In a word - DISAPPOINTMENT! My wife and I were in Inlet last week and we saw that The Woods Inn sign boasted the "Best Pizza" so we thought we'd give it a try. We entered and went up the stairs to the host station where we encountered a less than hospitable host who we later found out was the owner. He asked if we had a reservation and we indicated that we did not. He scowled and looked down at his reservation book before warning us in a disapproving tone that normally reservations are required (something not on their sign or website), but he did have a table available. He pointed us to a QR code for the menu and seated us. We looked over the menu and noticed that the pizza was listed under the "Tavern Only" section. When he returned with some bread I questioned if we were in the right place to order pizza and he informed us that we were in the fine dining restaurant and that pizza was only served downstairs in the tavern. I should add that the existence of the tavern was less than obvious and there was no indication that there were two places to dine. When we went downstairs the tavern was largely empty and was only staffed by a single bartender who took ou order for pizza and wings. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and an order of wings (10). There were a couple of other tables and the kitchen was upstairs so the poor bartender who was all alone had to tend to the three tables and go upstairs to get the orders and bring them down resulting in very slow service (not her fault). All this would be worth it if the pizza was as good as they claimed, but I can't imagine a town anywhere where this would be the "best pizza around". The pizza was on a tasteless premade crust, the sauce had no seasoning, and there were only about 10 pieces of pepperoni. The wings were grilled and tasted fairly good, but the skin was rubbery.

I can summarize the long review by saying that it's clear the owner doesn't really seem to care, the prices are high, and the food isn't very good.

Our daughter got married at the beautiful and charming Woods Inn this past weekend.
Charlie, the owner was very attentive and paid attention to details.
The venue is beautiful, food is delicious and the staff took pride in their presentation and service.
Our guests enjoyed themselves and were comfortable.
We rented the whole Inn and that was great because you own the place on the wedding day.
When we checked out after the Sunday brunch Charlie hugged us!
Thank you Woods Inn and staff for a lovely wedding!

I recently spent a solo vacation at The Woods Inn. I can't speak enough about how welcoming the owners and staff made me feel. The food is wonderful and the view from my room was picture perfect. I can tell that the staff really cares about the people and the place they work for. I was able to enjoy my "me" vacation and completely relax. Thank you to The Woods Inn for a special and fun time!

I would never book here, I called Carolina 2x who is the manager, told her I needed a room where I could take a dog, she never once in both conversations said that there was a fee for the dog. I told her I was booking online, once again never offered to let me book through her. I get my receipt for the $125 plus $10 tax for $135 for the night..10% down, 40% 14 days prior to staying the rest at check in. I then later on get another e-mail for $162, and they took $81 that day. I called and mentioned the difference and that she never said a word, she agreed she "forgot" to tell me 2x about this. I ask for the owner...I speak to him and he says he is better off just cancelling my reservation bc/ it is not their fault that they failed to give me the proper information...HOW IS THAT NOT YOUR FAULT. I stil l need a place to stay...yet bc/ they can not be honest up front and then honor what they tell a paying customer...they cancel...I would stay as far away from this place that you can...EXTREMELY rude...and disrespectful...as I was trying to come up with a resolution with him he just kept talking over me, said he was just going to cancel me and then hung up....SERIOUSLY...said bc/ of the area he has a hard time finding workers...well sir I think it is time you try to find one that can do her job and be honest!!!!!

The Woods in is in a beautiful setting. We loved sitting by the water in the adirondack chairs. It is right in the town of Inlet, which is great if you want to explore. It is a lovely old hotel from a different era. We arrived late and the owner was so kind to carry our suitcases up the stairs for us. the rooms were very clean and the bathroom was spacious. We did have an issue with the beds in room 204 being to hard. Thus my 4 star rating. We went in search of help at 11pm and again the owner was so kind. He brought us quilts to help soften the bed. In the morning we asked if we could change rooms. The front desk and the owner guided us to 3 other rooms, we choose room 104. the beds were better, but still to firm for my thin body. If you like a very firm bed, you will be fine. If not bring and egg crate as this hotel was a great experience. We had dinner in the dining room looking over the lake. The food was delicious and portions
were large.

No TV in room, No air conditioning in rooms, and walls are paper thin could actually hear the guy next door grunting while taking a poop. Restaurant had good food location is great. Charge for early check in. Guy working front counter sounded like Count Dracula and had a creepy laugh. Mostly likely never going to Inlet, NY again. So I will stick with Lake Placid and Lake George.

This is the 3rd time I've taken a photography class at Woods Inn with the Adirondack Photography Institute. I've never stayed here - I stay with family in the area - but have eaten many meals here, taken lots of photos and interacted with the staff.

This is a wonderful place! A big old classic Adirondack hotel with modern amenities, it still has wooden rockers and locally crafted "twig" furniture on the huge wraparound porch, and Adirondack chairs on the sloping lawn down to the lake. You can canoe or kayak right from the hotel, or snowmobile in the winter.

They also have some fixed tents you can stay in, but I don't know anything about those.

The classes are held in a separate small building right next to the hotel with its own bathroom, and it's a great setup. Quiet but handy if you want to grab something from your room. And they have a big function tent.

The location is excellent too, right in the town of Inlet. It's a nice little town for walking around in - good bakery, ice cream shop, stores, a nice park on the waterfront. And it's close to both Old Forge, with all its shops and activities, and Raquette Lake, with the Durant sightseeing and dining cruise boat.

Theres a big parlor on the first floor with couches and chairs, and the dining room, with big windows overlooking the lake. The food is great - everything from venison and trout to salads and lobster mac and cheese; I've never been disappointed.

The service is also wonderful. All of the staff seem genuinely happy to help, even though I'm not a guest. If I wasn't on a budget (and my aunt wouldn't be put out), I'd stay here when I take ADKPI classes.

If you're looking for a classic Adirondack vacation, this is the place to come. I've been coming to the Adirondacks all my life, and it's sad that there aren't many of these places left, where you can just relax and enjoy the quiet and see the stars reflecting in the water at night.

Beautiful Adirondack inn. Stopped in for dinner with my son after a day in the woods with our attire not quite up to snuff for the dining room. Food was delicious. I had the stuffed filet of sole and my son had the 5 cheese ravioli topped with lobster. Both dishes were excellent. And the view of the lake from the panoramic dining room windows was fantastic. This will be a regular destination for us in the future.

A wonderfully enjoyable evening. Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was very good. My only issue, the vegetables could be better seasoned, asparagus bland. We met Charlie, the owner... very friendly and passionate about the Restaurant/Inn. Nancy, our hostess... so courteous and sweet.
Thank you for a wonderful evening

First time stay. Room was comfortable. In the main building there's extensive original furnishings and decor. The $8.00 buffet breakfast is better than you'd get at the major hotels and is all fresh cooked, no egg patties here.

This will be our third year staying at The Woods Inn. We just love the charm of the Inn. My Kids are 12 & 15 and we go snowmobiling during our February break. The restaurant has great food and great service. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Guests gather in the great room and talk about local places go to and different local experiences.

We visit the Adirondacks each fall to see the leaves. On our last Sunday we always go to Woods Inn for their all-you-can-eat breakfast. Not only is the food excellent, we can sit on the porch and look out over 4th Lake, and later stroll down to the deck & gazebo.

They also have excellent dinners and a cozy bar if you're in the evening.

The location is beautiful and serene. After we eat we walk out back to the water and it's just so peaceful. My fave menu item is DEFINITELY the Pork Osso Bucco. Perfectly cooked everytime. YUM!

We were a bit skeptical about the inn when we first arrived, as the room was VERY noisy, and there was about a three-inch gap between the door and floor of the door that separated our room from another room. However, amazingly, everyone got quiet at around the same time, and stayed quiet until a very reasonable time. The grounds are also beautiful, with a lovely lake-front pier that we enjoyed at night. The bed was not comfortable, which ended up as the actual downfall, and our room appeared to be right over the kitchen, which was very hot. We would definitely go again, however; we would just choose a different room!
