The woods inn is really good for hosting parties and special occasions like weddings and family get togethers. Also a great place to stay for the night. The food there is good and beach is nice. The pier is great place to see boats loons and plenty of fish. You can also fish off the dock and get some nice fish.

They advertised in a local flyer as a restaurant but when we got there, there were no signs telling us where the restaurant entrance was. We walked all around the building until we found the entrance to the Inn and waited while the two employees finished their conversation to ask for directions.
The brunch buffet they served was good but expensive.
The grounds outside were weedy. Not well kept for a business.

The service was an absolute disaster. We waited over an hour for our meal. No one came to apologize or explain. The manager and servers avoided us completely. After waiting an hour and 15 minutes, we were told 10 minutes. The food was average, but the service was upsetting. We will not be returning in the future.

We love staying at The Woods Inn! As soon as we returned from our stay in one of the carriage house units last summer, we booked our stay for the next year. Beautiful vlake views and sunsets from the dock and property, excellent dining options, very helpful staff, great location. Highly recommend. :)

In a word - DISAPPOINTMENT! My wife and I were in Inlet last week and we saw that The Woods Inn sign boasted the "Best Pizza" so we thought we'd give it a try. We entered and went up the stairs to the host station where we encountered a less than hospitable host who we later found out was the owner. He asked if we had a reservation and we indicated that we did not. He scowled and looked down at his reservation book before warning us in a disapproving tone that normally reservations are required (something not on their sign or website), but he did have a table available. He pointed us to a QR code for the menu and seated us. We looked over the menu and noticed that the pizza was listed under the "Tavern Only" section. When he returned with some bread I questioned if we were in the right place to order pizza and he informed us that we were in the fine dining restaurant and that pizza was only served downstairs in the tavern. I should add that the existence of the tavern was less than obvious and there was no indication that there were two places to dine. When we went downstairs the tavern was largely empty and was only staffed by a single bartender who took ou order for pizza and wings. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and an order of wings (10). There were a couple of other tables and the kitchen was upstairs so the poor bartender who was all alone had to tend to the three tables and go upstairs to get the orders and bring them down resulting in very slow service (not her fault). All this would be worth it if the pizza was as good as they claimed, but I can't imagine a town anywhere where this would be the "best pizza around". The pizza was on a tasteless premade crust, the sauce had no seasoning, and there were only about 10 pieces of pepperoni. The wings were grilled and tasted fairly good, but the skin was rubbery.

I can summarize the long review by saying that it's clear the owner doesn't really seem to care, the prices are high, and the food isn't very good.

Dinner service and quality was excellent for our last minute reservation for a party of 11 Friday night! I have been here over the past years many times and it seems they really stepped things up this year! Really great meal and everyone in our group was pleased.

We had our wedding here in September and it was fabulous! The setting is perfect, the venue and grounds are well kept and clean, the staff is attentive and personal and super friendly! They really go above and beyond to pay attention to details. The pavilion is a great space, with walls and heaters if needed. We had a buffet style dinner which all of our guests complemented. Guests can stay on site which is an added bonus. If you are thinking of having your wedding here do not hesitate! Can't say enough about what a wonderful event it was! I recommend renting the Lakeview cottage for your wedding party!

Nice hotel, beautiful views but if you plan on coming and relaxing forget it! Absolutely no peace & quiet in the room. It was so noisy in the hallways at all hours. We were woken up at 7 am with a crowd of people outside our room having a discussion which wouldn't have been so bad except we were kept awake the night before with the drunks arriving back to their rooms.

We have stayed multiple times and love it! Great Adirondack Experience.
Big Clean rooms and great staff. If you are looking for a fast food hotel chain type experience go somewhere else. If you want an amazing place to chill out with friends and step back in time to experience the Adks it's perfect!

This was my second visit to The Woods Inn. The hotel complex complete with restaurant and tavern is unique in the area. As a rustic destination it is a throwback to more relaxing times. The staff and owner are cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable about the area making sure that your visit is pleasant. We stayed in room 304. There are only four rooms on the floor and 304 is at the end of the hall so more private. The exterior stairway serves a private entrance. The mini-fridge and split bathroom with jacuzzi tub were welcome modern conveniences, especially after a day of shopping and hiking. But the highlight is the wonderful view overlooking the lake below your windows. This will be an annual destination.

Although the server was pleasant and polite, and the food was good, the service was very slow and the food took over an hour on the ticket time! That's not acceptable in my book. I had my credit card out on the table when the waitress looked directly at it, handed me the bill and walked away. 20 minutes later I had to leave cash so I could leave after two hours in the restaurant after ordering just an entree! The view was perfect, but ruined by the wait staff and kitchen staff. Sorry folks, but you need to get a handle on this to be considered higher end as a restaurant.

i give this place 5 stars because they allow public to watch the fireworks at their lake shore. free of charge but you can eat there, have drinks. plenty of room to stay the night. but you'll pay big bucks. the food looked good and a little on the high side. after hiking , shopping last 4th of july here in inlet we went here and had drinks and watch the fireworks which made a perfect end to a wonderful day. we might go back here this year but this time we might get a room. the staff was really nice and this historic building was awesome and so relaxing. i would recommend this place to everybody

We had our wedding there in September of 2014. The entire hotel and staff was perfection. Every need we had was met and with above and beyond service. The staff even helped us secure a tent at the very last minute due to rain and we were so grateful. The accommodations are top notch, the food is phenomenal the atmosphere is perfect. Honestly, for events or just a perfect ADK getaway there is no place better than The Woods Inn.

We called last minute and got a room that they said was a cancellation. I honestly think it s just a bonus room that they give if it s all booked up. It s a handicap accessible room that it in the main building on the bottom floor.
I can t vouch for anything other than the room because we left quickly in the morning, but we were far less than impressed. So just know, you may get this room that looks MUCH less dreamy than other people s photos.
We were directly under the kitchen of the restaurant or something and it was so loud. It was also creepy to hear drunk guys right outside our window (that didn t lock) who were leaving.

I wouldn t have been quite as annoyed if it cost significantly less, but there s still an eery feeling when you open a closet door and see 3 set mouse traps. Bathroom door is very crooked too but you can still close it with some force. The front door also shows a major lack of weather stripping so the room will get pretty cold in coming months.
I ve seen on other reviews that they will say we should bring up concerns to management but that doesn t concern us anymore because we won t stay again. Just want to warn others to check it out first!
The pier to the lake is gorgeous though!

The Woods in is in a beautiful setting. We loved sitting by the water in the adirondack chairs. It is right in the town of Inlet, which is great if you want to explore. It is a lovely old hotel from a different era. We arrived late and the owner was so kind to carry our suitcases up the stairs for us. the rooms were very clean and the bathroom was spacious. We did have an issue with the beds in room 204 being to hard. Thus my 4 star rating. We went in search of help at 11pm and again the owner was so kind. He brought us quilts to help soften the bed. In the morning we asked if we could change rooms. The front desk and the owner guided us to 3 other rooms, we choose room 104. the beds were better, but still to firm for my thin body. If you like a very firm bed, you will be fine. If not bring and egg crate as this hotel was a great experience. We had dinner in the dining room looking over the lake. The food was delicious and portions
were large.

We have stayed at the Woods Inn three years in a row. We love the experience of an authentic Adirondack Hotel in a beautiful setting. This is one of the few such hotels left and it has been beautifully restored with some modern updates such as free wifi. We can't wait to go back.

Went, "Glamping" at The Woods Inn located in Inlet, NY. Awesome experience. Was a cold, rainy Friday night, heater in the tent, dog in the tent, wine in the tent, rain on the canvas over the tent, ahhhhh. Saturday was cloudy, we napped and missed what was, I'm sure an awesome sunset . The town is adorable, the tavern was quaint and staff very friendly. Awesome place if you want to enjoy ADK and bring the . See pics from our visit.

Burklyn Cottage at The Woods Inn:

Burklyn Cottage at The Woods Inn:
Would not recommend. Photos on website and Airbnb listing are very deceiving. The cabin is only mere steps away from The Woods Inn: no privacy or seclusion at all. There was no visual barrier or physical distance between us and the Inn, and the grounds were crowded and loud. This was surprising given all the photos made the cabin seem secluded and woodsy.
Overall the cabin did not seem very clean: the toilet leaked dirty water all over the floor, several dishes in the cupboard were visibly dirty, and the bathroom did not seem thoroughly cleaned. The electric grill outside was so dirty it was unusable , and there was no private dock as advertised. I hate to have to write a review like this, but we were so disappointed.

Portions of food not enough . I left hungry. Great food though and prices not too bad. Very beautiful for evening dinner- looks over 4th lake in Inlet, NY. Can get there by boat as well as driving. I would of given 5 stars but the only problem was not big enough portions of food. I'm a small person and usually always have left overs. Not there. All servers very kind too !! Great location for weddings or any parties

Great little hotel in the Adirondack's. We spent the first three nights of our honeymoon in the Woods Inn and it was perfect. The bed was a little uncomfortable but it wasn't terrible. Shower was fine and the view is great. We missed breakfast, but we've eaten there before when not staying and the food is decent. The bacon is pretty good. The worst part was that we could hear another guest's phone vibrating all night long from a different room. So in other words it's great.

The Sunday brunch is perfect for the weekend get away couple, not so great for the fam. No kids prices on the brunch ($12.95/each!). The spread is amazing with quality food. I would encourage the Woods Inn to dump Starbucks for a local coffee roaster or a New York roaster.

Mr. Frey, to fully understand your frustration, you have to understand the moment. This was my daughter's 21st birthday and that we love your restaurant, food and staff. We contacted you in early to mid may to confirm the dates and times, made arrangements with family and friends. What upset us was the fact that we were not told of the changes in the business hours/days. Had we known sooner than the day of we could have changed the date and work with you. I also mentioned to your staff that our prior visits to your sister facility were less than expected. So your options were offered but in the heat of the moment they were not sufficient. Given time we will still visit and enjoy your restaurant. And hope you can understand our moment of anger.

Restaurant and bar are closed on Wednesday and that's not obvious on the website. Also walls are thin. On the plus side, the building is historically interesting, on a lake with loons calling in the distance, and the porches are filled with rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs on the lake. The general building ambiance is good, the rooms are adequate. - mattresses are a bit firm for me. Just don't come on Wednesday night if you want to eat or drink here....

I ve been going here for my birthday for 6 years now and the food is wonderful, but this year they were an absolute disaster. I was told on the day of our reservation that they no longer are open for dinner on Wednesdays after we made a reservation 2 months ago. The fact that they failed to inform us that they made this change is pathetic and the most disappointing customer service I ve seen. The chef is wonderful and I give props to the food and the workers, but this managerial failure is not one that will be repeated as I do not plan on going back.

Pros:

Pros:
- View to the lake
- clean rooms
Cons:
- Loud aircondition and construction work during the afternoon
- smell of the Restaurant Kirchen going through the AC to the room during the evening

The House is old - so u can expect a lot of noise but you can See that they Invested in renovations. For the Price of the room it would be minimum to have a second reading light, refrigerator or TV.

Visited with a girlfriend to get some moderate hikes in, explore the local town's shops and restaurants. Beautiful view, right on the lake, and it feels very serene. There are a variety of room options to suit your needs. It is only a 15 minute drive to several nearby hiking trails, also with wonderful views, so this location is really perfect for a rustic yet comfortable Adirondack weekend getaway. Owners are very welcoming, personable and happy to help with any questions, recommendations. It feels like you are staying with family! (photo taken from the backyard/lawn of the inn)
