This review has been a long time coming. Our family s first and only time experiencing what is called church hurt . We moved here from out of state in 2017 right before Hurricane Harvey and chose to attend this church due to us being impressed by the outreach effort that was made by the church to help the community. We threw ourselves in the church in hopes to meet our new church family. Our family was involved in a few different ministries, including small groups. We attended both the Harvest and Loft services. We were faithful attendees for six months. We left after six months feeling incredible pain, rejection and loneliness. No matter what ministry or small group we were engaged in, we felt as if we were looked past . It was as if we were there but not really. No one took the time to get to know our family or even us personally, not even in the small intimate groups settings, some at church and at people s homes. We felt as if we were just taking up their space. We did not feel welcome in any of the ministries at this church. And we were involved in several different ones. This church feels very elitist and is very non-diverse in terms in people of color and class. Many powerful people in The Woodlands attend this church so if you are one for social climbing this would be the church for you. I don t know if it was because we were the wrong color or didn t make enough money, but we definitely did not feel welcome here. Many of the first questions I was asked as a man was what do you do for a living upon first meeting me, and my wife was asked what does your husband do as if to gauge how much our monetary value was worth. We filled out a welcome card with our information and address on it and never received a welcome from the church but upon speaking to a wealthy business owner newcomer in a casual conversation while welcoming them to the area, they informed us that they had filled out the same card and received a call from the church welcoming them and the wife was taken out to lunch by a church welcoming member. It leads us to wonder why we were not given the same treatment. I could give plenty of examples of how awful we were treated but we have since forgiven of our experiences and have moved on. We are a multiracial couple with modest means who have a heart to serve Jesus and love others. That s what we thought we would find here at this church but what we found was the far opposite. I will give credit to The Loft services pastor Rob, who did seem to be a kind and decent human being. When we left our small groups not one person bothered to reach out to us despite having our contact numbers to check in on us. Like I said, it was like we never existed there. I pray that this church goes through a heart change and truly practices what it preaches . If you want to go to a church that values diversity, human hearts no matter what your income is and where you will feel welcome, check out Woodsedge Church. This is all our opinion on our experiences at this church. We understand others may have had better experiences and we praise God for that.
