Very empowering; gives just what you need while making you feel welcome and worthy. If you're thinking about calling, do it the staff is super supportive and just there for you if you need someone to listen. Or some hope there's a way to get your life to where you want to be. Don't believe what you hear it assume it's so much different so much better than you can imagine.
My very first time being in a shelter and my worst experience in my life!!!!! they do not like people because of the color of their skin. They are very nasty and can care less about your situation. They talk down on your children and will not put heat on in the shelter if you are BLACK!!! YES BLACK!!!! They withhold your mail and after 30 days you are not permitted on their property. You have chores as if you are in a orphanage ( scrubbing walls, baseboards, mop floors,WASH WINDOWS... etc..) They are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and lack economical or racial education. You are not allowed to bring electronics or toys inside and they have to go somewhere you will be on "LOCK DOWN" UNTIL THEY RETURN. I WILL NOT recommend anyone who is going through any DOMESTIC VIOLENCE to attend this shelter. IF I COULD GIVE THE 0 STARS I WOULD!!!!!
I could tell that for the most part the other people there wanted to help but I couldnt get the help I needed when I needed it at the time because their supervisor knows someone.Also thanks for escorting me and my mother rudly out the door when we needed your help and thanks for denying me help for my kids too. Just know I've built myself up without your help anyways. Just hope noone else that you may know causes someone else to be turned away that truly needs help.
