Just go to the Vic Center it s free and way more to do
Very informative. Wonderful views. Good place to take the kids.
This place is magical!! We spent the better part of 2 days here, first exploring the outside and then on a rainy day exploring inside. This was a highlight of our trip to the Lake Placid area, for me and my husband and our 13 yr old son. Great for all ages. Part nature center, part playground, part animal rescue and rehabilitation, part history museum, it is a must see. Don't miss the iForest.
A great display of information about the history section of the daks and the wildlife in the area.
Its a beautiful place. My only complaints are its not bigger/more to see, and the parking lot is smallish
Took my 2 sons ages 5 and 8 yesterday. They had a great time. Lots of fun interactive areas and plenty of staff and volunteers to make the visit worth it.
Good for a day trip. Food options are pretty limited.
The Wild Center is a Science and Nature Center in Tupper Lake, New York, that is dedicated to a world where people and nature can thrive together. Inside, there is a 54,000 foot exhibit hall where you can learn about the environment or potentially meet an animal or two.
Outside there is a lily pond, multiple hike opportunities, canoe trips you can join, and most excitingly, the new Wild Walk. The Wild Walk takes visitors up a trail of bridges to the treetops of the Adirondack Forrest. On the walk, there is an eagles nest where you can explore the view, a spiders web to jump into, a giant tree to explore, and more!
Overall, this was a great stop. I would say that you need a full day to really feel like you get the full experience, but you could stop by for a few hours and hit the highlights also.
Very entertaining and educational for young children.
Really cool history and nature museum in the adirondacks.
Very well done presentations about falconry and other wildlife. Learn new things every time we go.
The Wild Center is one of our "Must-Go-To" destinations whenever we are up in the area. As many times as we have been here, we always find something new and interesting. We stumbled upon the new music trail quite by accident. It was quite an experience. Don't be fooled by other reviews that say the place is geared mostly to kids. While there is plenty for the kids to do, and my sister's kids loved it by the way, the wild center has a great deal to offer adults without kids as well. The entire facility, indoors and out, offers a lot of opportunity to take pictures. The restrooms are kept clean. The entire facility is ADA accessible, even the nature trails. There are wheelchairs available for visitor use free of charge. This was very useful on a previous trip when a friend of ours hurt her knee while skiing the day before. Be sure to check out the gift shop before you leave. The Wild Center is well worth the price of admission.
Awesome experience!! Great place to bring your family. Lots to do, easy to spend the whole day there
Nice views fro the treetops & an educational museum within about the history, animals & plants within the Adirondack Mountains.
Awesome place for the whole family! The board walk in the trees had amazing views of distant mountain peaks. Tons of cool activities for kids and easily accessible for anyone. The museum/ science center was great as well. It s different how the water on the back of the building comes up almost level with the windows!
We held a wedding here it was soo beautiful .. huge place with great views and attractions
This is a can't miss place when visiting the Adirondacks. Great exhibits and the outdoor walk is out of this world. Hands on learning at its best.
Quality exhibits, Overpriced Admission
The whole museum took us (no kids) about 30 mins to do including the wild center. There is some quality exhibits here, a lot of great habitat and activities for kids. Unfortunately the otters must have been sleeping because we didn't see them. Gift Shop was nice. Wild Center was neat but very short. Overall if you aren't from this region and this is all new to you it should be a blast. To me, it was nothing special but i hope some of that admission is donated to preservation.
My brothers wedding was here back in October of 2017. Amazing landscapes and colors and just everything was so much fun. The staff were kind and helpful throughout. Highly recommended.
I didn't go into the museum, but the outdoor part was very cool!
This was a cool place to visit. Didn't have much time as it was a stop off on a canoe trip so we will have to go again and spend more time. If you are in the area I would recommend a stop.
Good for smaller kids. Museum was interesting and well done. But nothing to keep kids interested for long. Once you do treetops, bridges and spider nest, there was places to hike.
For us this walking trail in the woods was the main reason to come to the park and for no reason it was closed although there were more than 3 hours till closure of the park. We were not informed about that and paid the full price, but indeed half of the attraction was not available.
This was well off the beaten path for my vacation crew but we are glad we made the detour. The Wild Walk is an obvious joy for children and the center itself is filled with knowledge and fascinating sights. There is also a nice on-site cafeteria. The restrooms were well-kept and the staff was gracious.
Great place for kids and adults. Experience the outsoors with multiple sensory experiences. It was a great family stop on our way home from Lake Placid.
Nice park with walkways suited for families. It's expensive, though.
Excellent nature center with a wonderful adventure trail. The museum is awesome with lots of hands on learning experiences and live animals.
Great place for kids and adults! We didn't bring kids!!
Very informative about the Adirondacks. It has a nice gift shop as well
Only the outside attractions are currently open but it is still worth a visit.
Great time. Got to see a porcupine eat corn on the cob!
Love visiting the Wild Center. Always fun and informative.
Went here a few times, it gets very boring over time but its a pretty nice place
Always a fantastic nature museum experience in the Adirondacks! We really enjoyed the oxbow river canoe experience. Exhibits partnering with the Mohawk and Haudenosaunee featuring aspects of indigenous life are a powerful addition!
This place is so cool. So many things to see. Loved the i forest with its tranquil music. Fun for everyone.
Awesome place indoor exhibit second too none planning to revisit soon!
Doing a great job keeping visitors safe, lots of room to spread out. Even the kids have room to run.
Very interesting, want to go back. Limited access during covid. Have to pre register. Didn't get email but they had info and we got in. Did walkway and river walk. No inside open currently. Have to wear a mask, but it's worth it!
Nice spot to see nature. Otter tank was a hit with the little ones.
Amazing place. Kid friendly, interactive. Outdoor and indoor activities
Fantastic day trip the museum was very interesting and informative. The outdoor part was a blast!
Amazing and beautiful. Very well built and quite unique.
Wonderful! We loved learning more about the natural environment of the Adirondacks - the fauna, the birds, the mammals, the insects - and those wonderful otters! Beautiful spot and well worth a visit when you are in the area! Fantastic for small children - lots to see!
quality learning. well cared for and well thought out from exhibits to the stick building area. took approx 3 hours to explore wild walk + outdoor trails, adding on the center proper would add another several hours. highly reccomend
Lots of material to explore, not only for the kids, even adults should go there.
I went to the live owl section. By telling why the owl was hit by car, the worker also ask us the using less light to avoid the light pollution.
Good for me to hear that.
Someplace great for kids just got better. The raised bridges made this year's trip even better than the last.
Vert nice place. Very nice for kids.. adults can be sort of boring
Such a neat place. The kids love itwith sucha friendly otter and the wild walk is so much fun. There are trails and lots to do inside and out. The mueseum food is the standard and it would nice to have more gluten free options. But there are lots of bathrooms and it's great to be able to get close to nature but not too close
Amazing science museum, best part is the gift shop!
Beautiful place, great interactive displays. Great spot to bring the kids
So much fun. Museum and outdoor activities bfir tue whole family. Worth the drive.
Well thought out adventure for ALL. Indoor exhibits with meaningful explanations. Kids area to do the activity of the day. Our 5 year old was able to look at various specimens under a microscope. Nice gift shop. The walking trail to the nest is awesome! Very easy walk even though it is on a very gradual incline. Lots of fun activities to do on the way up and back down. For the more adventurous, there are a couple suspension bridges that lead to a tree with stairs inside. On the ground they have some easy to medium hiking trails. Trails with non-easy terrian are labeled so you know what you are heading into. Will visit again and recommend!!!
It was a nice time except the map should read much better for the trails. Grounds were nice.
Beautifully done - the IForest is a must see. Wonderful for the whole family.
Really fun place, it small but has ALOT to do, definitely an all day trip.
Great place to spend the day with the kids..lots of learning to be done in a visit here.
A great experience in the heart of the Adirondacks, informative hands-on exhibits and great trails. My kids still talk about the dining room at lake level. Our family can't wait for the tree top trails next year
Great for kids. The pictures make it look higher up than it is when you are standing there, but still a beautiful view of the Adirondacks.
Awesome even in the rain. Lots of interactive exhibits.
Excellent exhibit on the Adirondacks and the wildlife and plant life found in the region. Children will enjoy the pine play area and the elevator walk.
Great attraction, a must visit if in the Adirondacks.
Awesome place we spent hours there and the kids loved it!
You have to visit both the Walk and the Museum. Pictures are from the little lunch bar inside museum.
Really nice place especially the tree top walkway. The experience was better than I expected.
