Heard good things about this place. It's a 40 minute drive from where we live, but it's a quaint change of scenery. My friend made reservations around 11:15 to beat the lunch rush. The staff is so friendly. I ordered the soup and sandwich combo, which included jalapeno pimento cheese sandwich on a croissant with side of avocado. My soup choice was chicken and dumplings. I was quite disappointed because it seemed I didn't get any dumplings and the flavor was mediocre. I mentioned to the owner afterwards and she told me to speak up next time and she would've fixed it. She was really sweet about it. I ordered dessert to go. I got the triple chocolate cake (which I'm eating as I type this) and the peach cobbler for my mom. As a chocoholic I think it's ok. The icing is a bit too sweet for me. Overall it was a nice experience. I'm sure I'll be back.
More than a tea room. Delicious home style food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I had the best chicken salad sandwich I have had in a long time. Great ice tea and a big selection of cakes for desert.
My wife had the quiche and loved it. Worth the trip to Tomball to eat at this place.
The food was good and the desserts were amazing but......
We had a Christmas party here. They crammed 22 people into table space for about 16. A few of us were still sitting around talking after the party was over and we were asked if we "got an acceptable amount of time and if we had we needed to go" Will never go back again. I thought that was very unprofessional and rude. They've lost a customer and I will spread the word.
Great food, great atmosphere, service always top notch. And friendly
Worth waiting. Great soups and sandwiches. Excellent tea. Great atmosphere.
This is a tea Room in downtown Tomball very close to the railroad tracks in a shopping area that is highly themed.
The clientele is largely female and the menu caters mostly to female customers. It's a nice place with reasonably good food but just a little pricey.
Was my 2nd time to eat here and really enjoyed it. Love all the shops you can just walk one to the other. Nice place to spend a few hours with good food and then some unique shopping.
Amazing food and service...the owner was such a sweet Lady. I will definitely be going back as often as possible and bringing friends and family. I wish there were more places like this closer to my home. FYI....have the YumYum Pie....it's delish!!!
Always enjoy the Whistlestop. Had the Spinach Salad. Loved it as usual
First time but will definitely be back. Great staff and atmosphere.
One of my favorite lunch stops. They have an amazing menu, and the wide selection of deserts is too tempting to pass up.
I recently just stumbled on this cafe while browsing the beautiful downtown area of Tomball. What a gem! Friendly and fast service. The decor is precious, and the food... DO NOT EXPECT ME TO SHARE!!
Their Spinach Chicken Enchilada Casserole is amazing. I had the enchilada combo: my sides were the tortilla soup (Yummy!) and broccoli salad (A pleasant first time trying this.) joined by a magically refilling glass of unsweetened ice tea (They do have premade sweet tea, also. There's no need to pile sugar at the bottom of your glass of unsweet tea!).
If you are anywhere near Tomball for lunch, make your way to The Whistle Stop Cafe. There's no way you'll regret it.
Whistle Stop Tea Room is a quaint little place to enjoy homemade lunches and desserts. Seating is limited so be sure to arrive early. Good homemade sandwiches, soups and dessert of course! Fun place to visit while you shop the Relics on the Railroad.
Absolutely love their desserts, and their potato soup. Service has been a little slow last few times I've gone. Food is great though!
Desserts have strange flavors, left an odd taste in your mouth. 3 desserts and 4 drinks cost $35! It was also quite loud, and not at all as their picture showed.
Great place for lunch. The food is delicious and the service is awesome.
Good food, atmosphere, and BUC-EE'S-LEVEL MEN'S RESTROOMS!
The was my first visit to the Whistle Stop. I had heard great things about the food and customer service. I can confirm that the rave reviews are genuine!
My party and I were seated quickly upon arrival, despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon. Our waitress was cheerful and prompt. She continuously checked on us and refilled our drinks as needed throughout our visit.
The food was DELICIOUS!!!!!! My friends ordered the soup and sandwich combo. I ordered the soup and salad combo. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. We were satisfied with what we ordered.
The overall experience was pleasant.
Love this quaint cafe. They have savory lunch plates, flavored tea and the croissant bread pudding is out of this world. Definitely a Tomball gem.
Pricy but nice and the food is good. A little noisy but to be expected when several women are in a tea room.
Always amazing!! Must try Chicken salad, Broccoli Salad and Bread Pudding by Far!!!!!! Oh and Chicken enchiladas.....Yummy!!
Great variety, quality and pricing of food along with good service.
Wonderful atmosphere and the food is great. It is a Tea Room but I see more and more men catching on! Definitely my favorite Tomball spot!
Great food, pleasant surroundings. Always crowded because everyone likes it, but this makes it difficult to hear for older people. That's the only downside.
Good food excellent service great atmosphere and music was entertaining!
Cute Old Country atmosphere. Amazing food. Service was great. A little pricey though.
Went there Saturday with my wife. Been there a few time in the past. Food always good. Prices always way over the top on what you get, but went anyway. Ordered two meals, three desserts to go. Lunch good. Had to wait 10 minutes just to check out. Here s my big beef about this place, it has changed in a negative way. Paid with credit card, and now instead of you writing in a tip, they want you to pick from either 18%, 20% or 25% (I believe the last one was 25%) I always leave tip, but if that is my only option when presented the bill and being pressured to pick one and not put in what you feel is right. No good. I chose the lesser of them. Not happy with there new system. And, when I got home later that night, opened up the key lime pie that we took home to go. It looked like it was just scooped and thrown in the container upside down. Looked like a blob of who knew what. That s what we got for $65. Kinda outrageous for two meals and three desserts. We can go to many other places for less and for better food and service. After seeing the dessert and thinking about the way I was presented the bill. That s it. Your run is over with me and my family.
Service was really good. My wife and I were greeted kindly and shown to our table. We were having a bit of an off day, needed a lot of time to decide our order. Our server was very patient and showed no hint of frustration or impatience. She readily answer all our questions, including the same question a few times, all with a kind smile.
Our food took a little long to get once we did order, but the place was very very busy. When we did get the food, it was all very good. It won't be a normal spot for us to hit up, but we will certainly want to show our friends and family when we want to show them around Tomball.
I wasn't blown away with the chicken salad sandwich, but the desserts are out of this world! Very friendly staff.
Absolutely the best!!! Cindy, the owner, is always there with her personal touch. The food is top notch as well as the service. The desserts are mouthwatering and you cannot go wrong with a BLT.
Super cute place, love all things bout it. Friendly faces, expensive taste
Good spot for traditional southern American tea room fare. Salads, soups, sandwiches, quiche and desserts. Come early or late for lunch, otherwise be prepared to wait in line.
Yum-yum. Great food -fantastic deserts! Perfect for girls lunch or special occasion lunch. Try it. You won't be sorry.
Great food, great atmosphere, service always top notch. And friendly
It's a tearoom atmosphere.....with great food, and mainly the desserts are to die for, but a little bit pricey for a tearoom in Tomball Texas!
Super cute sweet place the food is always sooo good and the desserts are the best. sweet place for a girlfriends to hang out
Food is delicious!!! Perfect for a quick & tasty meal!! You've got to try it! AND, we didn't have dessert but it did make our mouths water!!!
Had a fabulous lunch today. Enjoyed the good food, great service, and incredible desserts!
The atmosphere is adorable and the food is delicious
My absolute favorite restaurant in tomball! I eat it at least once a week. Everything on the menu is great, but their chicken salad is the best.
My first visit and I have to say I was impress. The food was great the atmosphere eccentric. The price reasonable.Service was awesome and the dessert amazing.I will Definetly be back again. So go and enjoy !!!
The cake was delicious but the service was HORRIBLE and from the owner!!! After being showed to our table I sat down my 5 month olds car seat next to the table to take off my jacket and before I could get an arm out the owner walks up, touches the handle of the carseat and says, literally, "You need to move that right now". I was so taken aback that it took me a second to respond so she goes on to say "I am the owner here and that needs to be moved, NOW". I was still completely in shock that #1 my child is refered to as "that" and #2 the sheer rudeness of how I was approached. She then explains that it was a tripping hazard so I moved the carseat to a chair. While my child wasn't in the middle of the walkway but right next to the table where a chair would have sat, I totally understand the concern but the approach was completely rude and borderline offensive. To add to the horrid start, I ordered the special for the day and we also had cake which another member of our party was paying for since they did not prepare a cake like she had requested the week before. When I went to pay my check the lady at the register looks at my ticket and asks didn't I have cake. Now, if you think there is something that should be on my bill that isn't take that up with the server. Don't shake down customers like they are attempting to steal something! I had to tell her all the cake was together on another bill. Not only that, the owner informed our party that they Saturday's are really busy and our party had an hour and a half to eat. I have never been treated so terrible! NEVER AGAIN, the cake wasn't THAT darn good...
Good place for woman not for men the food is average but the cake is very good
Great little lunch place...food is good and prices are reasonable! Will eat here often!
Very good impression on 1st visit. I have to recommend on the horseradish creamy sauce. Only that we were led to be seated at the far end of dining hall which is usually common for hostess every time they saw an Asian in the group. Thankful that this time, the hostess understands my hubby does not walk to far end. We seated as we chosen. Thumbs up on steaks, if you like medium rare.
Come on, folks, time for a palette reset here. At these prices, Whistle Stop should be using better ingredients. The chicken tortilla soup is made with a salty taco mix of some kind, not homemade: canned corn and a shred of chicken. More
Great Food and very nice place to eat. Great place to eat.
The food was extravagant! Fine detail Into the design, loved the waitresses, but not mostly they treat you like family
Chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. You can thank me later. It's amazing. Just don't get seated by the dessert display. You'll leave with a whole cake.
Lovely- great waitstaff- thoughtful, good food, good portions, tortilla soup and chicken salad, bread huge, lots of dessert choices, tea in all forms. You can order to go or dine in. Fun atmosphere.
Chicken fried steak is really small but good. Good service
This isn't right that we can't bring a birthday cake In. I will not come to this place for my birthday in August.
Had a delicious lunch at whistle stop tea room and topped that off with a slice of almond joy pie. Yummy!
Great food and attentive waitresses. The cherry on top was I dropped my credit card on their floor and did not know it. The owner found the card and was able to locate me. Talk about Texas Hospitality! This place has it. Thank you. I will be back.
Great service and food. The must-tries are the mango tea, jalapeno pimento cheese, potato soup, and the key lime pie!
The food was delicious and the staff very friendly.
Our party had a horrible experience. I made reservations a week in advance and ordered a cake to go along with our baby shower. The lady on the phone took all my information. When our party arrived, the owner Cindy, pulled me aside and told me that she "does not do" baby showers at her tea room. She then informed me that she does not sell cakes, and only sell them by the slice, none of this was spoken of in the phone. She told us that we could only be there in an hour and a half and then we needed to leave. She continued to bother guests by reminding them of the time and that they needed to hurry and finish. As soon as we stood up to pay, she immediately moved our purses and pulled the tables out from under us and started rearranging for future guests. When I spoke to her she would say nice things in a loud tone, to make it seem like she was being friendly. But, then would whisper ultimatums to me. She has now lost not only my business but the party of 8 that I was with. If you are considering having a party or a baby shower at this to tea room I would highly suggest choosing another place.
