For the price, this hotel does not add up. Pros: Nice looking lobby and room. Bed was comfortable. Pool was comfortable. Outdoor bartender was friendly. Cons: Bar closed early. Ordered a drink by the pool and it took 45 minutes to arrive. Receptionists were very slow. Staff over the phone was incredibly rude. Was charged a $20 resort fee upon checkout which is NOT SHOWN DURING BOOKING on top of the booking price. Isn't this ILLEGAL?

Spent an awesome Labor Day weekend at the Westgate Hotel. Rob and team really went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. Our stay was booked through United Hotels and the staff provided us complimentary wine service through this booking. I would definitely recommend staying at the Westgate Hotel if you're in San Diego. Their $7 happy hour specials helped seal the deal for us. Thank you!!
What is there not to love about this hotel? It is absolutely beautiful inside and out and the service is amazing. Kevin at the front desk is so helpful and very knowledgeable about the hotel and the area. Location has lots of shopping and eatery options. Rooftop has a pool and a track and nice seating and views. I love the historic and nostalgic feel of this hotel. Will definitely return
Definitely a five-star rating. Impeccable service, they upgraded our room without us asking. Nice view of downtown. The restaurant found their way again after the shutdown. Our room showed a bit of wear, but was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Room service was fast and good. Prices are reasonable for this level in downtown San Diego. Really good deals on the happy hour menu.
We thoroughly enjoyed a 2-night stay at The Westgate. It was a lovely surprise to be given a complimentary bottle of wine at check-in. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable bed & bedding, toiletries, lighted vanity mirror, blow dryer, iron AND a steamer. We enjoyed the hotel channel s music featuring Sinatra, Armstrong and other great classic tunes. And the city views were lovely. The pool area is comfortable. The outdoor gym looked nice. There are a good number of patio chairs. Location is great as it s walking distance to public transport and the gaslamp area with various restaurant/bars. There s a CVS close by as well. We enjoyed some appetizers at The Veranda, which were good. When we walked back from dinner we were pleasantly surprised to hear a great live jazz band at The Veranda! The only downside was we couldn t open the sliding glass doors yet noticed other rooms had them open. Aside from that, it was a very lovely stay.
Superb hotel! They served great food for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their lobby is clean, the security system is good as well. Also, the room was spacious and very clean. We enjoyed our stay here. Everyone was kind who let you feel like you re at home and help you with everything. We'll be back again. I would highly recommend this cozy place to all my friends.
Nice hotel, great staff, has an old 1940's feel about it. Love the lobby, lots of antiques and artwork. 2nd night had an issue with the toilet getting clogged, but had barely used the toilet paper, so that was fun... Overall it was pretty pricey, but very nice hotel.
We stayed here for a few days with our kids. The lobby was very nice and grand. They either have a king bed or two full bed options but they don t have 2 Queen options so it was a little crowded for us.The rooms were a little disappointing as they were outdated but not in a good way. The rooms need a little extra tlc. The wallpapers were peeling and our curtains were ripped. The hotel has potential just needs to be refreshed. The location is a 15 min walk to the convention center. It s close to fifth st and little Italy. The daily parking rate was expensive so be prepared for that.
I absolutely need you to know this hotel was such a class act!! From check in to check out I was so impressed. We came back late from dinner and the most amazing employee had the energy of someone who just started their shift. He showed us the beautiful ballroom and even offered to take pictures. Thank you Gabriel!! If I had any complaints about it experience, it would be that the pre ordered amenities were not in the room as promised and we had to wait a few hours but everything was so nice I forgot to complain.
