I have never had a bad experience here. The staff is welcoming and the environment is college/family friendly and cozy. The food is completely worth it for the price. Village Cafe is definitely one of the fine jewels of Richmond!

Oh so so so good!! Cool, trendy place. Open late, perfect for a meal or a quick bite after a good time downtown. Very friendly hostess. She even got us dessert after the kitchen was closed. We looooved the warm peach cobbler, big burrito and the quesadillas. They have vegan & gluten free options.

I have been coming to Village Cafe for over two years. Today, my boyfriend and I stopped in on our day off duty to get lunch. There were no silverware/napkins at our table. Our waiter, Jonathan I believe, avoided our table like the plague. My stromboli was burned and cold in the center. To top it off, when we were leaving, the bartender asked our waiter "Did they tip?". Incredibly rude. Despite not being properly served at all, we had still left a good tip. I have never been treated so rudely at Village Cafe. Very disappointed, as I had good memories there.

I lived just a block away from the Village for 3 years and have eaten there more times than I can count. I absolutely love this place! The food is great, the service is always wonderful, and the atmosphere is quintessentially Richmond. The breakfast food is my favorite, and it's served all day! Next time you're in Richmond and craving a fantastic diner experience, I would highly recommend stopping by the Village Cafe!

Great for pre game Ram fans!
We used to order delivery to the hospital and when the hospital moved to Hanover, they still accommodated us; wonder if they still do? - that was twenty years ago!

The service was nice enough, and despite being packed, the food arrived in a timely fashion, but the blueberry pancakes I ordered mostly tasted like baking soda. The atmosphere and decor was busy and uhhh... diner-y? If you're the sort of person who would have a Christmas nook set up year round, maybe this will appeal to you.

Went once, got the regular burger with pepperjack cheese which was really good. The fries were really good too. I also got pizza cheese fries which were ok but I was just really full from the burger. Food came out really fast and the service was great. Went at like 3 o'clock and it wasn't very busy. I think I'll find myself back here.

I shared a sandwich and iced tea when I arrived late for my lunch appointment. The BLT was more than enough for a typical quick meal. The service was outstanding. I was offered an ice tea to go . I couldn t have been happier. This iconic VCU neighborhood restaurant has survived all the economic challenges as far back as I can remember when I graduated over 30 plus years ago. This place is a must do when ever you re in town. Oh ,and the prices are very reasonable!
I love the food and drinks! Enjoy!

Village has an unbelievable selection of food, not to mention an incredibly friendly staff. I would recommend this place to everyone in the world. Great food, good alcohol selection; just an all around fun place to be.

I've loved this place since I was young. It's SO VCU! As in, you KNOW you're by VCU when you visit, just from the staff and patrons - this is a good thing. It's so easy to just "fall into" the Village, because it's so comfortable. Good food, zero stress... Just go eat and chill. Have some pancakes! They're delicious... Especially the bananas ones. Oh, and the prices are so reasonable! Love.

There were no good surprises with this place. Looks like decent handout spot if you don't care that much about you food, cause the cooks and management don't. I had the ribs and was pretty dissaponted.

This place is okay but it's nothing to brag about. The service was horrible. I waited so long for a waiter to come to my table and the bartenders ignore you. The food was okay. It tasted pretty ordinary. It didn't blow me away. The so called jumbo wings were just little drumettes. My margarita was very tasty though.

The food was pretty standard cafe fare and all of it tasted pretty good. The portions were overall pretty generous, as one from my party ordered a plate of chicken fingers from the children's menu that looked like it could have been a small at other places. My sandwich was a good enough size, but my side was a bit on the small size; it seems that had I ordered fries instead of broccoli for my side, I could have expected a bit more. While I myself did not order a soda, several in my party did and they were pretty massive: they came out with mini pitchers full of the chosen beverage; nobody ordered a refill on the soda because they were so huge in the first place. The inside of the restaurant had a nice, casual atmosphere and our server was helpful and pleasant and overall it was a good place to visit for lunch.

I used to not go here because of one time I went three years ago and my chicken on my sandwich wasn't done but I decided to give it another time this past weekend and I feel in love with the black bean burger I had. The customer service was also great. I have completely changed my view about this place.

Yes went to meet my buddy from work for a few beers. I was ignored at end of bar for a good while before a reluctant young lady saw me waving money . yes that is rude but what was I to do. Ordered small pitcher of beer which she filled about 65 percent full and set at her edge bar where I could barely get to. Yes I am not a hipster but am an engineer and successful person . had to buy beer thru my buddy because he fit her so called mold. Not looking for anything but a beer and comraderie!
