Beautiful campus, my family always walks the grounds. I use to take my boys here to the observatory... We always walk the vassar farms... Great area for the locals to enjoy. Trails, ponds, ball fields, in the summer you can view the gardens.

I graduated VC in 1979. It remains with me as a remarkable educational experience. Be prepared to work, and work hard, but there is no end to what you can do there. Remarkable independence, remarkable respect for learning, remarkable intellectual vigor and happiness. How I remember those great winters sitting in the library reading philosophy while the wind blew - then, of course, down to the college bar.
I was honored to go work for few hours at Vassar. From the moment I entered the main gate I felt magical. It was like living in one of those famous movies . Beautiful , clean, peaceful, great energy.
Class of 1964. High school in a small upstate NY village, but I learned how to think, evaluate and always, always go to the source before making up my mind. Fifty years later I still think it was my most important educational experience, and I say that having been a physician. Quiet, gorgeous campus. My only sadness is that it became co-ed in the 1970s. I think the same-sex experience was very important for me and gave me the confidence to be able to face medical school, overwhelmingly male in the 1960s. Generous scholarships made it possible for this young woman to have four wonderful years of education that still I still use.
I'm not a student here. But I usually come around here to collect my thoughts hanging out by the pond setting up a hammock and enjoying the scenic views. Would be 5 but there's usually trash around the park benches unfortunately.
Your ticket to unemployment. Don't go here or to any liberal arts college. You won't get a job trust me. Major in STEM at a university. That will actual get you a job.
YEAH GOOD PLACE I WASN'T A STUDENT, BUT I HAD WORKED THERE FOR A LITTLE WHILE IN THE GROUNDS KEEPING DEPARTMENT CUTTING THE GRASS AND I LOVED IT AND I ALSO LOVED & RESPECTED THE VETERAN GUYS THAT WORKED THERE FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS LIKE BILLY PEACE!!!
I Love walking through the campus but now they have a closed campus in pedestrians are not allowed on campus such a shame I loved riding my bike food there in looking at the beautiful scenery. OPEN THE CAMPUS BACK UP TO PUBLIC
My daughter is finishing her freshman year and absolutely loves it here. She has had so many growth opportunities on the campus, instructors she admires and establishes strong relationships with, private voice lessons from a renowned singer, open, accepting students, the list goes on. It has been a nurturing yet challenging place for her.
I don't go to this institution, but I pass by it every now and then. The funny thing is I was raised on the streets, never followed any rules, shunned books and dropped out of high school and still make more money than most of the Vassar graduates. Pfft.
I have practice there. Nice college but don t recommend attending this college. It is a very nice college but they will drain your bank account and leave your child with lots of debt
First of all, I do not attend school so I cannot comment on the quality of education you'll receive at Vassar College. I enjoy visiting various colleges and universities and I take photos because I find them very photogenic and Vassar did not disappoint me at all. Walking through the campus was very peaceful and quiet. It was Parents Weekend and the college was giving tours. I went everywhere with my cameras. My first stop was the college library. It is beautiful in the inside just like the outside. Check out the stained glass window inside the reading area. I found the science building very interesting too. When I went to the chapel somebody was giving instructions or possibly lessions on the huge pipe organ. Sunset Lake provided a great photo opportunity. Vassar Lake was not as pretty. The Main Building was busy with visiting parents. I briefly went into the art gallery but I had my backpack of camera equipment with me and I did not want to leave it anywhere. I would have loved to have seen it. Vassar Collage: famous and classic.
It's been 20 years since I attended Vassar, so my opinions might be a bit outdated, but it was mostly a good experience for me. Vassar has a beautiful campus, which compensates for the underwhelming city it is part of, Poughkeepsie, NY. Maybe the city has improved in the last 20 years. I haven't been there in awhile. Anyway, very good professors for the most part, small classes, lots of discussion by students in class, often with thought-provoking subject matter. I don't know if they are still there, but Andrew Davidson, Luke Harris, and Lawrence Mumiya were my favorite professors. The reading load is heavy, so I hope you like to read (although a lot of my peers didn't bother with a lot of the reading, which was too bad...) Look for the knooks and crannies of the library if you need time to read. There are some nice quiet abandoned areas if you look for them. Campus wide debate was sometimes a bit constrained. A lot of my peers from rich families didn't like affirmative action, and when I submitted an opinion column to the Miscellany News noting the prevalence of 'legacy admissions' in the college admissions process, which are a sort of affirmative action for rich kids, they didn't want to print the article, but ultimately did when I insisted. Overall, no major complaints. I'm glad I attended Vassar.
Wonderful college that offers a very diverse campus. My daughter is a biology major. Her instructors are exceptional and very accessible. She is very happy she chose to attend Vassar.
Fabulous school. Liberal Arts education at its best. Ignore the anti-liberal arts comments because this school teaches how to think and live us a diverse world rather than just providing job training.
I enjoy the gothic structures ,the centuries old trees ,the observatories ,vassars flower gardens are well worth seeing ,an impressive library and art center ,there is a nice lake on campus to relax to
