The Tides Inn is a Landmark in the Northern Neck. The Grounds and Interior are classic and well kept.
Had a business lunch there today.
The Service was horrible. Order taken incorrectly. Soup came....no spoons. Had to steal from another table. Iced tea...no lemons.
Food.order took a very long time and they were not that busy.....food was very ordinary.
Next time I want to impress and entertain a client I will chose some where else....VERY disappointed!

Great place for a small wedding or elopement. Our wedding had just close family invited and the Tides has a nice elopement package available for weddings with 20 or less people. The staff was very accommodating. There were a few hiccups but I m giving them the benefit of the doubt since the woman who was initially helping us went on maternity leave and I believe a few things got lost in translation. Overall, everything was corrected and our day was beautiful. Other water venues in the area were too big (100 guests or more) or too expensive. The Tides checked off most of our wish list.

As far as staying there for vacation, I don t know that I d return. The rooms are not as nice for the prices you are paying. You have Resort prices for an Inn so that is something to take into consideration.

Epitome of Virginia hospitality! One of our favorite places. The guest service is incredible! The hospitality of the staff makes it even better. It feels as if you are staying at a friend's gorgeous river house!

We had a wonderful time at the Tides as a couples getaway weekend! The property is absolutely beautiful. We had a great time doing all the activities - tennis, golf, frisbee golf, and biking to the little down of Irvington and the Dog and Oyster winery (highly recommend!) We also did a sailing class with Premier Sailing School (Arabella was our instructor), which was perfect! Would definitely go back, such a great place to stay and a great home base for exploring the Chesapeake area!

It is a nice hotel. Very clean. The front desk check in was not very welcoming. Although we did not eat there we looked at the menu and was not very impressed. Not a golf course and should not be advertised that way. Expensive but the only other cleaner alternatives would be an Airbnb.

Came here for a wedding. Prices posted were $200 a night... Sadly, with extra resort fees and completely unnecessary baggage handling (which no one needs but is forced on a per person per day) brought up the total to $250 a night. Honest pricing would be nice, just tell people it's $250 a night and stop these gimmicky extra fees.

Very cozy and elegant establishment nestled in a cove off the Rappahannock River in Irvington, VA. Beautiful estate, which provides excellent food, lodging, spas, golf and marina to boat to, tie up and venture the grounds.

I highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway.

If you have never been to the Tides Inn and are considering it - just do it! From the time you arrive you are treated with not just wonderful customer service, but also like a long time friend. My best friend choose this location for his engagement and the entire staff was in on making sure it was extremely special. The food/beverage manager is outstanding, and we must give a special shoutout to our mixologist Al who made some of the best cocktails I have had in my life. The town surrounding the tides is adorable, offering other wonderful restaurants to pop in to. It is very reasonably priced compared to other similar resorts and provides the perfect balance of a relaxing atmosphere and sophistication.

Went for dinner & drinks on the terrace. View is very good and staff is friendly, but the menu needs work. You'll pay twice as much for... no reason at all seemingly. Either have better food and more options or more reasonable prices.

Had a couple of fishing trip out of here, it's a very nice place. The Marina is where I spent most of my time, it was a nice marina. If you are coming by boat be sure to call ahead. If you're driving in you'll probably already have a reservation but if not give them a call. You'll love it.

"Sublime" doesn't give due credit to this stellar resort. The food is definitely five-star (the she crab soup is some of the best we've ever had) the property itself is outstanding, the atmosphere is Southern relaxed, the golf course is top notch, scenic and challenging (a crown jewel of a bevy of recreational pursuits). The staff is eager to please and they succeed. We look forward to making several return trips. The inn can be on your trip to historic Williamsburg and well-worth the stop. The only danger is you won't leave.

Where to start, the staff is wonderful and makes sure you always have what you need and everyone is just so very nice. The property is more beautiful than the pictures, so relaxing and lovely, perfect for couples or families. We had our wedding there a few weeks back and couldn t have had a better time or more enjoyable experience. During COVID times they did an amazing job making everything seem as normal as possible while keeping everyone safe and comfortable. I cannot recommend the Tides enough!

The Tides Inn is a legendary establishment on Carter's Creek just off of the Rappahannock River in beautiful, historic Irvington, VA. I've been coming here my entire life (40 years), and it's always a special experience. Although expensive, the food is excellent, the views are beautiful, and the amenities are luxurious and fun for all ages. It is a great place for really young kids, which is rare for elegant establishments. There are so many fun things to do!

We went to the Tides on a whim. We really didn't know much about the place but decided to give it a try. The grounds are well-kept and the views from the restaurant are peaceful. The food was good, but if you are not into seafood, you will not have many options (at least for lunch). Overall, a really nice place. The challenge is that it is an older place and built long before accommodations were made for people in a wheelchair. We had a manual wheelchair with us and it is very challenging to make it around the grounds. This really is not unusual for older places like this but certainly worth knowing for those who have that situation.

I really enjoyed this hidden gem with my girlfriends this past weekend! We stayed overnight ending with a spa day. We were able to get an awesome deal through Travelzoo so it was well worth it! Enjoyed lunch outside at the Chesapeake Terrace with a beautiful view of the water. Must try their Lancaster lemonade it was really delicious! The resort offers so many activities to keep yourself busy. We decided to go crabbing so you can ask the activity center for string and frozen chicken.

The spa experience was fantastic! We all got seasonal package which includes a 90 min bee happy body treatment plus a 60 min signature facial. It was my first time doing a body treatment and I m in love! My skin still feels really smooth and soft! Moroccanoil and Elemis products were inside the women s locker room for use/to try. Their spa is really tiny and they don t have a sauna, steam room or hot tub. Also, the waiting/relaxation area was kind of awkward considering it was coed and out in the open. I think their spa facility needs an update considering the prices that they charge.

The pool is pretty big and it overlooks the water. Plenty of chairs which is great! Towel stand offers free towels to all guests. Food service was efficient and affordable.

I would highly recommend this place and would return again.

PS: They offer free cookies at the valet stand around 4pm.

A very beautiful location. We don't get to relax as much as most people because we go when they have events and my wife has a booth for her paintings. The view is fantastic and the staff is very helpful. The photo is from our room.

Look we want the Tides to succeed, but they keep providing poor service, with resort prices. I don t mind paying for good food and great service, but the bartender at Fish Hawk pushed us to pay our bill early saying there was a thunder storm watch. Granted it was a Tuesday night, but asking us to leave at 8:50 pm wasn t right. I love the old trick of turning off some of the dining room lights. Again, we want the Tides to succeed, but this isn t the recipe for success!

My daughter reserved the Tides Inn for her wedding this past December and had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend the Tides Inn for your next event. I want to share another experience I had with the Tides Inn. When I came home from the wedding, I noticed that I could not find my small jewelry box. I couldn't quite remember if I brought it with me so I searched the house and could not find it and contacted Carole at the Tides Inn. She let me know a few days later and said that nothing had been turned into them. Then a few weeks later I received another call from Carole stating that housekeeping had found it. She said that houskeeping found it when they were cleaning our room and brought it to the manager but he was out. Since it was the end of the year and the staff is laid off the housekeeping staff did not want to leave it unattended so they hid it in a safe place. When they reopened the housekeeping let the manager know and they contacted me. They shipped it the next day! So thankful for an honest staff which is another plus about the Tides Inn. Thank you so much for your honesty!

I was attending a 2-day business conference at the resort with one night stay. As such, I did not get to sample much of what the resort has to offer, and will focus on what I would for any single night hotel review. For starters, it is very picturesque. Beautiful in fact! There were a lot of activities available which were included in the resort fee. That fee also included Internet access throughout the resort, but I found it to be very slow and sometimes I could not even send or receive email. There was always someone standing near the front door to open it for you which is the first indication that you should be in for some great service. The staff, however, seemed to do so like it is their job, and are missing the genuine smiles and eagerness to serve evident in some other top resorts or even full service hotels. My room for one night, 371, was well furnished but you could see upon close inspection that the room was very old and had paint or wall paper attemping to make it look fresh and new. The bed was very plush and I slept very well. There was no power in between the two beds, and none available behind the matress. There was one outlet on the desk, which also was small. But I don't imagine this would be a problem for most who are not busienss travelers. It was very hot when I was there, over 90degF, but the room's air-conditioning worked extremely well and kept it cool at 68. There was a door leading to a good size outside porch with table and chairs overlooking the water. There is a locked fridge with snacks which I used to cool my zero carb energy drinks I brought, as they only offer diet Coke for low calorie drinks. The shower was fine except it was bathtub style and didn't have a bowed curtain rod. My arm kept getting stuck to the curtain. I did get to go down to the water one night and enjoy some smoors. There was a beautiful sunset. Had it not been 89deg, I might have enjoyed it a lot more. I imagine that this might be a fantastic resort due to the activities, which might offset my quibbles with the room. However, I'm not overly impressed with what you get for the money.

Had a wonderful overnight boating stay here. Dock fee is high, but all the facility amenities come with it making it a relative bargain. Pool, par 3 golf, showers, laundry, gym. Get a slip at the main facility if you can, but they have a water taxi from the remote pier when they get busy. My kids loved it. Friendly, easy-going staff. Watch out for shallows to right of main dock.
