This place is simply fantastic, such beautiful houses in a wonderful nature. It truly moves the visitor a century ago in the life of our ancestors.
As usual in the Swiss German part, everything is perfectly taken care of.

What a gem! As a family with 4 children we had an absolute blast there - especially during these dim Corona times! Plenty of space to walk, run and go mad for your children.
Food is available on site too - however, we didn't buy any, we had a picnic instead with our own food.

One day is not enough to cover everything, so better buy a family pass for several visits like we did. It is cheaper and you won't regret it.

Make sure to check weather forecast and have some spare clothes in your car (if you're coming with one), just in case.

Things to improve:
- introduce more contactless payment methods (card, twint, etc.): we wanted to get quite a lot of stuff with us, but couldn't pay as we didn't have cash on us.
- please have more children's trolleys: by the time we got there all of them were already taken, it is not fun anymore when you have to carry a toddler everywhere.

An amazing place! Very beautiful landscape. The buildings are transported here from their original site and you can get a good impression about how people lived here some hundred years ago in Switzerland. And a lot to do for children like the playground and small animals to play with. The entrance feeight be a lot for a family thought. But you should plan to stay all day.

Simply amazing! Really well done with lots to experierience.
Unfortunately there is only one take-away open due to corona, leading to a huge crowd in front of that place. Perfect conditions for corona though...

Great museum where it's easy to spend a day hoping from activity to activity. Today our kids made a brick, watched basket weaving, pet a goat, and saw a water powered saw. Plus more. You can do it with a stroller if you have the off roading kind. Easy to take a picnic. And it's on the Swiss museum pass.

From old history buildings within every Canton of Switzerland you can enjoy all kind of architectural arts. You are actually walking through history from Central, East, West and South of Switzerland.
You can see each of man crafted items from iron, wood and of course cheese. A lot of the park is accessible with the wheelchair but most houses are not.
However, calculate a day to see and walk through the fantastic mountain scenery.

If you are travelling by train you will have to go to Brienz and from there you catch a bus (151) to Ballenberg. The 28 Francs you pay to get in happen to be a great investment. The museum is divided into the regions of Switzerland (Central, Bernese Oberland, Romandie and so on) and I learned a lot. You will easily spend the whole day here. There is a bakery, you can see how cheese is made, you can buy souvenirs, pet the animals. Children and adults alike won't be disappointed!

I think everyone should be able to find there something for herself/himself. The buildings are amazing and some real crafters are showing how things were done on the past. Absolutely fabulous.
