I was SO SAD to ride up to this place and find it closed. I actually brought my grandson and his therapist. I wanted her to see the place so bad as I talked about it constantly. I loved the owner she was amazing. What happened?

Parents booking parties here be aware that if you have a party and something gets broken your responsible for buying it! My babies party was 2nd party of the day so there was a party before ours. A little piano got broken and we had to pay $80.00 for the piano. I don't know who broke the piano, I don't know if the leg was previously damaged and it was just our bad fortune that it completely broke during our party but if you book a party here just know that if someone's child accidentally breaks something no matter what condition the item is in your held responsible. It was just the leg of the piano that was split and could have been repaired so I told my husband to take the piano to the car since he made us pay for it and I will have it repaired and he can play with it until he gets tired of it. I personally think that this is bad business practice because there should be some kind of insurance on the items that you have in your establishment and if it was damaged prior to our party how would we know this! I spent $375.00 for a party here and have been coming here for over a year. What would they have done if the piano was broken during a time where they had no idea who broke it... I would definitely think twice before booking another party here since this has left a bad taste in my mouth since I have no idea who broke it and I certainly wasn't going to ask a parent to pay for it even if I knew whose child accidently broke it.. These kids were all from 1-4 years old.. Ridiculous!

A few months ago (Mar or Apr 2019), I purchased 3 discounted vouchers from Certifikid to The Swellness Center. 2 of the 3 times I tried to take my son there, they randomly decided to close for no reason and no advanced warning, just a handwritten note taped to the front door. This was exceptional frustrating because they already have such limited hours (only open 10a-2p M-F...no weekend hours, so inconvenient).

We finally managed to go twice and both times we arrived right at opening, 10am, and whomever was working that day arrived between 10:02-10:05am, as I was taking my son out of the car. Both times this happened, when we left at 11:30am, the place still was not completely ready - the front desk person spent most of the time on their phone rather than getting the car/train room set up (all those toys were left piled up in the snack area).

The toys are all dingy and very well used/worn. 2 yrs ago it all looked new when I brought my nanny kids. Now, bringing my son, it all looks old, run-down, and like it hasn't had a good cleaning in a while.

The final straw for me was showing up this past Fri, May 31st to use our third and final voucher (which exp on the 31st). Once again, the place was closed and the door sign said their "summer hrs starting in June would be 10-2 Tues-Thurs." Now they are cutting down their 20 hrs/wk down to only 12/wk. They closed for no reason on the final day that my voucher was valid. I'm not sure if this business is under new management from 2 yrs ago or if the owners just don't care any more, but this place has gone severely downhill. The employees don't seem to be interested in working there anymore (hence the nearly non-existent hours?), there appears to be only minimal upkeep, and even though my 2 yr old has fun playing here, it's not worth the $10 admission for toys in worse shape than what we have at home. I'm so disappointed with the current state of this business. We won't be returning anymore.

We recently came across the Swellness Center through a google search a few months ago and on our very first visit I was so impressed that I purchased a monthly membership for my daughter who is one and a half. On that particular day, we spent more than two hours there playing and exploring the various activity rooms. She enjoyed herself so much that I literally had to bribe her to leave as did a few other mothers with their children. It is such a comfortable environment for both mother and child where you can easily feel at home. Parents who are tea/coffee drinkers like myself can enjoy a complimentary cup or two while their little ones play and socialize. My LO especially enjoys the ride-ons room and the play kitchen area that is fully equipped with everything your little chef could imagine. With each visit, she finds something new and never seems to get bored. We also like the fact that we can bring lunch or snacks and eat in the dining area when she needs to refuel. The space is always extremely clean and the owner and staff are absolutely wonderful! I am so grateful to have found this place and I m sure that we ll be spending our share of time there over the next few years.

My daughter loves it here she is 4 years old and we have recently moved to Maryland from California, so I wanted to take my daughter to a place so she can socialize. This place is perfect for her to play with other kids and also parents get to know each other as well. I recogmend this place for anyone with young kids. Very clean and friendly.

Great variety of things for your child to do from music room to puzzles, chalkboards and of course lots of toys. The staff are amazing as well. My 14 month old son has been attending since around 4 months old and we both love it! We even had his first birthday here! It's worth checking out!

Lots of room and toys and opportunity for social interaction.

UPDATE: July 17, 2019 just stopped by and a sign on the door said they were closed until further notice. It's a real shame it, and Ms Teesa, were a real gem.

My kids love it! It is a great place for kids to play and learn. I like how the areas are separated by theme. It is also a nice relaxed environment and easy for parents to chat while the children play. I bought a pass because I know I will take the kids often. One more thing...there is an eating area. You can bring your own food or they sell healthy snacks and water for a very reasonable price.

I love this place! It's hands down the best indoor play space in the Columbia area, and we've been to them all. I'm so glad we stumbled upon it when we moved here in April 2015. We've been regulars ever since, and most recently purchased their $50 month-month membership this May. There's something for all ages, and I'm never concerned about my child's safety. My baby aged a year and a half here, and she's never bored or lacking in educational stimulation. There is so much variety that we can stay for a few hours, especially because we can eat lunch there comfortably at the tables set up in the back. The owner is warm, welcoming, and very friendly and really fosters a sense of family in the space. It probably helps that it's family owned and operated, so you get used to seeing the same smiling faces when you arrive. My daughter LOVES the costumes, but spends a lot of time playing games/puzzles, reading, building things in the tool room, driving the toy cars around, riding the seesaw, and making a ruckus in the music room. Now for the nitty gritty details: bring socks, you HAVE to clean up after your child and supervise them from room to room (which I like because I'm pretty hands on and there are a lot of interactive activities to explore anyway, and cleaning up keeps it nice for the next person), "you broke it, you bought it" applies here as it does anywhere you go sooooo more reason to keep an eye on the kiddos, drop in rate is $10 but there are punch cards and membership options that save you money (I think with the membership I have, I'd only have to pay an additional $10/month to add a sibling), they have snacks and juice boxes if you forget lunch (though they have a microwave and fridge for public use), and the kids get stickers at the end :-). I've never had a Kindermusik class or a party there, but I hear they're fantastic too. If you're looking for a place to go inside, particularly when the weather gets intense, there's no place like the swellness center. It's inexpensive, educational, and most likely where I'll be come winter :-)
