I stopped by The Frog and Nightgown for my weekly dose of disappointment to watch Newcastle play "football". I had a few beers, the selection was small but good. The bar staff were very friendly. Didn't have any other drinks but there was a large selection of Gin.

It's an older building and it shows in the rooms. The showers are small but the rooms have everything you need. The restaurant down stairs serves good food and seems to be busy most nights. They also have a small parking lot in the back, which was convenient.

Really nice place to stay. Staff really friendly and helpful, meals are just as good. They only reason it hasn't had more stars was my fork was dirty 2 nights in a row so had to wash it before eating. Fix this and will change review on next stay.

Beautiful hotel, a perfect mixture of old and new. The building is old and the corridors are a little bit undulating with low ceilings if you are over 6' 6". But the rooms are obviously updated and reasonably modern. Very clean and tidy.
All the staff reception, bar, waitresses and housekeeping, are friendly helpful and professional.
An excellent buffet breakfast. Highly recommend the bacon and sausages. There is also plenty on the cooked breakfast for vegetarians to eat well. Scrambled eggs, mushrooms, cooked tomatoes, baked beans and fried bread.

Room was a nice size with a shower in the bathroom. One issue was that the bathroom door wouldn't lock.
Beds were single beds - but rolled around like nobody's business. Woke up away from the wall a few times in the night.

Breakfast was good in the morning - nice variety. Reception and staff all very friendly. Would stay again.

Nice to go for a hot or cold refreshments, but the food needs improvement. Some staff members there are worth their weight in gold and a few unfortunately spoil the experience with the lack of customer care skills. The rooms are basic and some could do with a makeover. The historic hotel holds a nice charm to it. Various types of events are held there regularly, and you can also privately rent various areas to hold events according to your needs, business or pleasure. Dog friendly location, which I think is fabulous.

Real old fashioned style hotel that shows class. As soon as you walk into it. I enjoyed it very much and would change a thing about it myself. But like all things in life it's a case of what your looking for in a hotel.

Nice old hotel with lots of character. Rooms are comfortable and have been modernised. Lovely lounge area and the pub located at the back of the hotel was cosy and relaxing with a good menu.

Ate in the attached pub, food was expensive for what you got and they have fallen in to the current trend of not serving food on plates. Service was OK but quite a long wait considering it was not that busy. This ING right in front of it so s a tiny space only 7/8 tables, ended up with a table by the door, and when I say by the door some were sitting right 8n front so were treated to a blast of cold air every time it was opened.

Went for gig in the marquee at the swan, so comments really only applicable for that. The night was clearly popular and a great idea, plenty happening with refreshments, food and entertainments. Bar was very busy but well staffed so you can't complain, only pity was some doors in and out were locked so it was a pain getting to the loo via the rammed bar. Otherwise good Jon swan

Nice place to stay, I have many times, glad to see that the first floor is now being redecorated, I'm not a fan of sinks in bedrooms not in bathrooms nor old rattling wondows. Newer rooms are much better. Great breakfast, I'll be back

Probably the best breakfast I've had for some time. Lovely building great character, staff are very friendly. Our room needed bit of updating but bed so comfy, for the price great value for money.

Stayed a night, wish it had been more. Meals were good, the layout is dated which suits me, the extra privacy for quiet conversations, the adjacent and on site car parking, and plenty of pubs remain is this charming village.
