I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. As you enter, you re immediately greeted by a sense of relief and tranquility. The large glass panels provide a delightful vista of greenery and a countryside-esque courtyard. The menu pairs details of their daily offerings with some food for thought about environmental and social matters.

I chose to order the beetroot mash with haloumi and carrot hommus - the flavours were distinct and tantalised my palate. I concluded my meal with their gluten free carrot cake.

I sit here, soaking in the sun, already contemplating my next visit.

Food here is pretty amazing. Such good quality and has a great menu of items to pick from. I always make sure I get an almond croissant. Has to be one if not the best croissant I have ever had and each time I go it always tastes the same. Never changes. You kind of feel good eating here because you know that it s going to a good cause. I love getting the update on The menu of how they are tracking and what goals they are trying to achieve. Staff are always lovely and give good recommendations on the menu. Last time I went I had a vegan curry and it was perfect. The seaweed fries were also perfect and were a great addition to the meal. Do yourself a favour and go there and get nice lunch and of course that sweet almond croissant

Outstanding food, coffee and service. The menus double as an annual report of sorts, listing their achievements and social impact to date. What better way to have a meal out while supporting a terrific social enterprise!

Wonderful group of people trying to do the best for the community. We are all here to serve each other and the planet in general and these guys put that on action in every way that can and leading the way in hospitality. Everyone should go a support not just for the cause, but if you like good coffee and food :)

Colleague ordered coffee before me for takeaway. I walked up expecting mine to be next. The 3 customers after me received theirs before mine. Hen the barista finally asked me if I was waiting for a coffee. A long black. Then to tell me that it s a different process? I didn t expect a long black would take longer to make 3 milk coffees that were ordered after me. Will never go back. $4 for a small and that s what you get? Absolutely no value for money.

Cromwell St is a great haven from the concrete commercial surrounds. A beautiful space with both indoor areas with fairy lights in the roof and a large outdoor space with deck chairs and greenery. It's a window only menu until 11am but the breakfast sangas are great! Service is good and coffee is decent but inconsistent. A great space and worth a try.

I was staying in the area and this place came highly recommended. I came here for breakfast and enjoyed it so much I came back for breakfast the next morning. Both meals were excellent, the service was fast and the staff were very friendly. They also have these really cute greeting cards you can pick up for $7 each with song lyrics rewritten to reference food. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

The setting is amazing, it's a quiet oasis amongst the hustle and bustle.
However, I had a coffee and almond crossaint and nether quite hit the mark. The crossaint texture was perfect with a bit of crunch in the almond and a soft crossaint, but there was an odd aftertaste. The coffee was just bad. Way too hot and bitter, basic technique was missing and that's why I've only scored 3 stars. With so many good options locally you can't get away with bad coffee. I will give them another go and would love to try something off the menu.

I had my birthday event here - beautiful setting, great catering and the staff were amazing. Tarn the manager was very accommodating and the staff were super hospitable. We had the courtyard to ourselves and they also booked as inside area just in case of rain. They did a delicious grazing table and drinks tab. The staff came out and took orders for coffees and other drinks for the whole time! Best birthday I've ever had - highly recommend for any function (also good to be able to contribute to a social enterprise) :-)

I have been several times now, always great service and food. The pastry from the onsite bakery are particularly delicious! So cool to be able to enjoy our indulgent cafe cultural in Melbourne knowing that it is supporting a fantastic project for those disadvantaged.

Yummy toasties and Danish pastries. It hit the spot and we couldn't fault the coffee either. You wouldn't know this place was here from the end of a street on a Sunday but it's such a warm, welcoming spot inside. Worth a visit

Would definitely recommend this venue for creating memorable and unique events.

Food was absolutely delicious. I had the Streat breakfast and that was very tasty. My wife had poached eggs with a side of beans. They were great and the sides were very reasonably priced for the size of the serve. Tea was brewed and came in a pot with no leaves which the wife appreciated big time, very few places do this. My coffee was delicious. Will be coming back a lot.

Love everything they do. Great pastries, great food, great coffee, great service, great model. All the great things!

If you don't know much about them they are more than just a cafe they are a social enterprise trying to do really great things for the youth in Australia who need it the most. Ripped this from their website, but hopefully it helps you understand it's not just the delicious food, coffee and service that makes them special:

"[We] help young people who struggle with a range of really complex issues. Like homelessness. Or mental health issues. Or drug and alcohol abuse. Or family violence. Or time in prison. Or long stretches of time being disconnected from school or other community groups. [How do we help them?] Cromwell StrEAT is not just a cafe. It's an amazing youth training academy, artisan bakery, coffee roastery, catering business and function venue which enables us to now support and train over 250 of these young people each year to help give them a chance to make it on their own and get the support they need to live a better life."

Good on ya, StrEAT!

Very cosy and welcoming place. Ordered the mushrooms and was not disappointed. Place is very kid friendly and Group friendly. Only downside is that it's a little pricey and parking is difficult.
