Been going here since I was a kid. I love this beach. The waves here break further out so they are pretty mellow by the time they get to shore. Gets busy during the summer, but it's easily accessible and with free parking off Selva and Pacific Coast Highway.

"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot." Used to come here when it was full of abandoned buildings. Strands Beach was secluded and a walk to get too. Now it's easy to get to and extremely packed in the summer. Don't know how I feel about that.

Amazing place. Not just the homes, which of course are the most beautiful luxury beach homes in california. also liked the trails, the nature center, the open space, the beach, and the town of dana point.

I discovered this place by chance. I was looking for a beach where I could take my family and ended up here. Free parking, showers, cable car for disabled or lazy people. Houses around here are amazing but it's private property. I'll come back without any doubt next time I visit California.

Lovely beach, not crowded but usually has maybe 10 groups of people on it. Setting is great, beach is clean and water is clear.
Great for body boarding and surfing if you're not a pro. Car park is a little bit up the hill at the Salt Creek area but it's a 5 minute walk down to the front.

A really pleasant and not-so-crowded beach to enjoy, although much less so now that all the super high end mansions have cropped up just atop the sand. The beach should be for all of us.

If you have never been to the Dana Point Headlands, there is a lot to see. great beach for swimming. and surfing. and from the trails in the headands above, sometime you can see the whales if you take a pair of binoculars.

Then if you have a spare few million, you can buy one of the homes.

Nothing like it.

Absolutely beautiful. Quite and clean plus not to crowded. Smiles on nearly every face and plenty of surfers to watch. Caution tho some of the surfer circles have some pretty strong smelling reefer drifting around them. Still amazing views and clean ocean air make it worth visiting.

Great beach !! Nice waves , beautiful sand , very little rocks in water and crystal clear water that you can see your feet standing in water :) on both ends of beach there are bathrooms .. I usually carry my stuff down the stairs that go thru the Strands at headlands community. . Sometimes the guards can be real jerks ( the large gaurd almost ran me over and when I said something to him he said look I stopped in time ) so be careful when walking cause he definitely wasn't watch for me . But as far as beaches goes this is by far the most amazing in Dana point . Free parking and for those unable to do the stairs a funicular that will take you almost all the way down to sand . Friendly lifeguards too.
