My daughter started here in September this year. I was very impressed to see how quickly they settled her in and made her feel comfortable in the school, particularly since she came from a very small primary. There's a big emphasis on all the students being kind and helping one another, which shows in their brilliant 'guardian group' system (where they meet regularly in a small group with an adult guardian and a mix of children from all the other years). Of course, it's a different ball-game academically from primary, but she's enjoying stretching herself and says the teaching is clear and the homework is challenging but manageable. As a family, we're delighted with it and would recommend it to any parents who are looking for a school that balances academic ambition with a calm and friendly approach.

The teaching is often poor and the workload they put on the students (especially the YR11s) is ridiculous, yet the parent teacher communication cannot be faulted and thus is this schools saving grace.

I have 2 children, both attended St Mary Magdalene Academy, in fact one is still there and about to sit his exams...I couldn't be happier with their education and they are always so positive about their school experience. The teachers are so helpful and always available for both the students and parents. Year 11 is a tough year for kids but the help/extra sessions on offer there- I am not surprised it is one of the hardest schools to get in to. I know friends with children in primary school are doing everything they can to get their child into the Academy. I have no regrets sending my kids there.

This is an appalling school! The teachers are very bad and don t care about their students, I regret sending my child to this school. The teachers do not help the students in any way and are not responsible furthermore they don t even take the parents seriously they do what THEY think is best and believe me what they think is best is definitely not the best decision. Also why are they deciding on behalf of you, it s your child and you know what best for them. As I said before it is an appalling school, please do not send your children to this school

I'm going there for secondary. I had my induction day and the whole application process seems so easy. The school itself seems so welcoming but also academically it is a great school.
