I was there in 2015, and the experience was horrible, women are treated with contempt and humiliation. The staff that is supposed to help with the needs of women does not help them move forward.

I was at the Spring for 2 weeks

I was at the Spring for 2 weeks
. At first everything seemed to be going well and I was happy to be somewhere safe. A lady moved in who was bullying me. I reported this to staff and nothing was done about it. I saw a counselor 1 time and I was desperate to talk to anyone about the problem but I was blown off. This person was also stealing from me and when I asked staff to do a Locke search again nothing was done.. This place is ran very unprofessionally and the staff is rude cold and uncaring. It was a nightmare

About The Spring of Tampa Bay

The Spring of Tampa Bay is a non-profit organization that provides safe spaces and empowering services to survivors of domestic violence and their children. The organization was founded in 1977 with the aim of helping victims of domestic violence in Hillsborough County, Florida. Since then, The Spring has grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive domestic violence centers in the state.

At The Spring, we understand that domestic violence is a complex issue that affects people from all walks of life. We provide a range of services to help survivors heal from the trauma they have experienced and rebuild their lives. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, and more.

One of our primary goals at The Spring is to provide a safe haven for survivors who are fleeing abusive situations. Our emergency shelter can accommodate up to 128 individuals at any given time and provides a secure environment where survivors can begin their healing journey. We also offer transitional housing for those who need longer-term support as they work towards independence.

In addition to providing physical safety, we also offer emotional support through our counseling services. Our licensed therapists work with survivors individually or in group settings to help them process their experiences and develop coping strategies for moving forward.

Legal advocacy is another important service we offer at The Spring. Our advocates are trained to assist survivors with navigating the legal system as they seek protection orders or pursue other legal remedies against their abusers.

We also recognize that children who witness or experience domestic violence may need specialized support as well. That's why we offer age-appropriate counseling services for children who have been impacted by abuse.

At The Spring, we believe that education is key to preventing domestic violence from occurring in the first place. That's why we offer community outreach programs aimed at raising awareness about this issue and promoting healthy relationships.

If you or someone you know needs help escaping an abusive situation or healing from past trauma related to domestic violence, please reach out to us at The Spring of Tampa Bay. We are here for you every step of the way on your journey towards safety and empowerment.
