The Southampton Fresh Air Home Reviews

I attended this camp every summer from the the age of 6 in 1955 until aged 12 in 1961 and it was one of the most important, meaningful experiences of my life. And the most fun! I cherish my wonderful memories. The campers who attend this camp are members of a very exclusive club, and most of the time being a member of this club is not what anyone would want. You see, you have to have a physical disability to be eligible to attend this camp, through the Hospital for Special Services in Manhattan. When I was a child we had many polio victims. Today, while polio is nearly wiped out, the more common disability would by something like MS or Spina Bifida. The camp is built to accommodate the special needs of crippled kids, to put it succinctly. It is a wonderful place for children with physical disabilities and I will always be grateful for the time I spent here. We were taught to be as active as possible, as independent as possible, and given a wonderful vacation away from inner city summer with lots of kids who faced the same challenges.

Even though I been there for only a few years l gotta say this is the best summer camp ever.

My son has been coming here for 8 years. It is such a wonderful, warm and caring environment. The entire staff are fabulous people!

I was attending this camp from the age of 5 in 1992, to the age 18 in 2005. And visited the camp until 2012. This place is my third home. I love this place, this camp will always be in my heart.
